Chapter 451: I Don't Like Any of You

Gina had been shocked when she saw the superhumans leaving without any fuss, and the moment she looked into Oswald's eyes, she realized what he had done when a strange message filtered through her head.

[An external mental attack on a Legion Subordinate had been detected.]

[The mental attack is a danger to Legion functionality. The mental attack has been blocked.]

These messages echoed through Gina's head, and Gina realized that this boy could manipulate minds with his eyes, so she had come here to make sure that he hadn't done anything extreme to the others. But Gina raised a brow in confusion when she saw that Oswald wasn't even looking her in the eye. Oswald's face was growing redder as he stared at her chest, and Gina spoke in an irritated voice when she saw where Oswald was looking.

"Hey, you pervert, my eyes are up here."

Gina was wearing a simple pair of jeans and a t-shirt, but Oswald couldn't stop his eyes from trailing down to the way her chest pushed against the t-shirt. Oswald blushed even harder when Gina called him out, and he stammered!

"S-S-Sorry—"

Gina frowned in irritation, and she let out a breath to try to calm her anger before she spoke.

"I asked you a damn question, didn't I? How long will it take before that wears off?"

Oswald rubbed the back of his head sheepishly and told Gina that it shouldn't take more than a few minutes. He only told the superhumans to leave, so they should go back to normal once they get out of Los Angeles.

"Oswald, what are you doing there? Get back to the helicopter and help the others."

A voice called out from behind Gina, and Gina glanced back to see Fredrica standing there with her usual outfit, a long coat over a black suit. Fredrica had a frown on her face, and she gave Oswald a hard look until he quickly apologized and went off to do as he was told. Gina turned to look at Fredrica, and she was surprised to see Fredrica scowling at her in anger. There was some obvious tension between the two women, and Gina wondered what could have caused it. Gina knew that she hadn't interacted with Fredrica at all before today, so the only reason Fredrica could be angry at her was because of something Jason did.

Fredrica scowled at Gina, and she felt an intense urge to give Gina a piece of her mind about what had happened between Jason and Cersai! Fredrica was still pissed at how easily their Head had been kidnapped by Jason, and even though Fredrica still didn't know what happened in that conversation, there was no doubt that Jason had done something horrible to Cersai! Fredrica couldn't believe how ungrateful that bastard was! Cersai did everything to try and protect the world, and this was how he thanked him!? It was so infuriating!

"Is there something you want to say to me?"

Gina said this with a raised brow, and Fredrica scowled even deeper before she finally turned away from Gina. Gina was still confused about why Fredrica was so hostile, but she decided to just ignore it. Gina turned up as she heard another helicopter arriving on the scene, and both women watched in surprise as a figure dropped out from the side of the helicopter and began to free-fall from the sky! Gina narrowed her eyes at the figure, and she felt a scowl form on her face when she realized who that was. Commander Agiel from the Enforcers.

Twoom!

The sound of the sound barrier breaking echoed through the area as Agiel pointed her hand to the ground and unleashed her gift! Three consecutive blasts of air pressure echoed after the first one, and the air pressure allowed Agiel to slow her descent before she finally landed on the ground lightly. Agiel put her gloves back on, and she turned to glance at the dark ball of shadows hanging in the sky. What the fuck is that?

"What are you doing here?"

Gina spoke up with a frown once she saw Agiel, and Agiel turned to her with a scowl of her own. The two women were stuck in a heated stare down for a few seconds before Agiel finally sighed and turned to look back at the ball while speaking.

"Jason was on a mission with me before he came here, so I thought I'd come help out. What the hell is that? Is it some kind of Gift?"

Gina felt irritation bubble up from inside her when she heard Agiel say that Jason was with her, and Gina let out a huff before turning to the ball of shadows as well. Agiel smiled slightly since she could tell exactly what was on Gina's mind, and Agiel decided not to say anything about her and Jason being alone in her hotel room. Agiel knew it would be fun to get on Gina's nerves, but she also knew that this wasn't the time for something like that.

"We analyzed it, but we couldn't sense any mana signatures coming from it. The magical reading is absolutely zero, so we have no idea what it could be."

Fredrica spoke up from behind the two women as she also stared up at the large black ball, and Agiel felt her eyes narrow into a glare. This was problematic. There was no gift or artefact in the world that didn't have some magical signature, so the fact that this was completely zero shouldn't be possible.

"Are you sure your equipment isn't broken? Wait, who are you anyway?"

Agiel turned back to glance at Fredrica in mild curiosity, and Fredrica didn't bother to respond to that question as she got back to the main topic.

"Your ability might be useful against the shadow. If we get you close enough, do you think you can match the frequency and break it down?"

Agiel was still curious about who the hell Fredrica was, and her curiosity increased even more when Fredrica spoke about her Gift like she knew everything about it! Agiel's gift wasn't something that people could understand that well, and other than the doctors who had tested her Gift when she was still young, Agiel had never seen anybody else who could tell exactly how her gift worked! But Fredrica sounded like she knew everything about Agiel!

Agiel was now even more desperate to figure out who this woman was and what organization she worked for, but Agiel had bigger things to deal with right now. Jason was inside that ball of shadows, and if she wanted to help him, then she would need to get in there. But Agiel didn't know if she could match the frequency of something like this. This was similar to what Agiel had tried with fire during the fight against the Radagan Dragonborn. Fire was difficult to synchronize with because of how intangible it was, and that was why it took Agiel so long to learn it. Could Agiel really do this?

'I have to try. I already learned how to handle intangible materials like Fire. So handling shadows shouldn't be an issue if I try hard enough.'

Agiel steeled her nerves, and she turned to nod at Fredrica, and Fredrica acknowledged the nod before she started to make a call to the other Gaia agents to come and pick them up so they could go close to the ball of shadows. But Gina suddenly stepped forward when she felt a tremor pass through the region! The other two women looked at Gina curiously when she did this, and Gina realized that they hadn't felt anything. The shadow abilities that were being used here were all Arcane Arts that didn't require any mana to be activated, so it was very difficult for anyone to sense or analyze the abilities using their regular superhuman senses. But Gina was one of Jason's Legion members, so she was more in tune with shadows because of this, and it allowed Gina to easily feel any changes that occurred in the shadows! And at this moment, Gina could tell that something had changed!
