Werewolf Leveling: Building the Strongest Pack in the Apocalypse

Chapter 125: The Moth Queen

The Moth Queen sprawled before us, sitting on a throne. She was a beautiful woman with large wings on her back and two antennae on her head. Her long white hair spread over her shoulders like a waterfall.

Even though she was a demon, she was the picture of elegance. I was surprised when I saw her. Apart from her wings and the antennae on her head, she looked human.

Interesting…

So this is a Greater Fiend demon. She sat on her throne with her legs crossed and one hand resting on her cheek. When she saw us, a small smile appeared on her face.

"So you are the ones who barged into my domain."

She can talk! A demon, a monster talking! This is a first.

"You are the Moth Queen, correct?"

"Who else would I be?" she asked, brushing it off.

There was something else about her I noticed. It's that her voice sounded familiar. I remembered that on the day when the rift opened up in the sky, I heard the sound of a woman laughing. That was also when a Moth flew into my classroom.

Could it be her doing?

"I know you two aren't humans; you are something else from this world," she spoke in a calm voice, as if our presence didn't bother her at all. Or maybe she saw us as not being worthy of her time.

"We only wish that you relinquish this city and leave."

"Pff! Did the witches send you? They want the mana crystals here that badly."

Mana crystals? Those strange crystals that we saw in the city? Come to think of it, alot of them were growing in this room here. Even her throne was made of the strange crystals.

"So that's what these strange crystals are." I said.

"So you are ignorant fools who know nothing. Let me tell you something: there is nothing witches won't do to obtain mana crystals. No line they won't cross. They've used them for centuries and kept them secret from everyone else on your Earth. How do you think they are able to use our magic?"

So we were just being used by the witches. figured as much, but I was using them too so it didn't matter much.

"Don't worry, you're not the first to be used." The Moth Queen chuckled. "They recently used an awakened human to take back a city one of my comrades had as a stronghold. The awakened human who killed him stole his sacred demonic blade. He was an imbecile but still, he was a Greater Fiend Demon just like me. Such disrespect will not be tolerated from ants."

That matched with the story the adventurers told us.

"No mere human is to wield such a powerful weapon. It brings disgrace to the demon forces. Our leader would be ashamed."

"Leader? Do you mean Death? Is he the one commanding you?"

She scoffed.

"Death and the other horsemen of the apocalypse are nothing but generals. And Death is the worst of them." She scowled. "He has done nothing since we've been here. He was supposed to lay waste to the humans and create an army of undead, but in the time that we've been here, he hasn't made a move. His laziness and arrogance knows no bounds."

I must say that this demon seemed quite talkative. Maybe because she thought we weren't much of a threat.

Looking at her, I felt happy. She was the person I've been looking for. The person who holds the information I need.

"Join me."

The words in my mind slipped out without me being able to contain them.

The demon blinked.

"Darling, what are you saying?" Kumo looked confused.

"Leave the demon army and join me instead." I reaffirmed.

She looked at me with wide eyes, then shook her head.

"You humans are as foolish as ever." My proposition seemed to have amused her, like a child confessing his love to his teacher.

I knew it wouldn't be that easy but still... it was worth a shot. First, I would have to prove that I'm worthy of being her alpha by defeating her.

I called back Cerberus and some of my shadow hounds into my shadow, then released them here.

Seeing my shadow hounds led by Cerberus crawling from my shadow, her expression changed for some reason.

"That ability… These hounds… That ability shouldn't be possible for your kind. Only those of the demon race who have our blood can create their own legion. What are you?!"

Suddenly, her entire face froze stiff, and I could feel her bloodlust about to explode.

"Orange eyes?! It can't be! What on Earth are you?" Suddenly her voice and her entire body began to tremble. She looked as if she was witnessing something impossible.

"Why do you have the stench of a wolf but bear the eye of a dragon?!"

"Your eyes, they remind me of that bitch!"

Suddenly, the entire room began to quake, and a staff appeared in her hand.

"Tenebris Explosio!"

My instincts kicked in at that very moment, and I grabbed Kumo by the hand and switched places with my shadow hounds outside.

The entire clock tower erupted in a chaos of dark energy. Kumo and I managed to escape just in time before the explosion. The once towering clock tower was reduced to a pile of rubble, and above its remains, the Moth Queen floated in the sky with her staff pointed at us.

One minute she was completely calm and collected, but the moment she saw the color of my eyes, she went feral.

Suddenly, several giant portals began to swarm around her, and out of them came giant Mothmen. These ones were much more muscular than the ones that were fought before.

"Darling?" Kumo looked at me questioningly.

I smiled at her and stroked her head to ease her worry.

"I'll handle the Moth Queen, but I'll need you to deal with the Mothmen. Can you do that for me?"

"Of course, Darling, I'll do anything for you," she quickly said. "Just umm… don't die, okay?"

"I promise I won't."

The air was thick and crackling with a strange energy.

"What is this? Magic?"

The giant Mothmen plummeted down from the skies towards us, and just as we planned, Kumo took them head-on while I focused on the Moth Queen.

She loomed over the skies, watching me with cold sharp eyes. She looked both like a beautiful angel and a terrifying demon.

"Your eyes remind me of that bitch, and for that, you must die," she said coldly as the size of her wings increased, creating a sizable shadow over the city like a moth blocking the sun.

Staff in hand and magical energy crackling around her, she soared towards me with pitch-black eyes.

At that moment, I readied myself. I felt this burning need inside me to make her mine.
