In a discreet corner, sitting comfortably on a blue-cushioned white chair, a woman in black observed Alexandra. She examined the way she was talking, the way she acted and how her expressions varied with each sentence she spoke out.
She must be the infamous Alexandra. Raven analyzed before sighing, her hand pressed against the form she had just received.
Her deep black eyes, hidden behind the black mask, observed the pamphlet. There wasn't much to read, much for Raven to care about. Hence, after giving it a less than 2 seconds glance, she neatly folded it and placed it in her purse.
"It's quite a show they have created," her partner, her elder sister, sitting beside her, spoke with a slight sigh. With a short delay in her sentence, she continued again," All this for just a game. I really don't understand where the world is going right now."
Raven, or currently in this party as Miss Black, looked at her sister before quietly turning back to observe the party.
Her thoughts on it?
It's boring. Not what I had expected from the outside world.
Everyone was pretending here, hiding their true colours. In a way, it was similar to where she had lived in the den, but at least there, she could choose to ignore all that and focus on training.
"Hey, Idiot! Just where do you think you are going?"
Breaking her concentration, her focus was called towards an irritating sound. At a distance, not too far from her, a confrontation was taking place. A man in dark red stood against a man in crimson.
"You are?" The man in crimson asked in a polite tone, his eyes seemingly analyzing the situation. He was calculating, perhaps even planning something.
"Damn! You really are an idiot! Don't you know that we aren't supposed to tell anyone that? Haha! Just where did she find someone like you?! Tell me. Are you really a boy toy of hers?" The man in dark red mocked, used words that didn't seem to suit the party, and created a spectacle that now everyone was looking at.
It confused Raven a bit. Since everyone was hiding their identities, it seemed redundant. This conversation would work only if people knew the crimson man's identity, but if even Raven, who had worked hard to remember everything about this situation, did not know about him, then it would be rare that others do as well.
He is either a nobody or someone so high that should not be messed with. But both ways… Raven paused her thoughts as she felt her sister's hand on her shoulders.
"The crimson kid came with Silva Rothrak, and that Dark Red one is Frig Lessler," Castellina spoke in a low murmur.
Now it makes sense. Raven gave a slight bow, understanding the situation immediately.
Frig was jealous of the guy who came with Silva Rothrak, most famous for doing out-of-place things. High chance she really did bring nobody with him just to fill space with her extra invitation.
So in that situation, the crimson-suit boy might-
"Boy toy? Are we sure we are not talking about your ex-girlfriend Erica?" The man in crimson spoke.
"Holy…" Castellina gasped.
So did Raven.
And everyone else who saw the situation.
It wasn't a well known story since the Lesslers buried it, but Frig's last girlfriend, Erica, was found to be cheating with a boy from her class. The rumours did say that he was a friend, but in reality, anyone who looked deeper into it could easily find that she was just playing with the boy, just as she was with Frig.
"What do you mean?" Frig tried denying it. His eyes shaken, he could not believe that the guy in front of him could know about his situation.
"Did you forget it already? 'Who told you to knock?!' 'You cannot satisfy anyone!' 'I have to fake my orgasms!' Are they enough or should I say more?" The crimson man spoke, acting out the words in a high-pitched voice.
There was complete silence throughout the entire hall. Everyone looked at Frig with pity. With mockery. Their eyes could see the changes in his expression as he wanted to ask, 'how do you know all this?' But he could not. That would be equal to confirming the man's words in front of the whole crowd.
"Who… are you?" Frig asked in frustration. His eyes genuinely wanted to know the man behind the mask. The man who knew the secrets behind deep hidden shame and scars.
The man in crimson smiled, a deep smirk on his face as he exclaimed,
"Damn! You really are an idiot! Don't you know that we aren't supposed to tell anyone that? Haha! Just where did she find someone like you?! Tell me. Are you really a boy toy of hers?"
The same sentence back to him. In ways that stung 100 times more.
A silence.
"Holy… fuck…". Castellina was genuinely impressed. So was Raven. And everyone else.
"That's enough, Mirage," a refined voice echoed in the hall. A woman in dark red, similar to Frig's, walked closer to the boy. She was older, somewhere in the mid-30s. Making a guess, she was Frig's mother, Gloria Lessler.
Carrying herself with dignity, something that seemed to be stripped away from her boy in the last few seconds, she reached Frig and then looked at the crimson-suited man.
"I am Miss Thorn. Pleasure to meet you," she bowed politely, to which the man in Crimson chuckled with a slight smirk before answering with an equally polite smile,
"Mister Anthony. The pleasure is all mine."
The name, even though fake, was etched into everyone's hearts right now. It wasn't something they were going to forget anytime soon.
"Hah! Anthony? Don't you know that you have to choose an object-mmph" Frig, who was losing his cool, spoke in irritation on whatever he could pick up. He could not handle the shame, and also the fact that he was being asked to stay quiet.
But his mother put her hand on his mouth, stopping him from speaking any further.
"I would have said pleasure to you too, but as you can't…" Mr. Anthony spoke again, a pitiful smile as he momentarily looked at Frig's private parts before showing a slight smirk.
"You! YOU BAS-"
-SLAP!!!
The enraged Frig was slapped to reality before his mother pushed his head down, to bow to Mr. Anthony. She was enraged too. But there was a time and place for everything. And this wasn't one.
"We apologise for the inconvenience. Please enjoy your evening," she said before forcing him out of the way as she dragged Frig away from there.
"Have a merry evening," Mr. Anothony answered, unbothered by the chaos he had just created.
"Miss Black," Castellina turned to Raven, her eyes giving her a warning signal, to which Raven nodded before answering,
"Don't worry. I will not get entangled with him."
Raven vowed to avoid this walking bomb, who was somehow carrying far more attention than even the host of the party, right now. She instead chose to keep quiet as she observed Mr. Anthony walking towards the host of this party, his slow steps echoing in the hushed hall.
