Werewolf Leveling: Building the Strongest Pack in the Apocalypse

Chapter 126: Talk with the Girls

"Liam, we need to talk."

The moment Selthia said those words, an ominous feeling rose inside me. Whatever was bothering her seemed to be affecting me too. Like I was siphoning bits of her emotions.

"What is it, Selthia?" I asked, trying to maintain a neutral tone.

She took a deep breath before speaking up.

"It's about my sisters. One of them is here. She must've come looking for me."

"I see, but how do you know that?"

"We can communicate with each other using different sounds and frequencies. It's similar to what dolphins use to communicate. She wants to see me and most likely to try to bring me back home."

"I see."

"I'll turn her down, of course! But to do so, I have to go see her. I wanted to ask your permission to go see her. If you say no, then I'll just ignore her attempts to communicate and forget she's even here."

I waved Selthia over to me to take a seat on my lap. She hesitated, then slowly walked towards me, then sat herself down in my lap.

"It's fine. Just say no, I don't need to see her, you're my family now." She whispered.

"What do you want to do?" I questioned.

"I want to keep my promise to you about always staying by your side," she said without hesitation, but I could tell there was more to it.

"I-I… A part of me also wants to see my sister again, even though we don't get along."

"Then that's what you should do."

"But…"

"You'll be keeping your promise to me as long as you return here. You have my permission to go see your sister."

"Really?" she looked at me and her eyes flooded with tears. "Can I really go see her?"

"Of course, as long as you want to."

Selthia nodded and wiped the tears from her eyes. After that, she gave me a passionate kiss and practically ran out of the office.

'I guess that means there is one less person coming with me. I hope Sylvie and Kumo will be able to pick up the slack for her.'

A little while later, after I had a chat, I went back to my room where Sylvie was waiting for me. When I saw her, I immediately knew something was wrong.

"Lee, we need to talk."

She kept her head down as she spoke, as if she couldn't bring herself to look me in the eyes.

"Is everything alright? If something is bothering you, feel free to tell me."

"It's just that umm… remember when papa tried to keep Lee away from Sylvie?"

"I do."

"Sylvie said something back then. Does Lee remember?"

Hmm? She said something? I can't remember clearly what it was. I remember Sylvie was arguing with her father, but at the time I was mostly thinking about how I would get out of the situation.

"I'm sorry, Sylvie, but I can't remember anything you said back then. Was it something important?"

"Yes! It is important!" she shouted and clenched her fist tightly.

This was the first time I've seen her angry with me. Did I make her a promise and somehow forget? I tried to calm her by petting her head, but she wasn't responding to my touch anymore. In fact, it seemed to be making her more angry. It felt as if the temperature in the room had dropped by several degrees, and suddenly her eyes flashed with determination as if she had make up her mind about something.

"Tell me what it is Sylvie." I beckoned.

"Sylvie wants to have babies with Lee!"

Babies? Does that mean she wants to…

"You mean you want to have sex?"

"Yes, but… Sylvie wants to make babies!"

"I… umm…"

For the first time, I was speechless. It felt as if someone took a sledgehammer to my stomach.

'She wants to have babies. But we're both so young. I thought it would be a few more years until we did anything of that nature. The pack is already in an unstable position, plus it's an apocalypse for God's sake. I have to tell her no.'

"I… Sylvie..."

I tried to speak, but looking at her face, I couldn't get the words out. I could tell that this was something important to her. More important than I realized. It wasn't something she came up with out of the blue. It must be something she thought about a lot, fantasizing like how a girl thinks of her wedding day. If I turn her down now, I would be crushing a part of her.

"Can we talk about this another time? There is already so much going on."

"No!" She shook her head stubbornly. "Sylvie wants Lee to answer now!"

I had to answer. I felt as if my relationship with her was jeopardized if I didn't.

"Sylvie has to know. Sylvie wanted to ask for so long, but she was afraid that Lee would get angry. That's all Sylvie wants. To make babies with Lee."

I should've seen this coming. Spending so much time with her fated mate, of course her maternal instinct would kick in. And of course spending so much time with Lily wasn't helping either. But still…

The wolf inside of me wanted to lift her up and howl at the moon. My instincts wanted me to accept her offer so badly. But the logical part of my brain was screaming at me to say no.

I have enemies left and right. Bringing kids into that would be a stupid thing to do. Besides, I'm technically a child myself; could I really handle that responsibility?

No, what am I saying? I made the decision to lead an entire pack; having children can't be where I choke up. Can it? Maybe I'm just not suited for it?

My mind was running around in circles. I was torn between instincts and logic.

"You have to understand, Sylvie. A decision like this will affect us for the rest of our lives. We can't be hasty about it."

"Sylvie knows, but… She can't help it! That's what Sylvie wants."

Suddenly, the tears she was holding back came out. I held her tightly and tried to comfort her. Her body softened against me.

"This decision is too important to decide in one moment. I'll give you my answer when I return."
