Hero or Villain, Both

Chapter 271: A sudden class change (3)

Two skills.

Those were the only things that I gained from changing into this unique class.

One would think that there would be more than just this, but this was all that changed with my status screen.

Actually, that wasn't the only thing that changed.

Since I had undergone a class change, it was only natural that I would receive a stat increase as well. And it wasn't a small stat increase, it seemed like all of my stats had gone up by at least 20%.

As expected of a unique class, it really was a full change.

Not to mention that with the shared stats, it meant that everyone experienced this same increase. That meant that with the shared increase in stats, our stats had more than doubled with the number of avatars there were.

So this really wasn't a small increase in power.

This was the kind of increase in power that normal people wouldn't be able to experience even if they trained their entire life, but I had been able to experience it with just a single class change.

Still, that didn't stop me from being disappointed with the skills that I received.

"Finger of Death and Immortality, huh?" I said to myself as I read what these two skills could do.

The Finger of Death one was quite self explanatory.

What I had absorbed was the finger of the Immortal King, one that was filled with that death aura. And the place that the finger of the Immortal King had entered was my finger as well.

As such, I was able to draw on the aura of death that had come with that wisp of energy that I absorbed.

When I used the Finger of Death skill, what happened was that a similar aura of death came from my finger.

Whatever I pointed my finger at would suffer the same corroding effect that I had felt from reaching towards that aura of death previously.

Though when I used it, it seemed like it was quite a bit weaker compared to how it was when I experienced it from the finger bone of the Immortal King.

It didn't even feel half as strong as when it was used on me.

This was just one of those cases where whatever the enemy used seemed broken, but when the player obtained it…it became nerfed to the point where it wasn't considered to be at the same level anymore.

"Finger of Death? It seems more like the Finger of Mild Discomfort…" I couldn't help saying when I used this skill on the pedestal in front of me.

The description of the skill sounded powerful, but really it wasn't that strong in the end.

As for the other skill…

"An immortal body."

That was the only thing that was in the description of the skill.

It seemed like a passive skill based on the description, but it really wasn't nearly enough to tell me what I could do with this.

I was already technically immortal to a certain extent since I was an undead lich, so I couldn't help wondering how much more immortal this skill made me…

But there really wasn't the need or the time to test it now.

With a wave of my hand, I sent the soul that I had summoned away.

It wasn't as if I still had any use for this soul and keeping it around was just annoying.

After all, it had been buzzing in my ears after seeing me absorb the finger bone of the Immortal King.

"This really is an unexpected gain. I never thought that I would find anything related to the Immortal King in this place."

When I came out, I found that the villagers were waiting for me.

They looked in the direction of the room with a concerned look and that was only relieved when they saw me. But the moment that they saw me, I could see that they were looking at me with a strange look.

It was as if they could sense that there was something different about me.

"Village chief, the aura that we felt just now…"

"Yes, don't worry about it. I've already dealt with it."

Their eyes lit up before they asked, "Then do you still have that thing?"

It seemed like I was wrong about them.

They had looked at me not because they were worried about me, but because they were hoping that I would have the thing that had caused that commotion just now.

Once again, it seemed that I had underestimated their fervor for necromancy.

After all, they would be able to tell that this was something that was related to necromancy all because of the aura of death that had been released by the Immortal King's finger bone.

There was a part of me that didn't want to show them, but there was another part of me that knew that there would be no end to this if I didn't show them.

As such, I raised my hand and used the Finger of Death skill.

The moment that they saw this, their eyes immediately lit up.

Even though it seemed like their bodies were instinctively afraid of the aura of death that I released, they were still able to overpower that fear that they felt towards this aura of death and looked to approach me.

But before they could, I stopped using the Finger of Death skill.

They looked at me as if I had just teased them and kept them away from something that they wanted, but I had a reason for this.

"There's no time for this. There's no telling when the higher ups of the Undead Society will arrive, so we need to get out of here as soon as possible."

Though they seemed a bit unwilling, they followed my orders in the end since they knew that I was right.

But they did keep saying, "You have to show us this skill again when we're back in the village."

It seemed that I really underestimated their fervor…
