Marvelous Mecha

Chapter 394 Friend Price_1

A small space trade convoy was rapidly approaching the Bull Planet at 07 times the speed of light from the outer Milky Way coordinates of X235-Y57 in the Black Devil Realm. To conceal their identities, this convoy of 20 civilian vessels was disguised by the military of the Bergheide Super Empire.

Duolin and Sword Dragon sat in the command cabin at the bow of the ship, awaiting instructions from the Military Department. The Capital Planet had received feedback that Bruce's whereabouts were unknown, but the red shuttle departing from the Death Planet was presumed to contain men in black.

The red shuttle had been reported to have arrived at the Bull Planet, but finding a person within the remote star of 42 million inhabitants was no easy task, even if detailed information could be extracted from the spaceport.

Troublingly, the trade convoy was hit by an unidentified beam from the 8 o'clock position as they reached the planet's atmosphere two days later.

"Enemy attack, alarm..." A sudden alarm blared within the shuttle. Had it not been for the energy reaction device of the military warship playing a defensive role, they would have been utterly ruined.

There was no panic within the ship. Instead, upon receiving the enemy attack alarm, the soldiers, disguised as merchants, resumed their positions, demonstrating their professionalism.

An attack on a trade convoy in the Bull Star Field was an unordinary occurrence. With the attackers' identities unknown, the captain ordered the convoy to immediately land on the Bull Planet. Duolin and Sword Dragon's personal safety was paramount, and the fleet quickly formed a net to protect the flagship.

As for the distress signal, they refrained from sending one. Not because they were worried about their cover being blown – their disguise was hard for the common man to detect – but because the Bull Planet's outdated technology lacked a meaningful sense of law, and the spaceport was mostly populated with interstellar merchants.

Successive beams from the outer realm accurately hit several battleships on the outer flank. Amid the repeated flashes of fire in the sky, a meteor shower suddenly hit the Bull Planet. Eventually, the Bergheide space trade convoy managed to land their flagship safely, at the cost of three shuttles.

"Well, well, well, I only took out three...When did my long-distance shooting skills become this poor?" From the distant outer space, Bruce's slightly disappointed voice could be heard. His voice didn't sound as husky and low as it did on the Death Planet, but instead, was gentle and casual, like the boy next door.

"Little BuBu's shooting skills still need improvement."

Little BuBu... Muttering these words, Bruce scowled. "Luo'er, can you stop calling me that?."

"Nope, I like calling Little BuBu that way."

Bruce scowled with an expression of defeat. Who would have thought that the notoriously ruthless Pirate King Bruce would be powerless against the beautiful little girl in front of him? "Luo'er, are you sure that convoy is from Bergheide?"

"Who do you think I, Karlo am? If you dare to question me, I'll..." Karlo threatened, raising her petite fist.

Bruce quickly surrendered. In the whole world, Karlo probably would be the only little girl daring to bully the infamous Pirate King. "So, Luo'er, do you want to go play on the Bull Planet?"

Upon hearing this, Karlo's face lit up with anticipation, but she quickly dimmed. "But our light transport is precious. If we run into danger..."

"Trust me, I'll protect you."

"Yay, Little BuBu is the best!"

The tranquillity of Yatu Town was shattered by the meteor shower in the sky, which was composed of large-scale spaceship debris. Some of it was incinerated before reaching the ground, igniting a forest fire which spread terrifyingly fast...

Several tens of kilometers away in Yatu Town, Feng Yi was admiring his Mecha. He had just received the good news from Uncle Tuolei that the biological Mecha had no defects, but lacked hardware. Tuolei suggested that he should visit other star domains more often. The lackluster facilities of the Bull Planet would do injustice to the high potential of the biological Mecha.

Feng Yi knew he couldn't keep secrets any longer, so he took out the second bombshell - a unique super energy crystal with a label he'd found soon after arriving on the Death Planet. In other words, with this energy crystal, the Mecha would have an infinite energy source.

This unprecedented and ingenious device employs four-dimensional spatial techniques to directly install converted energy onto Space Crystals, using the non-reactive quality of Static Matter from Luminous Crystals as a conversion medium.

Seeing the engine left even Tuolei, with his vast breadth of knowledge, dumbfounded. He possessed minimal knowledge about spatial concepts, but from Feng Yi's explanation, he had grasped what it implied. "Boy, what kind of luck did you have to find this treasure on the Death Planet?"

Feng Yi put his finger to his lips in a shushing gesture. Tuolei was a rural recluse who kept away from worldly affairs, but that didn't mean everyone else around them was the same. The walls have ears, and if the news leaked, he feared he would be exposed. But he had no choice - he did not believe that he, a layman technician, was more skilled than Tuolei. For safety's sake and long-term planning, he decided to ask Uncle Tuolei for help.

After carefully examining it for a while, Tuolei stated that it wouldn't take too long to install in the Mecha, although the process would be troublesome. Consequently, Feng Yi would have to compensate him accordingly, with a service charge or something else; otherwise, the deal was off.

Feng Yi turned black at the face, this big-headed fellow, despite his burly exterior, was an exceptional wheeler-dealer. "What do you want me to compensate with?"

"Hahaha, good boy, you're rather straightforward." Tuolei laughed heartily, his face changing faster than the turning of a page. "Since we're friends, a cost price would suffice. One hundred Laka, not a penny less."

"What? 100 Laka?"

"Yep, installing the converter is quite a hassle, kid. The structure of a biological Mecha is fundamentally different from that of a regular Mecha. I bet you can't find another shop selling the required materials in the Bull Planet, let alone in the neighboring galaxies. You've hit the jackpot."

Damn the jackpot. Laka, which was the main currency in circulation on the Bull Planet, was equivalent to 10 Federal Coins. So, does it mean that installation of this junk would cost nearly one million?

Feng Yi shook his head vigorously at the thought. Already hard-up, he made ends meet by selling obsolete equipment to Blade Warrior, renting out Clapping Tiger to bounty hunters and making a small fortune daily. Otherwise, he would probably starve and live on the streets.

Feeling that the deal's going south, Tuolei, who had been hoarding materials for many years without finding a buyer, feared to lose the customer. Rather than fretting over the deal, he was prepared to give it away at a bargain. So, he sighed and lowered his price, "In consideration of our friendship, I can cut some slack. Eighty Laka, that's the lowest I can go."
