10x Rewards: Becoming Invincible With My Sign-in System

Chapter 114: Big Baby

Even though the system reassured him, Aegon didn't feel good knowing that his instructor might be in danger inside that place. That eye gave him the creeps, and he didn't want to take any unnecessary risks.

"Hecte!"

[Yes, boss? What should I do?]

Since this was a sensitive area, Hecte had completely severed their connection and only remained as a shadow.

So, she had no clue what had happened, but she could sense the urgency in his voice. That alone was enough for her to be on full alert. She almost wanted to jump right out of his shadow.

"Can you take me to the Dean right now? As fast as you can," he asked after taking a deep breath.

[This is the Academy, so there will be restrictions and problems. Is it that urgent?]

"Yes, Kai can die in there," Aegon said instantly. "But don't do anything that endangers your life."

[Understood. Brace yourself, Boss. It'll be a few seconds' journey.]

Aegon nodded in understanding.

In the next second, his feet began sinking into his shadow as goosebumps spread all over his body. The moment the shadows came alive, something in the Lotus Palace shifted.

However, Hecte didn't stop her actions. She dragged him into her shadows, a world of eternal darkness. Aegon couldn't move, couldn't even feel his own body, as if everything about him had melted into formless shadow.

He stayed in that world of darkness for a few seconds before being thrown out of it. Swiftly regaining his balance, he raised his head, only to see a middle-aged man with a monocle over his right eye staring at him.

The man smiled faintly and asked, "I wonder what made you trash my security Rune Formations, young master Aegon?"

Aegon completely ignored how he addressed him, too rattled by the fear of losing Kai. He hurriedly said, "There's an emergency, and Kai is in danger!"

"Calm down and explain what happened to me. Kai is strong so he'll be fine," Amon reassured him, patting his shoulder gently. "Take deep breaths, boy. Did that lass not train you for this?"

Of course, she did. But that was only theory. This was the first time in years Aegon had felt such fear, all because someone he respected might die. As much as he liked to pretend otherwise, he was still an empathetic person.

Still, he knew that rashness would do no good. Xiu had taught him that lesson well. So, he lightly tapped his chest and finally managed to calm his storming heart.

"The Void Chamber…"

Aegon explained everything in detail, noticing how Amon's faint smile gradually disappeared, replaced by a contemplative look.

"Aren't you going to save him? I don't even know what that thing was!" Aegon asked, shaking his shoulder lightly.

"Oh, but I already know about it. I'm just wondering why it happened," Amon said, gazing into the distance. "What triggered that big baby?"

"Huh?" Aegon was confused, seeing how calm Amon looked. Was it perhaps an entity they had sealed inside the Void Chamber?

"Let's go," Amon said as he draped an arm over Aegon's shoulder. "And tell your shadow to calm down. My security formations can only take so much."

'It's fine, Hecte. He'll take over from here,' Aegon reassured her, trusting Amon enough to stand down.

"Here we go, then," Amon said with a faint smile as he adjusted his monocle.

Aegon felt his surroundings change once again. His vision blurred for a second before he found himself standing back inside the familiar Lotus Palace.

Standing right before the Void Chamber, Amon furrowed his brows before taking a step forward.

As his figure disappeared, Aegon hesitated for a moment, still haunted by fear of that monstrous eye. But he had sworn to never back down in this life, so he mustered his courage and stepped inside too.

The familiar disorientation struck him once again, but this time he was prepared. He stabilized himself much faster than before.

His body tensed the moment he sensed that strange foreign presence. His hand itched to summon the Skybreaker. Even after years, it was still the strongest weapon in his arsenal.

He had no clue what would happen if he used it, but he was sure it could at least hold its ground against whatever was inside.

'I need to trust him this time.'

Opening his eyes, he found a peculiar scene before him. Kai was leaning against a wooden staff, his eyes filled with exhaustion even though his body bore no visible wounds. Amon stood beside him, rubbing his chin in thought.

[E Ye M a N]

Aegon raised his head upon hearing that layered voice again, like a thousand people speaking from one source. For some reason, now he found himself calm, even while standing before this terrifying entity.

The giant eye stared back at him, countless emotions swirling within its depths. It felt like it was composed of multiple minds, yet at the same time, it was one singular, incomprehensible being.

'What a bizarre monster… What's it even doing here?' Aegon wondered silently.

"I thought we already discussed this, big guy," Amon said, still smiling faintly. "Why are you doing this again?"

[M ee T T he Su N]

"You're one troublesome baby, aren't you?" Amon said, shaking his head helplessly. "The Agreement still stands. Back off."

[NOOOOO!!!!!]

"Back off!" Amon warned again, his smile finally fading.

[SUNSUNSUNSUNSUN!!]

The voices pierced through everything, even their souls. Kai quickly moved in front of Aegon, shielding him as his complexion turned pale, as if he had suffered heavy internal injuries.

"What a mess," Amon muttered before removing his monocle. The small lens glistened faintly in the dim light, carrying almost no presence. Then, he casually tossed it upward.

The monocle flew into the air for a few seconds before bursting with a deafening sound. Yet, it didn't look like an explosion at all. It was more like the monocle had shattered from within, expanding outward until it grew massive in size.

Its enlarged form now covered the entire dark ceiling, effectively blocking the terrifying eye from view.

Calm returned to the chamber. Kai exhaled deeply and sank down beside him, still maintaining his composure despite his drained state.

"Now then, Aegon," Amon said as he adjusted his sleeve, "do you have any idea what just happened here?"
