His head turned, tearing the boy's head from the ground before flinging him behind.
PUUUCHIII!
The sound of a blade tearing through a stomach rang out as a red-hot claw pierced out Bernard's stomach.
But the pierce did not come from Everlearn, instead from behind.
Everlearn had placed him in the path of a stab coming from his other.
"How…"
Hubert muttered in shock as he withdrew his claw from Bernard's stomach. In the next instant, Everlearn swung his own claws to the side, hurling Bernard into the wall as a cloud of dust burst into the air.
Everlearn had sensed the steps behind him and heard the whooshing in the air, the clear sound of something reaching for him.
He had timed it and placed Bernard in the path having him stabbed instead.
Hubert seemed to have seen a ghost.
Looking at his fallen partner buried in the wall with a stab wound in his stomach, his eyes turned blood-red.
"DIIIIIIEEEEE!"
he roared out, cleaving recklessly toward Everlearn.
'Activate Apex Strike,'
Everlearn called out, dodging the frantic attack with robotic precision.
Seeing an opening, his claw shot out towards Hubert's neck.
BOOOOOOM!
The wall of the skyscraper cracked apart as Hubert's eyes widening feeling himsel slammed roughjly into the wall and he coughed out blood.
"Hehehe,"
Everlearn grinned evilly, a dark light staining his blue eyes, as his golden claws gleamed with pitch black light.
SLASH!
SLASH!
SLASH!
SLASH!
SLASH!
What followed was a splatter of blood as Everlearn's hand became a blur, claws slashing again and again while blood sprayed through the air.
BOOOOOM!
A sudden heavy slam from the side sent Everlearn flying off his feet, tumbling on the ground before he crashed into the wall.
He turned forward and noticed the Bernard already back on his feet.
As for the wound on his stomach, it was already half healed, green healing serum over its surface.
Bernard turned away from Everlearn, looking at his partner, and his breath caught in his throat.
All over Hubert's body were claw marks so deep his ribs could be seen.
Not only was the flesh on his torse been reduced to a mangled pieces, he had also been knocked out cold.
Bernard's hands reached out, picking him up and placing him over his shoulder, while his other hands brought out a circular object.
Everlearn burst out from the wall, flashing towards both, but he was only halfway there when Bernard crushed the object in his palm.
A ripple of blue appeared around his figure just as Everlearn's claws cleaved through him.
He landed on the ground and turned his head to see both of them still standing there, completely unharmed.
There was a change, their bodies surrounded by that blue halo wasn't physical anymore.
They looked more like spirit figures now, slowly beginning to fade away.
"We may have failed, but they'll never stop until you're dead!"
Bernard said with a cold harrumph as Everlearn raised an eyebrow at their fading form.
"Quite Interesting,"
He mused, dipping his hands into his pockets.
Bernard watched as he brought out a cubic object, resting it upon his palm before his hands clenched around it.
WHIIIRRR!
A mechanical whirring echoed out, and Nanotech quickly covered Everlearn's arms, forming into gauntlets around his hands.
His hands stretched forward toward both of them.
"Idiot. Nothing can touch—"
THRRRRRROOOM!
The air exploded into shockwaves as Everlearn's palm widened.
The resultant force made him take five steps backward.
The destructive pillar of photon energy slammed outward towards Bernard who made no intent to dodge at all.
The teleportation was already half-complete, and no attack could go through or stop it now.
Yet when the destructive rays of light blasted onto him, hus face changed in shock as he felt a force slam straight into him.
It pierced right through his stomach, blowing a gigantic hole that instantly erased his liver and kidney.
His eyes widened in shock as blood burst from his lips and he fell onto his back, with Hubert collapsing on top of him.
"It… it pierced through!"
Bernard, muttering in horror and disbelief.
STEP
STEP
STEP
The sound of footsteps reached him and he turned to find Everlearn now standing before him, a wide grin on his maw.
"Tell the 'They' that sent you that they can send a million of you if they want."
"You all will be taken down."
Those were the last words Bernard's heard before his eyes rolled to the back of his head.
The teleportation finally completed and both disappeared into thin air.
While the NanoPhoton blaster could reach Bernard, it couldn't fully cancel the teleportation, allowing them to escape still.
After their disappearance, Everlearn clenched his fist.
The Nano Photon Blaster retracted back into its cube form and was slipped back into his pocket.
His claws faded away back into hands as he deactivated his skills before turning his back and stepping out of the alleyway.

The water that rained upon him was white, but the one beneath him was red.
He remained silently still for a while, and after about three minutes, the water beneath him had also turned white, and Everlearn turned off the shower.
Grabbing a towel by the side, he headed out to his bedroom.
The attack that had come for him might have been impromptu, but Everlearn had an idea who the true figures responsible were.
He had not angered anyone or dealt with any power ever since he came into the academy.
The only person he think might have some problem with him was Vulcan, who he fought during the Ranking Challenges.
But to send assassins equipped with gadgets worth 200+ points when he had initially challenged him to gain about 70 points didn't make any sense.
The only thing left was the Cult infiltration from last night.
Only 2nd years held enough points and boldness to decide to kill a Newcomer and follow through.
He had thought his identity could never be discovered, as there were no cameras or anything of the sort.
But it was clear now that they had his face and were after his life.
"How annoying. I didn't even gain anything from infiltrating their base, and now I've got a target on my neck," Everlearn mused, annoyed.
But then he shrugged, especially when he saw the panel.
The system delivered quests based on real-life events, and assassination was one of them.
If they kept sending people to eliminate him, then in a way, they were just sending him level-up cards and EXP.
He wasn't complaining.
Except, he still felt slight fear, as he had no idea who they would send next time.
The fight this time had been easy, as both his opponents were Newcomers like him, relying solely on gadgets for support.
But if they sent 2nd years after him, equipped with gadgets like that, then maybe things would have turned out differently.
"Guess I gotta be careful from now on,"
