Werewolf Leveling: Building the Strongest Pack in the Apocalypse

Chapter 114: Exceptionally Smart

I looked at all six vampires lying on the ground in front of me.

"I'll turn them."

Isabella's eyes widened.

"You're joking, right?! You can't possibly want them to be a part of your pack."

"That's the only reason I came here."

I approached the first female vampire Isabella defeated. Her neck was broken, so she couldn't move an inch, but she wasted no time scowling at me. She was a beautiful girl with long black hair.

"Why do you smell like a wolf?" she questioned as I got close, but I ignored her and instead lifted her up off the ground. "What do you plan on doing to me?"

Her eyes held a bit of fear as she looked at me, but I ignored it and instead gently swept away the hair covering her neck. Her skin was pale and flawless. Without wasting another second, I sank my fangs into her neck. Immediately, her eyes glowed orange.

The woman now looked at me in utter devotion. I could now tell her to take her lover's life, and she would do it without a second thought. After I turned her, I turned my attention to the man she was entangled with just moments and turned him too. The two of them looked at me as if I were their god.

"I have a mission for the both of you."

"Whatever you command, my alpha."

"There is a town further east from here. It's a settlement run by the military. I need the two of you to attack it."

Without any hesitation, the two nodded, accepting my commands fully.

"So you're using them to attack the other settlements," Isabella commented.

"Yes, that was my plan all along."

As I said before, I need to see the capabilities of the other settlements with my own eyes. I didn't want to use my shadow hounds since it may trace back to me, and I would like to avoid any unnecessary skirmishes for now.

"Don't hold back when you're attacking. Show them the limit of your power as primordial vampires, and if you manage to defeat them, I want you to kill yourself."

"Yes, alpha, we'll do as you command."

I then turned the other vampires and told them to attack the other settlements too. The first settlement they attacked was the one run by the military. Though, I can't really say they attacked it since the moment they even ventured close to the town, they came under assault.

They had a machine gun set up and two snipers in the area. The two vampires I sent were blown to bits in a matter of seconds. I was left amazed when I saw it. These weren't regular guns they were using. I felt it.

There was something different about it. Even after the bullets destroyed the vampires, they still continued to destroy everything in their path, leaving sizable dents in the road.

"I see why you wanted to assess their capabilities. These people are dangerous," Isabella said. She seemed slightly on edge after seeing the two vampires she fought again wiped out like nothing. Even with their healing ability, they couldn't come back from the damage the weapons did to them.

"And to think they are so close to us."

It was just an hour's walk on foot. If they ever decide to expand or begin scouting, then they'll surely run into us. But from what Nyra said, they are mostly holed up inside the town they had taken over; almost like quarantining it from monster and supernatural threats.. Right now, they must have a lot of food and supplies, but the moment those supplies run out, they'll likely go on the hunt.

"What will we do about them?" Isabella asked.

"For now, nothing. I only needed to know the type of people I was dealing with so I could plan ahead."

Having gotten what we wanted, we headed to the next settlement where two of the vampires would attack. It was the settlement run by humans living inside an abandoned factory. The vampires managed to infiltrate their ranks relatively easily. There were quite a few awakened humans among them, and they fought well against the vampires.

In total, there were 5 awakeners fighting against the vampires. They seemed a bit arrogant, making a game out of their battle. I suspected that none of those who were fighting was the leader and i bet there were more awakeners. In the end, they tortured the vampires before finally killing them.

The next settlement was the family holed up in their mansion. Nyra was right; I could hear their generator running. The moment I saw where they lived, I was left amazed. They had built fences and walls to keep the zombies out; they even set up intricate traps.

This made what I was about to do even more crucial. I had given the vampires special orders to destroy the generator. I also told them to destroy the walls, the traps, and the mansion as much as possible without killing any of the people inside.

"Is there a reason behind your orders?" Isabella asked.

"There is always a reason behind my orders. Look at these people and tell me what you think."

Isabella frowned and began examining the people in the mansion we were looking at from a distance.

"I see a family struggling to survive," she replied flatly, not giving it much thought.

Sigh.

Unlike Selthia and Eira, Isabella wasn't one to think too deeply into things. Though she can be quite perceptive at times if she tried.

"It's been over two months since the apocalypse started," I began to explain. "And in that time, humans went from the top of the food chain to the bottom. Only supernaturals and awakened humans stand a chance against the demons that invaded us."

"I know that." She frowned "i know they don't stand a chance against the demons or whatever monsters that will come after them. That is why they are dying out at such a fast rate. But what does that have to do with this?"

I smiled at her. She still wasn't getting the bigger picture about what was in front of us. From the moment Nyra told me about this settlement I had a feeling that we might've struck gold.

"think about it... What if I were to tell you that a group of weak creatures have managed to survive for two months all without the help of any awakeners or supernaturals? What would you think?"

Isabella's thought about the question and suddenly her eyes widened as if she had finally gotten what I was saying. A smile tugged on her lips as she finally began to understand how special these people were.

I didn't know who these people were, but there wasn't any doubt in my mind that at least one of them was exceptionally smart. It takes a special kind of person to survive this apocalypse for so long with power of their own, all while living such a cozy lifestyle.

Someone smart enough to transform their home into something that can withstand the apocalypse is bound to be invaluable to my pack.
