Chapter 5011: Refuse to Speak
“Can’t handle this much?” Feng Jiu sneered coldly, planting her foot squarely on his arm and crushing it clean off. A faint gasp reached her ears.
Only then did she seem to recall Lady Song standing nearby. Withdrawing her foot, she flashed an apologetic smile and turned to her. “Did I scare you? Honestly, I’m not usually like this.”
Lady Song’s heart pounded wildly. Her eyes held disbelief, as if seeing Feng Jiu for the first time. She swallowed hard and shook her head. “I-I’m not scared. I just… I just never imagined Lady Xuanyuan would be like this…”
She wasn’t frightened, but she simply couldn’t have imagined that the gentle, approachable Lady Xuanyuan she’d known these past days could be… this kind of person.
What kind of person? For a moment, she couldn’t find the words to describe her. All she knew was that this Lady Xuanyuan made her feel strangely secure. Everything she herself dared not do, this woman had done.
“Um, Lady Xuanyuan, what should we do with him now? His men are still staying in the guest quarters. If something happens to him…” She glanced at Cheng Wanli, lying on the ground, barely clinging to life after his torture, and felt a pang of worry.
Her worry wasn’t about his death itself, but the trouble it would bring upon the Song family if he died.
“Oh, don’t worry,” Feng Jiu patted her shoulder and smiled. “I’ve got everything covered! Not just them—even if the entire Cheng family came looking, I could protect your Song family without a care.”
Hearing her words, seeing the confidence in her tone and the resolute gleam in her eyes, Lady Song found herself momentarily lost in thought.
After a moment, she said, “Then let’s do this! Drive them out of the Song manor. Such people shouldn’t be allowed to stay here. With my husband away, if you hadn’t been here tonight, the consequences would have been unimaginable.”
Recalling the earlier incident, a wave of dread washed over her. Had Lady Xuanyuan not arrived in time, she feared she might have been…
The thought filled her with fury. Stepping forward, she mimicked Lady Xuanyuan’s action, delivering a vicious kick straight to his groin. “That damned man! I wish I could kill him!”
At this moment, Cheng Wanli could only emit muffled groans and cries of pain. His most vulnerable spot had been struck twice—both kicks heavy and vicious. That he hadn’t fainted on the spot was fortunate enough.
“I heard they came to your manor to retrieve something,” Feng Jiu stated, her gaze fixed on the pale-faced Cheng Wanli on the ground.
“What do they want?” Lady Song froze, utterly bewildered.
“Then we’ll have to ask him.” Feng Jiu smiled, twirling a dagger in her hand as she fixed her gaze on Cheng Wanli. “Speak! Why did you come to the Song manor for? What did you intend to take?”
“You bitch! You’ll never get a word out of me!” he snarled, glaring at the woman in the blue robe.
He seethed inwardly: Once he discovered who this woman truly was, he would wipe out her entire clan! She would have no place to be buried! No—she would die a thousand cuts, suffering every possible humiliation!
“Arghhhhhhh!”
Suddenly, another piercing scream echoed through the room. Feng Jiu, twirling a dagger in her hand, drove it viciously into Cheng Wanli’s thigh. The blade pierced clean through, blood instantly seeping out, soaking his trousers and dripping onto the floor.
