RISE OF THE MARTIAL GOD

Chapter 71: OUTRAGEOUS

Kaiser's words stunned the elders, leaving them at their wit's end.

"You rebellious child. I have not yet punished you for the massive blunder you made today, and you're already acting up again. Do you believe I can…" His grandfather began to say, waving his fingers at Kaiser.

"Punish me? Do you even have the ability? With what identity? As who are you going to punish me?" Kaiser asked, cutting him off.

"You arrogant child…" The old man spat in annoyance and huffed out a breath of air.

"Child? Who is your child? When did I become your child?" Kaiser interrupted again. By now everyone in the room had ugly expressions on their faces. It was the grand elder, Kaiser's own grandfather. Yet, he was talking to him without respect. Brent smirked, happy with the turn of events.

'Yes, act like this. The more arrogant you are, the more everyone will hate you. The easier it will be to squash you like an ant.

"Kaiser, second young master or not, you're talking to the grand elder, your biological grandfather. How dare you be so disrespectful to him?" Another elder shouted in outrage.

"Look at him. At such a young age he lacks respect, filial piety and a sense of propriety. He's so arrogant. If he can treat the grand elder, his own grandfather this way, what won't he do to the rest of us?" Brent's father shouted in 'righteous indignation', his eyes blazing fire like he was the agent of justice.

"Grandfather? Is he my grandfather?" Kaiser asked with a confused look on his face. He looked so innocent as he spoke, with a look of genuine confusion on his face. One who doesn't know would really think he had a memory loss and can't remember his grandfather.

"What do you mean?" Another member of the elders council asked with a frown on his face.

Kaiser walked to his grandfather, and held his hand with a look of curiosity, like one in a daze.

"Are you really my grandfather?" He whispered, looking up at him.

Brent frowned and muttered, "what's he playing at?"

The same question was also in the minds of other people there.

"What do you mean by that? Are you having a bad memory?" The old man asked, with a look of anger on his face.

Kaiser scoffed at this point and let go of the old man's hand. His eyes returned to the cold circles they normally were and he wore his characteristic disdainful smirk, and looked at the old man from head to toe.

"As far as I remember, my grandfather is already dead. So, you popping out of nowhere claiming to be my grandfather is outrageous."

Everywhere went silent. They knew he was arrogant and domineering, never bothered to mince words, but hearing him call the old man dead right in front of him was a new one.

The moment Brent recovered from his initial surprise, he scoffed, and rolled his eyes. His expression soon turned to amusement.

"In terms of acidic words, I'm indeed inferior to you. You could even curse your biological grandfather with death." Brent said aloud, still smiling as he shook his head.

The old man gasped in exasperation and clutched his chest, like one about to have a heart attack.

"Kaiser, you! How dare you wish your grandfather death when he's alive and well? Do you have a death wish or is the dragon clan a joke to you?" One of the elders shouted in anger, unable to hold it anymore.

The rest were equally discussing in hushed tones, their expressions heated with outrage as they condemned Kaiser vehemently.

"Grandfather? Is he worthy to be called my grandfather? I stand by what I said, the grandfather I'm loyal to is dead! He's dead, totally dead. The one standing before me is just an empty clone." Kaiser announced loudly, adding fuel to the already burning fire.

"You, what do you mean? Do you believe I can break your legs? Kneel down for me!" The old man shouted, waving his finger before Kaiser.

"How about I break yours first? Then we can talk about me." Kaiser said with a devilish smile and took a step closer to the old man.

"I already told you that my grandfather is dead. From the moment you conspired with them to kill my only brother whom I have been searching for, for years, you died to me. From the moment you betrayed me, you stopped existing. That day, I knew the bomb was a trap to draw my attention away. But I left anyway. Do you know why? Because I believed with our grandfather there, no one would dare to play outrageous tricks. I trusted you to protect my only brother, because I believed that no matter how conflicted the interest may be, no grandfather would watch as their descendant is murdered. Unexpectedly, you were actually the one who orchestrated it and approved the resources to put up the seal. For the first time in my life, I experienced a betrayal I didn't see coming. And that day, I realized that my grandfather has long been dead. The one right now is merely an empty shell, not worthy of my respect."

Kaiser stopped before the old man who was looking at him with a mixture of fear, guilt and anxiety.

"I don't know what you're talking about. Besides, if he can't survive the training, it means that he was not worthy all along." The old man growled, his voice firm and unyielding.

Kaiser laughed out loudly.

"He's not worthy? Who do you consider worthy then? Brent? Or his brother Leo?"

The old man gritted his teeth in rage.

"What if I say yes? If Anthony couldn't return, then it's his fault for being too weak."

Kaiser smiled and nodded.

"Indeed, I totally agree. That should be the prerequisite for choosing the next heir."

His words immediately surprised everyone, as they could not understand what he was driving at. His unpredictable words made them uncomfortable because he always leaves disaster in his wake whenever he acts unpredictably.

"Since that's the prerequisite for choosing the next heir, why don't we send Brent and Leo to the perilous lands to undergo the compulsory training before one of them takes over." Kaiser asked, smiling broadly.

"You!" Brent's father shouted in anger and horror. Brent's eyes hardened to two chips of ice and he clenched his fists. He was probably wishing it was Kaiser's neck giving off the cracking sounds instead of his fists.

Kaiser looked at Brent's father and smiled.

"Uncle, there's no need to get worked up. Didn't you guys just say that it was a training to test his capacity to be the next patriarch? Then Brent should also go on this journey. I will personally prepare the resources needed for him to go. If he can return, I will willingly step aside and support his ascension whole heartedly."

"Ridiculous!" Brent's father shouted again before he could control himself. His hands were shaking as he thought about Kaiser intentionally trying to kill his son.

"That won't be necessary." His grandfather said, his eyes cold and unforgiving.

Kaiser smiled and looked at him. "And why should that be? You can't be blatantly partial in broad daylight. There's a limit to how shameless people can be. Your faces are even thicker than mine. Honor and duty my ass. Your elders council motto is ridiculous. So ridiculous and ironic that one can't help but sneer. There's no quality like honor in any of you, nor do you know the duties you were meant to uphold."

His mocking words made them even more annoyed than they already were.

"You're seeking death." One of the elders said in anger.

"It depends on if you have the ability to kill me. From the moment Anthony entered there, you had no intention of letting him return alive no matter how powerful he could be. Knowing that people die within just five minutes of entering the perilous lands due to how dangerous it is, in addition to the malignant energy in there, you sent him there instead of the city of kings ruins where generations of direct descendants competing for the heir's position or merely seeking chance encounters go to broaden their horizon. You even sealed the entrance with such an evil technique to ensure that even if he succeeds in surviving the tribulations, he won't have a way to return till the evil energy suffocates him. This kind of tragedy, indeed, only the dragon clan could execute it perfectly. So ruthless and meticulous. It's truly commendable. In terms of being heartless, I still have a long way to go. Grand elder, you personally approved such a demise for your grandson, yet you are thick faced enough to expect respect from his brother. You truly amaze me."

"Shut up!" An elder shouted. Kaiser stretched out his hands towards the speaker, and like a magnet, he appeared before Kaiser, whose fingers immediately wrapped around his throat.

Everyone gasped in horror as they watched the grand elder's legs leave the ground.

"Stop it immediately. Are you crazy?" Another shouted. Kaiser repeated his actions and the second speaker also ended up in his left hand, he held both of them by the neck, strangling them with their legs mid air, while the rest looked on in horror, too terrified to speak.
