Werewolf Leveling: Building the Strongest Pack in the Apocalypse

Chapter 124: Attack

With Kumo in my arms, I walked towards the giant dome that was a few miles out from where we were. Once we got closer, we were able to take a look at this cocoon. It was jelly-like in appearance with a yellowish tint. It was also transparent, so we could see inside the city.

"Since it isn't hard, we can easily break through this stuff and attack," Kumo said confidently. "Let's go!"

"Wait!" I stopped her before she could touch the cocoon. "I want you to gather your arachnids, and I'll gather my shadow hounds. We'll have them attack at a single point while we enter at another point far away from them."

"That's an excellent idea, my darling! You're as brilliant as ever."

Kumo didn't even question it; she agreed instantly, even though I was sure she didn't know why I had chosen to attack like this. The reason was because of what the witch said. She said the moment we entered, the Moth Queen would send all her forces after us.

Because of that, I wanted to use our shadow hounds and arachnids to distract them while we snuck in. My goal was to assassinate her, not to wage an all-out war.

"But umm… before we go, can I ask you something?" Kumo suddenly took on a serious expression.

"What exactly happened with Sylvie and Isabella? It's strange that they are not here with you. It's not just them either, you've been acting strange since we left too. You're not your usual self, and I'm afraid that if you enter battle with the demon while you're like this, then you might get yourself hurt or worse. I wouldn't be able to bare it if something like that happens."

"Don't worry about it. I'm fine. I won't deny that the whole Selthia and Sylvie situation has been on my mind, but it's just one bump in the road that I'll have to solve when I get back. Just like this demon. Don't worry, I don't intend to die."

Kumo smiled and nodded.

"You're right; let's just focus on killing the demon. Anything else we can solve after this."

Having renewed our confidence, Kumo and I did as we planned. We created a sizable army consisting of shadow hounds and arachnids led by Cerberus and Abigail. Abigail was a giant arachnid that Kumo put in charge as the queen. She was truly a monstrous beast and a little disturbing to look at. Maybe I was mistaken but I swear sometimes I could see her batting her eyelashes at me.

Together, the army breached the cocoon while we snuck in from somewhere else. Our plan seemed to have worked as a swarm of Mothmen and Bloodmoths erupted into a frenzy and went to attack them. While we snuck in amid the chaos.

Immediately as we snuck in, we were hit with the overpowering bloodlust of the Moth Queen. Her bloodlust emanated through every corner of the city. Her bloodlust made it feel as if an invisible pressure was pressing down on us, forcing us to bow. Like gravity itself had gone haywire.

Even though there was a bigger army fighting on the other side of the city, a few of the Mothmen noticed our presence.

The nightmarish creatures swooped down from the sky with their mouths puffed open and their chests swollen, and without a second's delay, they launched a red liquid from their mouths. The liquid looked an awful lot like blood, and when Kumo and I dodged it, the liquid melted through the concrete acid.

One touch, and our skin would've been dissolved.

"You tried to melt my darling!" Kumo shouted as her lower half began to take the shape of a giant spider, and she grew two more pairs of eyes on her forehead. "I'll kill you all!"

Kumo's pointed legs tore through the Mothman, but there were more coming.

'I guess leveling up before I fight the big boss isn't a bad idea.'

I readied myself for the onslaught of Mothmen flying towards me. My claws were itching to tear through their flesh to the point where I could barely contain myself. Before they even landed, I launched myself into the air and took out the first Mothman mid-air by ripping through its chest. Then I used its corpse to propel me towards another Mothman in the air.

One by one, I ripped through them, using my high agility to dance through the air. They didn't even get the chance to react as I tore through their chests and ripped out the gold that laid inside. I devoured their hearts while killing them. My face was a mess of blood and gore, but I didn't care.

I skinned them alive and ripped out their throats with my jaws. I embraced my wild instincts as I slaughtered them. There were no techniques behind my attacks, only brutal savagery. My primal instincts guided me in killing them.

"Darling~"

Seeing me this way seemed to rile Kumo up, giving her power to fight by my side. It was an army of them against us two, but Kumo and I swatted them like flies as we made our way through the city.

We followed the crushing bloodlust towards the Moth Queen. The bloodlust was emanating from the bell tower that towered over the city. That was where the queen was, watching us. With every wave of Mothmen we killed off, her bloodlust would rise.

It was so dense that I could feel it burning in my lungs. The air had gotten so thick to the point where any normal person would've suffocated.

"Are you ready, darling?" Kumo asked, blushing like a wild animal in heat as we stared up at the bell tower.

"Hmm…"

Seeing my lack of response, Kumo started to look a bit worried.

"What's the matter, darling?"

"I hadn't noticed it before since we were fighting, but the city has changed a lot," I said. "Particularly those strange crystals growing on the ground. What are they?"

Everywhere we went in the city had these strange crystals were growing from the ground. They were in various colors, most blue, but some were green and others were purple. Not only that, but I felt a strange power emanating from them.

"I'll have to figure it out later. First, let's focus on dealing with the Moth Queen," I said, brushing it off for now. "Let's go."

Kumo and I climbed the bell tower where it seemed that the number of Mothmen and Bloodmoths had diminished, but the ominous bloodlust was still at the top, stronger than ever.

We climbed our way up slowly, being extra careful in case we were ambushed. Soon we were at the top, and the room where the Moth Queen was was just one step away.

With our minds and bodies ready to fight to the death, Kumo and I took the final step towards where the Greater Fiend Demon was.
