Anton focused on leveling up his ladder Amazon character. He only exited the game to join everyone for lunch. His Amazon did level up to level 50. Unfortunately, during lunch, Anders wasn't present. Anton's father was in the dungeon together with his mercenary group.
Luna and Anders were ecstatic that he was back, though, since they truly wanted to have the next episodes of Avatar: The Last Airbender. While they were eating, he immediately gave three small globes of browser sharing to the siblings, reminding them to copy the cartoon to a magic item recorder immediately.
"You have to finish copying those within the next two hours. I want Anton to give me three new movies that I can record so we have more movies for the cinema," Romina said.
"Are there not enough movies? I thought we had enough for a long time since you're showing the films once a month?" Anton asked.
"Your father and I decided that three cinemas is the perfect number of cinemas that we can have. The movies you've given us would last us for a few months, but it's still better if we have more on standby. We've already commissioned a lot of magic item recorders," Romina replied.
Thankfully, it was quite easy for Anton to give out copies of movies since he could give out three mini globes of browser sharing. The hard work of copying them to a magic item recorder was being done by someone else.
After lunch, Anton returned to his room and stayed on the balcony overlooking the gardens. The sound of the rain and the smell of the flowers made his room the best place to relax. Instead of continuing to level up his ladder Amazon character, Anton decided to rest a bit by reading an eBook. He purchased the eBook from a very well-known site. He was quite thankful that Anton could use his Diablo II gold to purchase online stuff as long as the items were digital, like movies and books.
The book that he started reading was recommended to him by one of the Diablo II players that he had partied with while leveling up one of his characters. It's a trilogy by the author Barbara Hambly called The Darwath Trilogy. The moment he finished chapter one of the first book, Anton was hooked. Ms. Hambly's command of the English Language was exquisite, and the fact that two people were Isekaid was fun. He also found it funny that the manly mechanic became the mage and the studious librarian became the sword-wielding warrior. He also found the monsters in Ms. Hambly's books, called the Dark Ones, terrifying.
Anton was only supposed to waste an hour of his time reading books, but because of how good the first book of the trilogy was, he kept reading until around five in the afternoon. When he saw that it was late, he stopped his reading and called Mr. Jenkins. He assumed that by then, the television series that he gave to the siblings had already been copied to the magic item recorder, so he gave the butler three new movies to give to Romina to be copied, then informed Mr. Jenkins that he would be living and would be back the day after tomorrow, possibly longer, depending on the situation in Mendoza. After that, he changed the portal's location inside his bathroom so the next time he went home to the Rose Manor, the portal would appear inside the bathroom instead of the center of his room. The portal was highly conspicuous, glowing at the center of the room.

Once he was back in his apartment, he removed the notice posted outside his door and then went to rest.
When Anton went to the wall to the array assigned to him, a guard informed him that his old captain, Captain Leonard, had come to his apartment earlier that day. He wondered what it was about and decided to go to his old squad after his shift was over that night.
At around five in the morning, the Undead Horde retreated. Anton gave the daily tablet of dire wolf summoning to Cedon, then left to meet up with his old squad. He did not care anymore where the tablets ended, since he wanted to lie low. He did not want any attention on him due to the fact that he was returning home to Rose Manor every couple of days using what was supposedly a high-level magic only available for Invincible Wizards and above.
When he arrived at where his old squad was stationed, everyone was glad to see him. Unlike mages, the warriors would need to stay until eight in the morning.
"Captain Leonard! I was told you went to my apartment yesterday. I'm sorry I wasn't available then," Anton said.
"Thanks for coming, Anton, and no worries about that. As mages, we do need to meditate on the things that we have learned. The reason why I went to your apartment was to inform you that Charlie and Fran's wolves died. We hoped that you had more tablets to spare since the wolves were too invaluable for our survival. We're willing to pay the market price, which was 2000 gold coins," Captain Leonard said.
Anton immediately gave the captain two tablets of Dire Wolf summoning.
"You can still pay me the price of 100 gold coins each. I'm still part of your squad. To be honest with you, my new squad didn't feel like a squad at all. There's no coherence since we really didn't need to work with each other. I don't even remember most of their names."
Surprisingly, Captain Leonard gave Anton the full price of all the tablets the team had purchased, including the two new ones. They were extremely grateful that they only needed to pay 100 gold coins for them and not the usual 2000 gold coins, which was what everyone else was paying.
"Did you know that most of your tablets went to rich civilians, and they treated the wolves as pets!" Captain Leonard said angrily.
Anton understood completely since he had the same reaction when he learned about it. The wolves were valuable tools that could save a warrior's life in battle against the undead.
"I know. I complained a lot about that, and I was told that from the day I complained, the tablets would go to warriors instead of civilians."
"Good! It's just made me so angry!" Charlie exclaimed.
"The wolves are extremely powerful, and if they're together, like a pack, their power is magnified and they could take on a group of undead without any problem!" Suvina added.
When Captain Leonard handed the tablets to Charlie and Fran, they immediately used them to summon their Dire Wolves. Anton was startled when Fran immediately hugged her dire wolf and started sobbing. Even Charlie was teary-eyed and was also hugging his dire wolf.
Captain Leonard noticed Anton's surprise.
"We've grown attached to our wolves. I know you've mentioned that they're just mana constructs, but one couldn't help but get attached to something that will do everything they can to save your life, even at the cost of its own."
"How did Charlie and Fran's wolves die?" Anton asked.
"Normally, they wouldn't be endangered if all the wolves were together, especially since they know to retreat if they looked like they would be overwhelmed, but a group of nasty undead were able to reach Fran and Charlie, and their wolves separated from the pack to attack the undead that targeted them. The attack cost the wolves their lives, but it made Charlie and Fran able to retreat safely," Captain Leonard said.
