Kaiser tightened his grasp, his eyes cold and demonic. The most terrifying aspect of it was that he was still wearing that same smirk on his face.
"Whenever I'm angry, the sensible thing to do is shut up." He said coldly and flung them high up in the air.
Two people immediately tried to catch them, but they never fell. They remained mid air, as if suspended by an invisible power.
Everyone looked up in surprise, not understanding the reason gravity suddenly refused to do its work. Before they could get over that, the two men began to spin around. Soon, the velocity increased, and they kept spinning around at a frightening speed. Wind was even whooshing around them due to the force of the motion.
Everyone turned to Kaiser, only to see him turning his forefinger lazily in a circular motion. Their hearts immediately went cold with terror. He could casually manipulate two old men with deep cultivation and battle experiences honed by years of life and death situations.
"Stop for me now." The grand elder shouted and summoned his purple flame sword. At once, the temperature of the room rose to an alarming level. He made a vertical slash between Kaiser and the two spinning men, supposedly severing the invisible bond of energy controlling them.
Kaiser smirked and let go and the men immediately tumbled to the floor.
One of them rolled to a corner and began to vomit, motion sick.
The confidence of the people in the room was immediately restored on seeing that Kaiser 'was no match' for the grand elder.
So what if he was a powerful prodigy? The grand elder could still beat him back like a dog. Old ginger is still spicier than new ginger. If he doesn't behave, hmph.
Kaiser continued to smile at them, knowing exactly what they were thinking. And it was exactly what Kaiser wanted them to think. If they don't get complacent, how can they fall into his trap? He withdrew his energy just in time, letting everyone think that it was thanks to the might of the great elder that they were saved.
"Amazing. Old man, you're still as powerful as always. No wonder you don't mind stepping all over me." Kaiser said and clapped lightly.
"Hmph."
The grand elder humphed and called back his sword before facing Kaiser with a dignified look, his hands clasped behind him.
"So when is Brent setting off for the perilous lands?" Kaiser asked again.
"You're ridiculous." Brent's father said.
"Then, he won't be the next in line." Kaiser said and turned to Brent.
"It's already decided. It's not your turn to make comments." The grand elder said with a huff, not hiding his anger.
"Who exactly decides these things? I think you guys are misunderstanding something. It's not your turn to select the next patriarch. And it will never be." Kaiser said, smiling magnanimously at them.
He walked to the chair reserved for the principal heir and caressed it.
"This chair here is indeed beautiful. No wonder many people want it. But none of you can have it. You are not worthy."
The moment he said 'not worthy', he looked at Brent as if the words were meant for him to hear.
"How dare you?" Brent's father said, taking a step forward.
"This position originally belonged to my brother. In his absence, as his closest direct relative, it naturally should be mine. In this case…"
He paused and sat on the chair, making gasps of outrage to rent the room.
"This chair is now mine. That same position you all schemed against him for, I won't let anyone have it. What belongs to my brother, is also mine. If he's not here, none of you should think about getting close."
He then turned to Brent.
"A loser like you is not qualified to dirty my brother's chair."
Brent stepped forward in anger. His face was red and a few veins were already showing. His eyes were also red— he was burning with anger.
Kaiser smiled in anticipation, rubbing his fingers as he waited for Brent to act.
His father suddenly pulled him back.
"Enough! Let's forget about the heir's position for now. Grand elder, the main reason for this gathering is still pending. I think we should address that first before any other thing." Brent's father quickly said, pulling his son back.
"Oh? It seems there's a huge event I'm not aware of. I'm here now. This main issue you talk about, could it be, the matter is related to me?" Kaiser asked, still smiling as he relaxed back into his chair.
"You're right, this matter is indeed related to your arrogant, crude, senseless, petty and malicious way of doing things." His grandfather said, turning to him.
"Arrogant, crude, petty, malicious, and even senseless? Wow. I didn't know I had so many qualities. Pray tell, what did I do this time?" Kaiser asked playfully, tapping his fingers against the chair's arm rest.
Although there was a smile on his face, his eyes were anything but warm.
"Stop playing dumb. The mess you made out there was intentional, wasn't it?" One of the elders said, hitting his staff on the floor.
"How dare you say such things on national television? Are you trying to pull down the dragon clan and ruin the hard work of the ancestors?" His grandfather said, his eyes blazing with fury.
Kaiser smiled.
"The dragon clan is so powerful that they can kill as they please without repercussions. How can a few words from me cause the dragon clan to suffer danger? Unless you all had a wicked plan you were about to set in motion which were ruined by the broadcast."
"You!"
"Presumptuous!"
Kaiser rolled his eyes, allowing them to let out their yells of anger. Brent smirked, his eyes glinting with anticipation. They were getting to the most interesting part.
"The dragon clan is already in a stalemate with the Lin family's Jade king clan. Causing a problem at this point, are you trying to ruin our family?" His grandfather shouted again, glaring at the unrepentant Kaiser.
"I don't understand how my press conference ruined your esteemed dragon clan. Do enlighten me."
The grand elder clenched his fists, knowing that Kaiser was intentionally playing dumb. He didn't want to discuss it at all, nor apologize. He wanted him to say it himself.
The grand elder gritted his teeth, wondering where such an eccentric descendant came from.
"How dare you say we want to kill your brother because you both are from the same branch of the family? Are you trying to ruin the dragon clan by projecting the image of infighting and jealousy to people? And on live broadcast no less. Now the dragon clan is number one on the list of hottest trending searches for all the wrong reasons." He roared, using his spiritual power to push his voice in his bid to intimidate Kaiser.
Kaiser smiled and created a spiritual barrier around himself. Such petty tricks do not pose a threat to him at all.
"Did I say anything wrong? I simply told the rest of the world how amazing our family is." Kaiser replied lazily, still smiling at them.
"You! How dare you? You must think the dragon clan no longer has ways to deal with you." An elder shouted.
"How could that be? I know exactly how amazing the dragon clan is." Kaiser replied and waved his hand dismissively.
Brent's father sighed in exasperation, unhappy with the route the discussion was taking. The rest were easily incited by Kaiser, making them derail from their main mission.
"All this is no longer important, it has already happened. The most important thing right now is to remedy the damage that has been done. This is what we should focus on." He quickly said, expertly controlling the waves.
On the surface, it looked like he was trying to save Kaiser from scolding. While on the other hand, he also reminded the rest about their initial plans.
"Elder Howard is right. As long as you make amends, I won't pursue the matter anymore or make things difficult for you." The grand elder sighed and nodded, acting like a father trying to give his naughty son a way out.
Kaiser smiled and looked at them.
"What do you all want me to do?"
"It's simple. You only need to do two things. The first is to apologize and take back what you said." The grand elder said, smiling with a cunning glint in his eyes.
"Ah-ah." Kaiser scoffed and nodded once. Slowly but surely, they were drawing closer to their main intention.
"What do I do? Words said can't be taken back. Besides, I didn't lie. Why will I make myself a liar? It is impossible for me, Kaiser, to eat my words. Even if I wanted to, my brother is still missing. The rest of the world will believe that you all threatened me to say it which will do more harm than good. Forget it, I won't take it back." He said, maintaining his smiling façade.
"You!" The grand elder shouted angrily.
Howard, Brent's father quickly pulled on his sleeves and winked at him. He took a deep breath and calmed down.
Kaiser saw the exchange and smiled, his expression remained the same as he pretended not to notice.
"So what's the second one?"
The grand elder took a deep breath, as if he was about to say something heavy and important. The eyes of the rest also lit up with greed and anticipation.
"It's even easier. Hand over the formulas to the drugs that were released today, and I will forgive you." The grand elder said, his eyes cold and serious.
Kaiser smiled in disdain. Finally, they said it. The real reason for the summon. They want the formula and patent for the newly developed miracle drugs. The audacity to say it to his face. Indeed, they were filled with overflowing audacity and shamelessness.
