SSS Ranked Awakening: Starting With My Limitless Cosmic Shadow System

Chapter 0089: Modret vs Purple Masked Assassin

Modret raised his gaze upward upon sensing someone's eyes on him.

There he saw a figure standing on the most towering of them all.

A cape floated gently behind her, and on her face… was a purple mask.

Instantly, Modret's pupils dilated in shock the moment his eyes landed on the lady.

The lady cast a fleeting glance at Modret, then shifted her gaze back to the group of awakened.

In her hand Modret saw she was gripping the head of a young man tightly.

"The City Lord???"

"It's really the City Lord!" screams erupted from the awakened behind Modret.

He could even hear the shock and horror in their voices.

He glanced at them briefly through the corner of his eyes, then his gaze shifted back to the mysterious lady.

"Eliminate them all…" the lady pointed at the group of awakened, including Modret.

The moment her voice fell, the towering zombies behind her began moving towards them.

At first the zombies were slow but they quickly picked up speed and in the next instant, they had reached the location of Modret and the awakened.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Thunderous sounds rang out into the air as the towering zombies used their size advantage to release devastating punches.

Due to the sheer force and speed behind their punches some of them were caught up in the attack, leading to their death.

However there were still others that reacted on time and easily escaped the attack from the zombies; Modret was among this group.

After dodging to the side he stabilized himself.

Since the start of the fight his gaze had never left the lady with the purple mask even as she gazed down at them, her eyes dripping with disdain.

Modret frowned at those eyes and internally he was already calculating how to swiftly deal with her.

There was no need to think too much about it; the best course of action was to be direct about it.

'However I doubt this group of awakened will last long under the assault of these zombies,' he analysed internally.

'I can only leave their fate up to them…' Modret thought grimly, then made his move.

Lightning and black fire danced around him as he seemed to traverse through space and appear in front of the lady with the purple mask.

The moment he appeared, the lady shifted her gaze to him; however Modret's attack was already on her and his hand, which was crackling with lightning, was just inches away from her face.

'He's… fast,' the lady thought in surprise.

But she didn't pause in her command and in the next instant, Modret felt as though he had encountered a solid barrier shielding the girl.

Bang!

His attack only managed to graze the mask of the lady before the barrier appeared, repelling Modret's strike.

"You… grazed my mask with your attack…" the lady muttered in a low voice, but Modret could sense the anger in her words.

She raised her gaze to meet Modret. "This mask was given to me by Master. It should be the last thing you dream of touching… Groot, eliminate him."

The moment the lady gave the command to the towering titan she was standing on, Modret felt a chill run down his spine.

He stabilized himself, and noticed a massive palm heading towards his location.

He realised it was the same palm he had noticed previously in his fight against the other zombies.

Sidestepping lightly, he dodged to the side and closed in for an attack once more.

This time he wasn't even able to get close enough to the lady before the attack landed on the barrier she had set up.

Bang!

Modret retreated once more, landing on the ground.

'This barrier… is a problem. I have to eliminate it to be able to deal with her. There is only one way….'

Having a thought, Modret stretched his hand and the next instant black flames erupted violently from his palm, swiftly condensing into five lotus flowers.

They rotated and spun around before swiftly darting towards the lady.

Her pupils shrank in shock.

"What the hell are those?"

The lady could sense the destructive aura radiating from the black-fire lotuses and she could instantly tell that should any one of them hit her she would most likely turn to ashes.

She didn't panic, using her undead to set up a barrier around her.

Just like before the attack collided with the barrier, but this time it was different.

The lady watched in shock as the barrier began to crack apart as though it was melting.

Then from nowhere a bolt of lightning as fast as the wind slashed through the air and violently shattered the barrier.

Modret didn't give her a chance to catch her breath, and immediately sent another bolt of lightning to stun her, and some shadow-puppet strings to deal with the towering zombie that was already beginning to counterattack.

He knew this was his only chance to completely kill her…

And he wasn't going to miss it.

'I… have to do something, counterattack!' the purple-masked lady was filled with panic internally.

She struggled frantically to create a breathing space for herself, but Modret didn't give her a single moment to catch her breath.

A barrage of attacks landed on her, ranging from lightning to the null fire.

The fire danced around her, consuming her whole.

Arrrrrrrrgggghhhhh

A piercing scream echoed into the air as the lady felt as though her soul was being burnt alive.

It reminded her of the endless torment and pain she faced before finally encountering him…

Her master.

The thought of her master lingered in her mind even as the fire consumed her.

Her master had always told her of her weakness as a necromancer, but she never believed him, thinking that no one would get the opportunity to come so close to her.

However…

'Am I going to die?'

Modret didn't care what thoughts the lady was having as the black flames continuously consumed her.

He could recall Troy who was also a purple mask and, according to the woman from the Axarel family, he possessed a celestial core, so Modret—the purple-masked illuminati in front of him—also possessed the same.

There was only one way he was certain of dealing with her.

Burn her.

Burn her until there was nothing left of her, not even the celestial core.

At the thought flames erupted even more violently from his hand…

After feeling enough time had passed, Modret finally stopped the flames that were erupting from his hand and stared at the result of his attack…
