RISE OF THE MARTIAL GOD

Chapter 68: A DIFFERENT LEVEL OF MADNESS

Brent screamed in anger, his eyes red like someone who smoked ten wraps of hard drugs. His head was on fire and he couldn't think straight. This outcome was one which he could not accept.

"Big brother, calm down." Leo whispered, holding his arm.

"That's right, just count it as him being lucky this time. That Brat won't be lucky all the time." Laycon added, patting his back.

Leo had been standing with the guards at a corner, listening to the exchange. He was his brother's right hand. So he was always close by whenever something important was going on. Laycon and their father also arrived when they heard the commotion but stayed away to avoid interrupting Brent's conversation with the mages. He was the head of their family, and everyone gave him that respect, regardless of not being the oldest.

Brent punched Laycon, and pushed Leo away. Laycon fell on a guard but Leo just adjusted his shirt and moved away. Laycon's cultivation was not that high. So, when Brent hit him, he immediately lost balance, unlike Leo who was also a crouching tiger pretending to be a lamb.

The rest of the family only considered Brent the force to be reckoned with. No one realized there was a master manipulator in the shadows controlling things and leveling the field to ensure Brent had an easy time.

"I can't believe this! I can't accept this, someone must have tampered with the soul trapping jar." Brent growled and pushed past the guards, making his way to the main surveillance room.

He unlocked the door with his palm print and entered. He quickly began to play the surveillance in their mansion since the previous week when Anthony was trapped in the perilous lands.

"I don't believe I won't find a clue. He's not some immortal. Heaven help him if he broke into my house." Brent whispered, searching through the videos with Leo watching over his shoulders.

However, after an hour of searching through, there was no sign of anyone entering or leaving the room.

"I don't believe it. Leo, check if someone tampered with the surveillance." Brent said and shifted away from the computer system.

Leo nodded and sat before the computer, silently going through the records. Apart from having a good mind for business and a talent for cultivation, Leo was an experienced programmer, a computer wizard and top hacker. Stealing information was not hard for him. Unfortunately, he had never been able to hack into Kaiser's database, except the one time Rona inadvertently helped him, causing Kaiser losses worth billions. He came to a conclusion, either Kaiser was also a top hacker and programmer, or he had such a genius working for him.

"Leo, how about it?" Laycon asked, unable to bear the silence anymore.

Leo kept a deadpan face, never showing emotions, making it impossible for people to know what was going through his mind. The only emotion he ever shows was what he wanted others to see. He was that calculating and deadly.

"There's nothing. The records are all intact and stellar. It's as clean as it could ever get. No one has tampered with the recording, and no one entered the room where the soul trapping jar was kept." He whispered in a flat voice, not revealing any emotion.

"Impossible!"

"How could that be?" Brent and their father whispered simultaneously.

"This is serious. We need to proceed with caution."

"Kaiser is truly terrifying. How can he call back the soul shards without leaving a trace? Rona…" Laycon began to say, hoping to chip in his own suggestions.

"Shut the fuck up." Leo growled in anger the moment he mentioned Rona, not paying attention to the fact that he was their eldest brother.

Leo's assistant, who was also his maternal cousin, ran into the room at that moment.

"Boss, turn on the television, quickly." He shouted sweating heavily. He looked panicked, and very uncomfortable. His fists were clenched tightly and his face had gone pale.

"What's wrong?"

"What happened?" Leo and Brent asked at the same time, as a sense of foreboding arose in them.

It was not hard to know the identity of the person that could make Dave so frightened. It could only be that demon, Kaiser Meyer.

"Turn on the television. Kaiser is holding a press conference. There's trouble."

"Sure enough." Leo muttered and quickly navigated to the top news channel.

Kaiser's smug smile and proud face greeted them the moment they turned on the television set, making their stomachs filled with bile. His expression immediately made Brent suspicious and he walked closer to the television set.

Kaiser never smiled, unless he was crushing someone beneath his feet or dealing with them. This time couldn't be any different either. He must be up to no good, at least towards them.

"The drugs you just released can treat leukemia completely, yet you sold it at such a decent price. Is there any reason for that?"

"Who was the genius who could develop such amazing drugs?"

Leo immediately turned to Dave the harbinger of unwanted news.

"What do they mean by drugs that can completely cure leukemia? Explain!" He shouted, grabbing Dave by the collar.

"Leo, it's exactly as you saw. He released the drugs that can treat leukemia and all types of kidney problems early this morning. He also revealed the patients the drugs were tested on, alongside their attending doctors. All the patients recorded complete recovery within three days of using it, with no side effects. It was revealed a few minutes ago."

"And why am I just finding out now?" Leo whispered through gritted teeth, wishing he could strangle his incompetent cousin.

"He kept it under tight wraps. Even people working in his companies didn't find out till the press broadcast." David hurriedly explained.

"The drugs went public thirty minutes ago, and it has already created devastating damages. The stock value of our pharmaceutical companies plummeted so fast without giving us a chance to defend. Not just us, numerous pharmaceutical companies are recording losses worth billions. While Kaiser's geo-life pharmaceutical's stock keeps rising rapidly. It has rose more than one hundred percent of its value yesterday, even more than the last time when they released that drug that can correct fetal deformity. It keeps rising every second." Dave muttered and quickly freed himself from Leo's grasp, taking a few steps back to avoid incurring a kick from the angry brothers.

"That bastard! He's targeting me!" Brent muttered and smashed the vase beside him.

Leo clenched his fists and took deep breaths, trying to control himself.

"He did this intentionally to get back at me. He waited till I moved a large amount of liquidity worth billions of dollars to hire the best dark sorcerers, and just when I realized it was a waste of money, he released the drugs. The timing was not too early, or too late, just perfect. Fearfully, freaking perfect. He was watching me make a fool of myself. No wonder he was smirking so much just now." Brent muttered through gritted teeth.

"What is the use of complaining? Even a blind person could see he did it intentionally. Of all drugs to release, he chose drugs that cure leukemia, knowing fully well that our main product is a drug used to relieve leukemia. And he didn't just produce a similar drug, he made one that treats leukemia completely." Leo whispered through gritted teeth.

"Can you tell us the person who developed the amazing drugs? Is he someone we know?" A reporter asked again.

The people in the room immediately turned towards the television set, wanting to know exactly the person they had to thank for the disaster that just befell them.

"Of course, most people know him. The person who developed the drugs is my elder brother, Anthony Meyers." At once, the camera flashes on Kaiser's face multiplied. No one wanted to miss capturing this earth shattering piece of information.

Kaiser smiled and continued, looking straight at the camera as if he was seeing right through it. Leo felt as if he was staring straight at his soul, the mocking smile on his face seemed to say 'I know you guys are watching. How do you like this gift?'

"On the day he returned to the dragon clan, the formula was among the items he gave me as a greeting gift. Everyone knows he's a genius programmer, but unexpectedly, he was also a genius scientist. Although he gave it to me as a gift, I can't bear to take something so precious and of inestimable value. I registered the patent in his name."

"Where's your brother now?"

"The dragon clan sent him somewhere. Unfortunately, he can't show himself for a while." Kaiser said, still smiling.

"Look here. Young master Meyers, look here. Where did the dragon clan send him?"

The smile on Kaiser's face disappeared the moment the question was asked, but he answered it anyway.

"Somewhere the rest of the dragon clan do not want him to return from alive."

The camera flashes intensified even more, with lots of questions in the background.

"Why will they want to kill your brother?"

"Because having someone like my brother and I in the same branch of the family is a threat the rest of the family do not want to see. However, a lion's cub doesn't eat grass. Killing him there is impossible. He will definitely return alive." Kaiser added, his eyes cold and deadly, returning to the gaze everyone was familiar with.

"Has Kaiser gone crazy?"

"This mad man. Does he want to ruin the dragon clan's reputation?" Laycon and Dave simultaneously whispered in horror, not believing that Kaiser would wash the family's dirty linen on live broadcast.

This level of madness, indeed, only Kaiser Meyers can exhibit it to the fullest.
