Chapter 3928: Take The Gamble

Chapter 3928: Take The Gamble

Boundless’s return had essentially brought the crisis of the Nests under control for the Tianyuan Megaverse. Humanity had started a counteroffensive against the insects, and they had been systematically clearing them out from parallel universes, but there were simply not enough top experts to settle things quickly.

If the Spirit Nidus wanted to cause trouble at this time, the Tianyuan would truly face a crisis.

Sovereign Dou Sheng clenched his golden cudgel as he stared past the boundary. “They want to cause trouble? Do they even have any experts left?”

Shan Gu was also quite puzzled. “Just what did Lord Lu do in the Spirit Nidus to give you so much confidence?”

Beside them, Mu Zhu calmly stated, “Regardless, they shouldn’t be thinking of making problems for us right now.”

As they spoke, more experts rushed towards the boundary. Sovereign Dou Sheng swept his golden cudgel in a wide arc, clearing a swarm of insects with one stroke. After that, Genesis’s massive form shot through the gate before slowing to halt in front of the Tianyuan’s experts.

Chu Yi’s eyes flashed. “Just as I thought, it’s a Spirit Nidus battleship.”

Before anyone else could react, E' Nan rose up from the battleship’s prow and excitedly shouted, “By the order of Lord Lu, the Spirit Nidus has come to support the Tianyuan Megaverse! As he commands, we will obey without question!”

The Tianyuan Megaverse’s experts stared in a daze. What? Lord Lu ordered the Spirit Nidus to support us?

No one had expected that outcome, not even those who had returned aboard Boundless. When they returned home, Lu Yin had been luring the Immortal beast that had been hunting him away, while the Spirit Nidus cultivators who had been captured had all been taken away by Master Qing Cao.

How had Lu Yin pulled such a thing off? This meant that he had escaped from an Immortal monster and somehow managed to issue orders under Qing Cao’s very nose to force the Spirit Nidus to assist the Tianyuan! It was unbelievable. Absolutely unbelievable.

Ancient God, Wu Tian, Garan Zhiluo, and Lord Xu all looked at Chu Yi’s group in confusion. Was Lu Yin not on the run, as they had thought? Had Master Qing Cao not returned to the Spirit Nidus? What was going on?

Far away, Emperor Slayer’s mouth fell open in stunned disbelief. Just what has Lu Yin done now?

He had heard details of what had happened in the Consciousness Megaverse from those who returned with Boundless, and he had been happy with his decision to flee early on. If not for that, he would have needed to face both the Immortal beast and Qing Cao. However, Lu Yin faced both and still escaped... and he can even order the Spirit Nidus about now? That’s madness!

No one could understand what could have possibly happened.

Su Shidao, Zi Tianshu, and the others observed the Tianyuan’s experts with solemn expressions. As expected, these people were strong, far beyond what they had imagined.

They were able to feel Ancient God’s power, Lu Yuan’s unfathomable depths, Garan Zhiluo’s overwhelming killing intent, Progenitor Yōu Ming’s power, and Mu Ke’s blade qi. The pressure of these cultivators alone stifled the Spirit Nidus.

After all that had happened, the Spirit Nidus had lost its edge. In contrast, the Tianyuan had experienced a massive leap forward. There was no longer any comparison between the two.

The Spirit Nidus was painfully aware that their sole remaining advantage was their numbers. The overall power of the Spirit Nidus’s cultivators surpassed the Tianyuan’s, which was why they were capable of aiding in the current insect crisis. However, when it came to top-tier experts, the Spirit Nidus had fallen behind.

The Tianyuan was no longer the weakest of the three human megaverses.

With Wang Wen and Wei Rong giving them a bit of guidance, the Spirit Nidus’s four battleships sailed to four different parallel universes, where they began exterminating insects.

Upon seeing the bugs that filled the universes, the people of the Spirit Nidus understood why Lu Yin had exterminated all of the bugs in the Spirit Nidus before the vessels left. It was clear that these insects were the crisis that the Tianyuan was facing.

Lu Yin had never shared the exact cause of the crisis, only that the more cultivators who were sent to support the Tianyuan, the better.

They finally knew why.

But... how did these bugs get to the Spirit Nidus? Did Boundless take them? Wait, E' Nan!

Su Shidao suddenly remembered E' Nan. Lu Yin had only found that man right before leaving the Spirit Nidus, but why had the man been in the Spirit Nidus to begin with? Anyone with a brain could reach the conclusion that E' Nan had probably delivered the bugs there.

Realizing that enraged Su Shidao. That man had shifted the crisis over to the Spirit Nidus. Despicable!

To think that I’ve been so kind to him on the way here, how infuriating!

However, he could not have possibly made such a decision on his own. These people of the Tianyuan are truly devious.

Fortunately, Lu Yin himself was not terrible. He had helped the Spirit Nidus by eliminating the bugs there. Judging by that, he had a better personality than most of the people in the Tianyuan Megaverse.

Elsewhere, in the Heavens Sect’s main hall, Lu Yuan, Ancient God, Chu Yi, and others gathered around E' Nan, listening to the message that Lu Yin had left for them.

“Are we supposed to keep them here?” Lu Yuan asked as his brows rose. Killing intent flickered in his eyes. “Do we ‘take care’ of them?”

E' Nan replied, “No. Lord Lu simply means that they cannot be allowed to return to the Spirit Nidus.”

“Why not? You’re not actually saying that they’re going to permanently live here in the Tianyuan Megaverse, are you?” Chu Yi was puzzled.

E' Nan replied, “That’s indeed Lord Lu’s intention. Also, this is only the first group. He wants the current and the next generation of cultivators to move from the Spirit Nidus to the Tianyuan. He wants the Heavens Sect to give them some territory. No matter what, they can’t be allowed to return to the Spirit Nidus for the rest of their lives.”

Wang Wen chuckled. “This plan sounds familiar.”

Wei Rong nodded. “First it was the Sixth Mainland, and then the Three Monarchs Universe was absorbed like this. Is Lord Lu trying to incorporate the entire Spirit Nidus?”

E' Nan shook his head. “I don’t know about that, as Lord Lu didn’t tell me.”

Lu Yuan slapped a hand down on the table. “In that case, let’s find more crises. As long as the Tianyuan remains in danger, they can’t leave.”

“Other crises? How?” Sovereign Dou Sheng was stunned.

Wei Rong smirked. “We can just make something up. The Tianyuan is ours, so we can say whatever we want.”

Ancient God turned around and started to walk away.

“Where are you going?” Lu Yuan asked.

Without even looking back, Ancient God replied, “To talk to Emperor Slayer. We need to make sure that he doesn’t let anything slip. He’s gotten too familiar with the Tianyuan.”

Chu Yi agreed. “True, it’s time for a chat. Let’s also call Astral Anura, the Megalith, and the Pridebeast over. We can all have a chat.”

The plaza beneath the Heavens Sect’s main hall had a cauldron. Inside it, Sapling occasionally stretched its leaves upward, only to retract them again in a disappointed manner.

“He’s sent word.”

Green leaves suddenly reached out, glowing with a pleasant emerald light as they reached towards the speaker. Mister Mu was visiting Sapling.

After returning with Boundless, Wilderness God and the other experts had immediately helped out with exterminating the bugs. Once victory became assured, one of them had taken over the task of restraining the sequence string, which had freed Mister Mu.

The man raised a hand to gently touch Sapling’s green leaves. “He’s safe, and he will return.”

Sapling was happy, and it rubbed its leaves against Mister Mu’s face.

The man stared at the plant and then at the cauldron. He then looked up at the starry sky. “He’s come so far... I have no regrets.”

He then glanced back up at Heavens Sect. With a step forward, he vanished, instantly appearing in the Mirari Realm beside the River of Aeons.

A small boat bobbed along the river. Soft singing drifted out of it.

On the opposite bank of the river stood a graceful figure, who stared at Mister Mu.

He merely glanced across the river and smiled. Lifting his foot, he stepped onto the river. From the riverbed, a cauldron slowly rose up, churning the River of Aeons and causing it to boil.

Wei Nu stared intently at Mister Mu. “Just what are you trying to do now?”

As he stood atop the river, as if held aloft by time itself, Mister Mu replied, “I’m old now, and it’s time to take a gamble. I can’t keep letting my disciple fight alone out there forever.”

“Don’t do anything reckless,” Wei Nu warned. She had never seen someone like Mister Mu before. He was not even an Immortal, and yet he was able to wield more influence over the River of Aeons than an actual Immortal. That cauldron of his was too strange.

Mister Mu simply smiled, saying nothing. His body slowly sank into the cauldron.

Once Mister Mu was completely out of sight did Wei Nu finally unclench her fists. She silently stood at the river’s edge, staring out at it.

...

In the Allsense Megaverse, more than a year had passed since Lu Yin had grabbed hold of the sequence strings. Ming Zhuo and Yu had spent their time exploring the various universes that Lu Yin had connected together. Finally, the day arrived when they brought back news: some of the Devourers had disappeared.

Lu Yin’s eyes instantly snapped open, and he stared at the indicated universe. “Let’s go.”

He immediately entered that parallel universe with Ming Zhuo and Yu.

As soon as Lu Yin was gone, the sequence string that he had seized dispersed. The void shattered with countless ripples, but everything very quickly returned to normal.

The three men entered a parallel universe that they had never visited before. They could see how countless flowers had been torn apart throughout the universe, and they could also see traces of sharp spikes everywhere. It was clear that Devourer had been present, and yet the metal was gone.

It did not take long for them to find traces of a battle that had been fought in outer space. Following the destruction, they then found a spatial passage that was connected to another parallel universe. In the Allsense Megaverse, every universe that contained flowers was connected to others through spatial passages, which had originally been created for the Allsenses to travel through.

In fact, if Lu Yin and the others had focused solely on tracking the Allsenses, they might have eventually found the hidden entity, though that method would have taken at least as much as if not more time.

In the next parallel universe, there were also traces of the metal that could no longer be seen. The next was the same; there was simply no Devourer. Lu Yin used karma to check the Allsenses and flowers, the collisions creating Karmic Lines that he used to find another passage, which they used to press onward.

They searched one universe after another, until finally, they arrived in a universe that was completely different from the others.

There were flowers here too, but each one was as large as the one that had blocked the spatial passage for the two Night Pillars years before. Allsenses filled the region, and countless glowing planets drifted about. Far in the distance stood a massive Mother Tree.

Lu Yin’s eyes flared. Finally, they had found it.

Ming Zhuo and Yu exchanged glances. They had found the Mother Tree, though it had been a painful journey. Without Lu Yin, who knew how long it would have taken them to find this particular parallel universe?

It was not unusual for a war against a foreign megaverse to last for centuries or even millennia. But how long had they been in the Allsense Megaverse? This demonstrated the terrifying power of karma.

The three men advanced towards the Mother Tree, restraining their auras the entire way. They did not dare to release any energy to probe the area, as they feared scaring the hidden entity away.

As soon as they entered the universe, they had felt a silent pressure weighing on them heavily. It felt as though some unknown expert were hiding nearby.

Even for Ming Zhuo and Yu, who were both peak Dukkhans, the oppressive pressure made them uncomfortable.

Lu Yin’s eyes narrowed. The closer they drew to the Mother Tree, the more intense the pressure became.

Additionally, he could hear a faint sound that was quite strange. Is that the sound of wings flapping?

Throughout the entire universe, all that could be seen was the Mother Tree and flowers. There was absolutely nothing else. Lu Yin and the other two shifted their approach, and before long, they were all staring at the Mother Tree’s trunk in stunned silence. There was a creature clinging to the trunk... A moth?

The creature looked very similar to a moth, but its size defied all imagination. It was a third of the Mother Tree’s size. Its translucent body glowed with the same light as the planets. When its transparent wings occasionally twitched, they produced the chilling sound that filled the universe. The entire creature was glued to the tree trunk, seemingly in deep slumber.
