Modret raced through the streets filled with zombies, and he could hear thunderous sounds as he approached the source of the commotion.
Along the way he began encountering awakened ones the deeper he delved into the city, and he could see varying degrees of display of abilities.
Along the way Modret frowned, seeing that the zombies were becoming deadlier and the aura they radiated was becoming extremely intense.
In fact, there were even zombies that were evenly matched with the awakened ones, releasing all sorts of abilities to counter their attacks.
Their attacks grew stronger and stronger, and it reached a point where Modret had to stop because he could no longer proceed further due to the intense destructive might of the attacks being released by the zombies.
He frowned slightly, his gaze reaching towards the distant space as he caught sight of a massive claw stretching into the distance and exploding a building into countless fragments.
Modret reduced his speed, deactivating the Elemental Sovereign state, and gently landed on the ground in a secluded location before coming out into the crowd of awakened to face the zombies with them.
"Oooi, what are you doing here, kid? If you don't want to get killed easily, you should head back to somewhere safe!" one older man advised with a loud shout as he released a burst of wind from his hand, sending the zombie he was fighting flying backwards.
Modret glanced briefly at him, then stretched his hand towards the zombie that the man was fighting.
Bang!
A projectile of lightning shot forward, destroying the creature in a massive attack.
No longer paying attention to the man, he moved forward, weaving through the remaining awakened ones with careful and precise steps.
"Stay focused!" Modret called out. He slashed a zombie in two with a lightning rod that rapidly formed in the air, then stepped over its remains.
The crowd of awakened fighters turned to him as he reached them, their faces a mixture of relief and wariness. "You came to help?" one shouted, dodging a zombie's swipe.
Modret didn't answer. He only nodded briefly and decided to engage in the fight with the zombies.
The zombies were relentless in their attacks, and they pressed harder. Some were fast, some had unnatural strength, and a few unleashed abilities that even the awakened had trouble countering.
Modret dodged a poison dart that was heading his way, then released a terrifying null fire attack.
The poison turned to ashes, and so did a few groups of zombies.
"A dual-ability user?" the group of men exclaimed aloud.
"At least there is now a chance of survival!" Most of the awakened noticed that Modret was not only at the galaxy realm but was an extremely strong galaxy realm awakened.
With his help, dealing with the horde of abominations no longer seemed impossible.
One of the difficulties they faced previously was that there were very few abilities that could take down the zombies completely, in essence turning them to ashes like Modret did. But with Modret now present…
The fighting spirit within the group of awakened surged once more.
A group of zombies ran rapidly towards them, combining their strength to take down an awakened who had been fighting alone since Modret had appeared. Modret quickly intervened without hesitation, slicing through them cleanly with his lightning attacks. The fighter nodded quickly, recognizing his presence and support.
"Focus! Don't let your guard down!" Modret shouted at the other awakened, noticing that they were distracted, his voice cutting through the chaos.
The awakened immediately redoubled their efforts, inspired by his presence. Zombies that had been cornering fighters now found themselves destroyed before they could act.
The awakened rallied around Modret, their confidence growing. They moved as one, relying on his attacks to create openings. Modret adjusted his position constantly, making sure none of the zombies could isolate a fighter.
Another wave surged. This time, the zombies were faster, some leaping from broken rooftops with terrifying accuracy.
Modret raised both hands, electricity forming a network of arcs in the air. Lightning struck each of the attackers in the air as they descended, their screams filling the streets before they turned to ash.
The battlefield began to resemble something more organized as Modret led the charge, dictating the flow of battle.
A zombie with reinforced limbs barreled toward a group of fighters, faster than the others. Modret's eyes locked on it, and without hesitation, he released a concentrated bolt of lightning, piercing through its chest.
Simultaneously, a wave of black fire spread from his feet, incinerating the ones nearby.
The group of awakened fighters cheered briefly, though it was cut short by another surge of zombies.
Modret didn't falter; rather, he moved among them fluidly, electricity arcing from his hands, as black fire swept from the ground to consume the zombies who came too close to the group.
Even the more skilled awakened fighters began to rely on him. Whenever a zombie's ability threatened to overwhelm them, Modret's intervention was immediate. A spike of lightning here, a wall of black fire there, and the crisis would immediately be resolved.
Feeling that the battle was gradually coming to an end, Modret noticed that the zombies had thinned visibly, with only a few remaining.
Modret's figure vanished as he moved among them, lightning snapping from his fingertips, black fire sweeping across the street. Every strike annihilated zombies instantly, and within a few seconds he had dealt with all the zombies present.
Finally, Modret could exhale a relieved sigh.
"Keep moving," he said quietly, almost to himself, and then turned back toward the heart of the city, ready to face whatever came next.
The streets fell silent for just a heartbeat, the tension before the next wave pressing down like a storm waiting to break.
Modret's eyes glinted. There was no hesitation in his step as he advanced. The fight was far from over.
And then, from the heart of the city where his gaze was, a group of massive, unnatural zombies appeared.
Modret raised his gaze upward upon sensing someone's eyes on him.
There he saw a figure standing on the most towering figure of them all.
A cape floated gently behind her, and on her face… was a purple mask.
Instantly, Modret's pupils dilated in shock.
