Reborn As The Barbarian God

Chapter 74: Blood searching set I

After the meeting and after Lady Pelica returned to her room, Galthor began another type of meeting, but this time he took the masters outside to the back of the building.

"Let's just wait for Brakthar, and I will try out this relic before any of you. We'll then head to the Abyssal Land after if it's successful."

They all nodded and waited patiently for Brakthar to return with the chief's request.

It didn't take long for the barbarian to return with some of the advanced warriors, and between them, they pulled seven cows.

"Chief, do we really need to buy this many cows? They're so expensive! You know the merchant in town doesn't like dealing with live animals, as they are hard to care for here," Brakthar complained.

Galthor looked at him patiently. "Although we do have meat to feed our people, what would happen once we go to the Abyssal Land? I don't even know how many days we'll have to spend deep in that place. Or if anything went wrong, how will we feed them?"

Grimvar answered before Brakthar had the chance. "We can still hunt! We just won't go too deep."

Galthor shook his head. "Once the activities in the Abyssal Land begin, you are forbidden from entering, and that goes for everyone. We don't know what effects it would trigger."

Grimvar looked sullen but he nodded. He could not disobey his chief's orders.

"And the cows are not only for food. They're here to test the blood-searching relic."

Galthor raised his hand and the relic in dagger form floated up to hover in front of him. He stared at it for a while before moving away from the others.

Since he didn't know what would happen, it was better to be careful. To put it simply, he did not trust Lady Pelica.

With a mental command, he activated the relic.

A silver fire consumed the dagger, but instead of it collapsing, it turned into a wave that flew up and covered Galthor like a shroud of darkness, enveloping him from head to toe.

The silver light then turned into a heavy grey armor around him, and at the same time, it formed into a long sword. Immediately he could feel the increase in his strength and speed.

He took a step forward, and the ground cracked as he stomped on it. "This is incredible!"

An aura also surrounded the armor, as if it had been drenched in blood for the longest time. It was vicious and wicked.

What he liked most was the fact that he could control the armor at will, shaping it to his comfort. He could also tell that, with a thought, he could, if he wanted, turn all the armor into only a weapon and thereby increase its durability, or only armor to get the same effect.

At least Lady Pelica did not lie in this matter. "It works just like she said. My strength has doubled; it seems even more than that, and I have perfect control of it."

"Then what about the blood situation?" Ashclaw asked wearily.

As much as the masters wanted the relics, they were also wary of the bloodletting that Lady Pelica spoke of. None of them wanted their blood drained from them.

Galthor ignored them and raised his hand. With a mental command, he let a drop of blood from him materialize through the relic.

His blood was a deep red that seemed to be the reddest blood that ever existed, and looking at it gave one the impression of gazing at something dignified.

'..my blood is changing with my whole being. Makes sense though. I must be careful of where and how I spill my blood now. It would be dangerous to do so in the wrong place..'

With another thought, he flicked his finger, and his blood shot off like a bullet, hitting one of the cows and totally destroying the animal.

The blood hit through the head and instantly shattered it. The remaining shockwave slammed into the rest of the animal; bones broke, flesh twisted and tore, spraying blood like mist.

It was as if what hit it was a bomb.

Galthor stared at it with shock. He was certain it wasn't the effect of the relic; it was his own blood that provided that effect by itself. The relic only guided it. "Impressive."

"Chief... what was that? Is that the effect of the blood attack?"

"Can we also do that?"

"This relic is sure impressive!"

The excited voices of the masters and some of the advanced warriors rose into the air in praise.

Galthor shook his head, then hesitantly replied, "It's not just the relic. It's because it's me. Now, let's test the second attack method."

He pointed at the scattered body of the animal, and in an instant, the blood regrouped and rose into the air into a glob. He gestured, and the big ball of blood began to float toward him and at the same time began to shrink.

By the time it reached him, the blood had already solidified to the size of a bulb.

"Let's see what you can do."

Just like before, he fired the blood like a bullet at another cow. And this time, when it hit, it was just as expected. The head of the cow was crushed, but nothing happened to the rest of the body.

'..so it was my blood alright..'

He still held the blood he fired, so he extracted it with the other blood from the second dead cow and made the two hover before him.

He stared at the blood critically. "How does the relic drink blood?"

"Maybe you are the one that's supposed to drink it, Chief," Karathra said, sounding amused.

Galthor snorted. "When it's your turn, you're free to drink the blood and even eat the flesh. But for now, let's see..."

It turned out he didn't have to think very far about what to do. The relic understood. The blood touched his armored hand, and it was sucked in.

And with that, he successfully deactivated the relic.

"Not bad. Take care of the cow; it'll be your food later. Now, let's go to the Abyssal Land to give this thing a proper test!"
