There wasn't anything Aegon couldn't obtain if he set his eyes on it. He truly believed that, and his confidence came entirely from his system.
If one time didn't work, he would try ten times. If ten times didn't work, he would try a hundred. But no matter what, he would obtain it eventually.
Because of his other system, the chances were even higher. All he needed was something similar, which would then be boosted into a higher version of it.
The best thing about all this was that the real thing would still remain where it was. He had no clue how the system gave him things, but he did know that it replicated rather than stole them.
The Void Chamber wasn't something he could obtain in one try, given his current luck. He knew that. But what if he tried every single day? One day, he would definitely acquire it.
Thinking of that, a smile formed on his lips as he also stepped inside the room. His reality shifted instantly, and even his soul shook violently.
If he hadn't been a Second Circle Soul Cultivator, someone who had at least some control over their soul, he might have lost consciousness right there. And that would have been the best possible outcome.
Even the space-time fabric that he usually sensed while engraving Runes shifted violently before vanishing completely. It felt as if he existed in a non-existent place.
Everything lasted for just a moment or perhaps an eternity. He didn't know. He couldn't understand, just as he couldn't even perceive the flow of time in that moment.
He quickly tried to stabilize himself, as even his mana was behaving erratically. Finally, after a lot of struggle, everything became stable again. That was also when he realized he was actually standing inside the room.
Everything had returned to normal, yet it felt foreign. Everything seemed… strange.
"How are you feeling, my goodman?"
Kai's voice sounded from behind him, startling him for a moment before he turned around and found the man standing there with the same ever-calm smile.
"It feels as if I've changed worlds," Aegon muttered, a strange expression crossing his face as he unconsciously remembered Earth.
"You really are perceptive," Kai said, his eyes holding a strange gleam that Aegon couldn't understand. "As you can see, this is the Void Chamber, cut off entirely from the regular world."
Aegon nodded and looked around.
The room was enclosed from every side. Tall wooden walls encircled the circular chamber, big enough to fit all of Cali's house within it. Aside from the soft mattress, there were a few wardrobes filled with unknown materials.
A few lanterns hung from the dark ceiling, illuminating the space with dim, flickering light. It was a different kind of silence from the one Aegon felt in the Lotus Palace.
It felt eerie. Something was wrong here, something he couldn't quite explain. Everything felt like it was calling out to him, yet it stayed just out of reach.
He rubbed the nape of his neck and thought, 'I better do it quickly before something bad happens. Fated is warning me. Or perhaps it's warning me not to do it?'
His eyes suddenly narrowed into slits as he almost called out to the system but stopped midway. He couldn't explain why, but he felt something strange, something unsettling coming from it.
Fated was an attribute that had evolved after he gained his sixth sense. It never really had any active effects, aside from the fact that his luck fluctuated wildly and often led him into dangerous situations.
It always made him wonder if Fated was actually short for "Fated to die."
Now, that same Fated was warning him. So, he didn't take it lightly. Whatever this Fated was, it was far beyond anything he or anyone else in this world could comprehend.
He decided to trust it for the time being and not to sign in, even if it took all of his willpower to resist.
'I really want this… but… fuck it! I'm not doing it!'
"Are you uncomfortable from the transmission?" Kai asked, noticing his tense expression.
"Huh? No?" Aegon replied quickly.
"Then why are you sweating so much?" Kai asked, his brows furrowing slightly.
"Sweating?"
Aegon looked confused, but as soon as he touched his forehead, his entire hand turned wet. His eyes widened in shock as he blurted out without thinking, "I think we should leave, Kai."
"What a coincidence, my goodman. The man had the same thoughts," Kai said and began walking toward the only door in the vast room.
Perhaps he, too, sensed that something was wrong, as Soul Cultivators were naturally attuned to the world and could sense ominous disturbances.
Just as his hand touched the doorknob, the chamber trembled violently, as if struck by an earthquake. Aegon quickly summoned a long white saber with wolfish patterns etched across the hilt and a purple gem embedded in the middle of the blade.
Only Kai remained calm, merely frowning slightly as he raised his head to peer deep into the darkness above.
Aegon followed his gaze and instantly froze.
A gigantic eye had formed in the ceiling. A massive reptilian iris stared directly at him, making him feel utterly insignificant, as though the eye could see through all of his secrets and strip away every layer of his being.
Just then, something roared within his soul, shattering the fear that had begun to invade his mind. A monotonous voice echoed inside his head but this time, Aegon could feel a subtle change in its tone, even if it was barely perceptible.
[It will be fine, Host.]
That single sentence filled his entire being with energy, enough for him to lift his gaze and stare back at the horrifying entity whose mere presence could shatter a person's soul.
[T he Su N....]
Incomprehensible words filled the air, echoing like a booming, divine rumble.
"That is enough for today."
Kai stepped in front of him and smiled faintly. "Perhaps you should leave now, my goodmana and call the Dean. The man will handle everything from here on."
With that, Aegon was suddenly ejected out of the Void Chamber, going through the same disorienting experience as before.
But this time, all he felt was dread.
"Shit! Shit! Will he be fine?" Aegon cursed as he stumbled and quickly got back on his feet.
[He will be fine, Host. The Void Chamber is actually a barrier, one that will keep the being away.]
