"You're the WORST guide in history!" Jax shouted.
Seris rolled her eyes. "And you're the most pathetic pervert I've ever met."
"I asked for TEN SILVER! That's NOTHING to you!"
"It's the principle!" Seris crossed her arms. "Why should I fund your brothel adventures?"
"Because your mother asked you to help me!"
"She said show you around. Not bankroll your dick."
Jax's jaw clenched. "You know what? Forget it. I don't need your help. Or your money. Or your judgmental ass."
"GOOD!" Seris threw the stuffed panda at his face. "Find your own way back to the palace!"
She stormed off, disappearing into the crowd.
Jax stood there, fuming, panda at his feet.
'Fucking princess. Fucking royal family. Fucking broke-ass transmigrator life.'
He kicked the panda.
'I need money. And I need it NOW.'
Jax wandered aimlessly through the capital, his frustration mounting with every step.
'Soul Thief is really not safe not right now, I don't know if Selis would still be there watching me or someone else . Shop's locked. No quests. No DP to farm without targets.'
He passed merchants, nobles, guards. All potential marks.
'I could steal. But that's risky. I could con someone. But I'm not a smooth talker yet.'
His thoughts spiraled darker.
'Back on Earth, everything was simple. Win tournaments. Get paid. Done. Here? I'm a fucking beggar with a Lewd system that's LOCKED.'
Then he saw it.
A church.
Massive. White stone. Stained glass windows depicting gods and heroes. Spires reaching toward the sky like fingers of divinity.
'Beautiful.'
Jax had never been religious. Not on Earth. Not here.
But something about the architecture drew him in.
'Might as well kill time.'
He pushed open the heavy doors.
Inside the Church,
The interior was even more stunning. Rows of polished wooden pews. Candles flickering along the walls. A massive statue of a robed figure at the altar—some god Jax didn't recognize.
And voices.
Jax ducked behind a pillar, listening.
Two young women knelt before a priest. No—a Pope, judging by his ornate robes and ridiculous hat.
Both women were stunning. Sisters, clearly. Same delicate features, same golden hair. One wore a modest blue dress. The other, green.
"Father," the one in blue whispered, her voice trembling. "We have sinned."
The Pope's voice was deep, authoritative. "Speak, children. Confess your sins to the gods."
"We... we stole a Jewellery," the green-dressed sister said. "From a merchant. We planned together, and—"
"And we lied to our mother about it," Blue finished. "Told her we bought it."
Jax almost laughed. 'That's it? Stealing Jewellery? These sheltered idiots have no idea what real sin looks like.'
He was thinking of his sin and then a image of hell came out of nowhere.
The Pope raised his hands dramatically toward the statue. "Hear their confession, O Great One. Guide me in your wisdom."
Silence.
The Pope stood perfectly still, head bowed, as if listening to an invisible voice.
'Oh, come on. He's faking it. Classic priest theatrics.'
Then an idea struck Jax. A terrible, brilliant idea.
'Wait. What if I...'
He grinned.
'Oh, this is too good.'
Jax sat on a bench near the back, hidden in shadows.
He focused. "Soul Thief."
[TARGET FOUND]
[NAME: Undefined]
[CONFIRM? YES / NO]
"Yes."
SNAP.
The world flipped.
Jax gasped. He was standing now. Taller. Heavier. His hands were wrinkled. His back ached.
'Holy shit. I'm old as fuck.'
He looked down at the Pope's ornate robes. Gold embroidery. Velvet lining.
'And apparently rich.'
He turned his attention to the two sisters, still kneeling with their heads bowed.
Jax cleared his throat, pitching his voice to match the Pope's gravelly tone. "The gods have spoken."
The sisters looked up, hopeful.
"Your sins," Jax continued, "are not easily forgiven."
Their faces fell.
"But," Jax raised a finger dramatically, "the gods are merciful. They offer you a path to redemption."
"What path, Father?" Blue asked eagerly.
Jax paused for effect. 'Here we go.'
"To cleanse your souls, you must... engage in intimate relations with a man."
Silence.
The sisters blinked. "What?"
"The gods have decreed it," Jax said solemnly. "Your bodies are temples. And temples must be sanctified through sacred union."
Green's face turned red. "Father, I don't understand—"
"It is not for you to understand," Jax interrupted. "Only to obey."
Blue stammered, "But... how will we know who this man is?"
'Perfect question.'
Jax gestured toward the statue, as if consulting it again. Then he turned back to them.
"The gods will send him to you. You will recognize him by his appearance." He described himself in precise detail. "Dark hair. Sharp features. Wearing a leather tunic with silver clasps. Approximately this tall."
He gestured to his original body's height. "When you see him, you will know. He is the vessel of divine will."
The sisters exchanged uncertain glances.
"But Father," Green said hesitantly, "are you certain this is—"
"Do you question the gods?" Jax's voice boomed.
Both sisters flinched. "No, Father!"
"Then go. Prepare yourselves. The chosen one will find you soon."
They stood, bowed deeply, and hurried out.
The moment the door closed, Jax's timer hit zero.
SNAP.
He was yanked back into his own body.
Jax sat up on the bench, grinning like a maniac.
Across the room, Pope Aldric stood frozen at the altar, staring at his hands in confusion.
"What... what just happened?" the Pope muttered. "I... I was here, but I wasn't... Did the gods truly speak through me?"
Jax stood, walking toward him slowly.
The Pope turned, seeing Jax for the first time. "You. Were you here the whole time?"
"Yep." Jax's smile was pure evil. "Great sermon, by the way."
"Sermon?" The Pope looked lost. "I don't... I don't remember what I said."
"Don't worry about it." Jax clapped him on the shoulder. "I'm sure it was divinely inspired."
He turned to leave, pausing at the door. "Oh, and Father?"
"Yes?"
"You might want to avoid those two sisters for a while. Things could get... awkward."
The Pope stared, utterly bewildered. "What do you—"
But Jax was already gone.
Jax followed the sisters,
Jax tracked them easily. They lived in a modest house on the edge of the market district.
He watched from a distance as they entered, whispering to each other nervously.
'Perfect. Now I just wait for the right moment.'
He gave them ten minutes. Let them settle. Let the anticipation build.
Then he approached the door.
Knocked.
Footsteps inside. A pause.
The door opened a crack. Blue peeked out.
Her eyes widened. "It's... it's you."
Jax smiled and then acted professionally. "What do you mean its you? I came here to ask for my friend's house who used to live in this neighbourhood"
She opened the door fully. Green stood behind her, equally stunned.
"You... you're the one Father described," Green whispered.
Both sisters nodded, trembling.
Jax's grin widened.
'Oh, this world is too easy.'
