Mecha Devourer System

Chapter 92: Combat Class Simulation (I)

"Protocol 404. This is Command Endric making contact with Ever. Come in."

The words rang out through a world.

A world filled with endless skyscrapers, the shortest of which was a five-story building.

Explosions rippled continuously through the skyscrapers, shattering glass into fragments as smoke billowed into the air.

Yet, on one of these skyscrapers, dressed in a white-blue military outfit, sat a young man.

Legs swinging rhythmically in the air, blue hair whipping around in the breeze, his hand reached for his ear where a beeping pod lay, and he tapped once, replying.

"Protocol 404. This is Ever."

"Ever. Give your status report."

"Zero injs. Zero probs. Ready to move," he replied to the pod, eyeing a massive destruction that had completely blown apart the entire top of a ten-story building, reducing it to eight while cracks ruptured through the glass all the way to the bottom.

"Protocol 404 has lost connection with Alv and Daph."

"Last sight recording sent."

He said, Everlearn focused on the holographic screen before him.

Right in it, he could see the image that seemed to have been taken mid-explosion.

A girl and a boy are being flung out of a building.

His eyes trailed to the corner of the image, where he found the image of a massive green hand with claws.

"Bestowing a mission to give support, ASAP."

"Mission accepted. Coordinate requested?"

Everlearn replied,

"178 North, 65 West, Fourth Iaricon Scraper."

"Orders received. Over."

He tapped the pod, severing the call.

His hands pushed against the ground he sat on, and he threw himself up, landing crouched on his feet.

Eyes tuned to the distance, the world zoomed beneath his gaze, and he locked in upon the coordinates.

"Begin distance countdown."

BOOOOOOM!

An explosion rumbled through where Everlearn had stood, cracks littering the wall of the skyscraper as the entire glass around the floor shattered into fragments.

He pierced through the air like a bazooka, wrapping into a ball as he slammed into the glass wall of a second skyscraper.

SHATTTTTERRR!

STEP.

STEP.

STEP.

The sound of hurried footsteps continued as a figure blurred forward, slamming through glass after glass before—

SHAAATERR!

Another loud shatter, and he burst out of the building.

SCREEEEEECHHH!

An ear-piercing screech rang out as a massive maw lined with blade-sharp teeth appeared before him, belonging to a gigantic bird covered in pitch-black feathers.

It clamped down toward Everlearn, shutting on him.

Less than five seconds had passed when the bird's head suddenly ballooned to thrice its normal size.

BUUUUUUUURRSSSST!

A massive explosion, but there was no blood raining.

Just the bird hulking frame erupting into motes of blue that dispersed in the air.

His figure tore out of the bird's brain.

BAAAAAAANG!

SHAAATER!

He slammed into the glass of another skyscraper, shattering it into fragments as he rolled on the ground before shooting back onto his feet.

BOOOM!

BOOOOOM!

BOOOOOM!

"100 meters…"

"80 meters…"

"50 meters…"

"10 meters…"

The countdown rang out from Everlearn's ear pods as he reached the end of the skyscraper.

SHATTER!

The glass once more shattered into pieces, as he appeared in the air, turning downward just in time to see a body sent flying out of a building like a rag doll.

He rolled in the air, gently landing on the glass of the skyscraper opposite, its surface rippling like waves on the sea.

In the next moment, it shattered into pieces as Everlearn burst toward the ground.

Landing, he straightened, his hands reaching forward, and catching the body that had been sent flying.

The impact drove him backward, sliding nearly ten meters before he came to a stop.

Turning down, in his hands was a lady.

Long green hair, a face marked with signs of damage, and eyes tightly shut, clearly bracing for impact.

Daphne had been blown away, and with such speed, she had awaited a heavy collision with the ground and, naturally, the stinging pain.

Yet, she felt herself landing on something strong.

Strong enough to hold her immediately, yet soft enough to give her no pain.

Opening her eyes, she met with the sight of those clear blue irises.

"You… Everlearn!?"

KAAAABOOOOM!

A louder explosion came from the front as Everlearn moved from where he stood.

BOOOOOOOM!

The ground where he had been standing was blown through just 2 seconds later as a vehicle was roughly thrown along the ash-covered terrain before it exploded into flames.

BAAAAANG!

"Protocol 404: Daph secured."

"Take cover and report status with Command Endric when you get back signal."

Everlearn said as he placed her sitting by the side of a large container before he rose and, in the next moment.

VROOOOOOOOOM!

The air flapped, Daphne's hair blowing roughly in the wind, and her eyes shut close from the suddenness.

She opened them when they quelled, but he was long gone.

She immediately rose to look where he had disappeared to, but couldn't find him.

KAAAAAABOOOOM!

An even more powerful explosion erupted in the distance at that moment, forcing her to duck back behind the wall to avoid the ensuing shockwave.

____________

THRRROM!

THRRROM!

Blue bullets flew rapidly through the air, fired by a young man who stumbled backward while unloading both pistols in his hands as fast as he could.

His opponent?

None other than a green humanoid creature standing 3.5 meters tall with four massive claws for arms.

It moved with incredible speed and strength, hoisting a vehicle weighing over 3,000 pounds off the ground and using it as a shield against the bullets while charging toward the young man.

"Shit!"

Alvard cursed, but he didn't remain where he was.

When the Nakrosc reached five meters away, he bounced off where he stood.

Jumping off the skyscraper, he was thrown into the air, hanging upside down with both guns directly above the Nakros.

THRRROM!

THRRROM!

Bullets were rapidly fired out, but the Nakros shielded itself with the car it had dragged.

When Alvard landed back on his feet, he pulled the trigger, but the pistol fired nothing.

He had run out of bullets!?

"Fuck!"

He cursed.

He reached behind him to grab a bullet, but his eyes widened when he heard a sharp whistling sound.

Turning around, he was met with the sight of a car spinning wildly toward him, having been flung forward.

His hair flapped insanely, jaws falling off.

It was too fast...and now too close.

He couldn't move an inch, his brain freezing in his skull.

"I'm dead."

VROOOOOM!

A blur streaked past a split second before the car crashed into the spot where Alvard had been.

The car tumbled for a few meters before exploding into a shower of flames.
