Lord Of Puppets

Chapter 59 – The dungeon that was gone.

[Current location: Golem dungeon]

(Hm…. The miasma flow is going great…But is it fast enough?) – thought Thauma.

(I guess these monsters are not good enough to provide a satisfying amount of miasma.)

(Still, even if they are not good, I've ordered every single one of golems to hunt.)

(Every single living being.)

(Be it animal or monster.)

(They all will be hunted down and then brought to the dungeon.)

(Not only that, new dungeon monsters had been already born.)

(The flow of miasma for now is acceptable, since soon it will sky rocket.)

"…"

(But…. Some of the puppets that came back…. They fought not against beast, but against people. The damage that they had sustained was made using weapons.)

(I guess these the forest is already involved in the war.)

(But so far not even a single soldier entered my field of vision.)

(Is this a good thing? Or a bad thing?)

"…"

(Either way, I must focus.)

(I still don't know yet how many enemies are out there, nor I know how well my golems are doing against the enemy.)

(All I can depend on is two things.)

(The number of missing golems as well as the damage they had sustained.)

(And amount of corpse that the-)

"!"

(Oh? By the looks of things, they brough something?) – thought Thauma as it noticed golems dragging in a corpse of the deer beastman and bear beast-human.

(They can take them down!)

(So that means that the soldiers that my golems had fought before had around the same strength as them?)

(But…. Hm… No. Too early to tell.)

(Maybe they were just caught off guard, just like Ariava told me had happened last time.)

(It is better if I wait and see.)

[4 days later.]

"…"

"Nothing?" – asked wolf beastman captain.

"Nothing sir." – replied cat beast-human.

"None of the golems seems to willingly walk out of the forest boundaries."

"They will chase us outside the forest only for the moment, before then giving up and going back."

"Saw it myself." – said the female cat beastman captain.

"These things maybe not alive, but they were definitely given clear instructions."

"They were either given command to not move too far away from single place."

"Or they were ordered to only work within forest borders."

"Honestly, I did gave a word to look for the golem making guy from the Marok kingdom."

"Apparently he is some old guy that is used to making cheap labor golems."

"But until then? We pretty much lack any expert when it comes to golems."

"…."

"…"

"What do you think?" – asked wolf beastman.

"Don't know really." – said the cat beastman.

"They are there, but they are not leaving the forest."

"As long as you don't go anywhere near it, you are safe."

"Yea, but why?" – asked the wolf beastman.

"These things are not living beings."

"They don't need to eat, sleep or anything really."

"They can just work nonstop."

"So why are they just guarding the forest?"

"Not only that, we still have no idea why are they doing this that way."

"Isn't it obvious?" – asked the cat beastman.

"The dungeon from the reports that was believed to be destroyed must be the place where these golems are produced."

"Yes…. That would make sense." – said the wolf beastman.

"But what doesn't make sense is why the hell there were no golem monsters in that forest before!"

"I've been right next to that forest for long time! I've even had my men go there and gather some food."

"And there was nothing."

"No reaction what so ever."

"The explanation would be that the dungeon was somewhat in a dormant state?"

"But why was the dungeon in that state in the first place?"

"The golems only activated the moment these bandits entered the cave that is presumable the dungeon…."

"Honestly, there is way too many questions regarding this whole matter that cannot be answer without us getting to that cave….. And there is also the problem IF this place is dungeon."

"We can't destroy it."

"Eh? Why not?" – asked the cat beastman as the wolf approached the table and picked up a blade taken from the blade puppet.

"This." – said the wolf while holding the blade.

"This is iron."

"An iron weapon."

"This dungeon…. It is producing both iron and weapons!"

"Not only that, but look at this!" – said wolf as he picked up a crystal like stone.

"Dungeon crystal."

"They are inside every single one of these bastards."

[Dungeon Crystal]

[Also known as [Mana Crystal].]

[These crystals are physical manifestation of the energy that the dungeon monster posses AND it is special resource that ONLY dungeons can generate.]

[Sometimes beings such as elementals or ghost would end up often leaving this as their drop item.]

"Huh… So, then this confirms that place being dungeon." – said the cat beastman.

"But why were these things inside the monsters?"

"Don't know…. Maybe they are like a power source or something? They do need something to move…. Although, undeads don't have the same problem….. Hm… Anyway" – said wolf.

"According to the old reports, the main reason why that dungeon wasn't destroyed was because of the fact that you could harvest these things out of the dungeon."

"…."

"But now... Shit…. This is way too problematic."

"?"

"What do you mean?" – asked confused cat.

"Don't you see!?" – asked worried wolf.

"EVERYSINGLE PART OF THIS THING BODY IS WORTH SOMETHING!"

"Hell! Look at those blades!"

"I maybe not a blacksmith, but I can bloody tell a good blade apart."

"And this blade?"

"It is not molded blade."

"It is 100% forged."

"Those blades are far better than our regular mass produced iron swords that were molded."

"Really?" – asked the cat girl as she picked up one of the blades and started inspecting it.

"Yea. And this isn't all." – said the wolf as he picked up the hammer fist of the hammer golem as well as crossbow from the crossbow golem.

"This thing as well is properly made and even this crossbow here."

"If the entire body of the golems are treasure like these….. Then there is only one way to describe that dungeon."

"A gold mine."

"Or maybe something better."

"Huh…. Well, to bad it has a killer golems out there, just wondering around." – said cat.

"And we still don't bloody know what they are really doing. Are they just defending or doing something else?"

"Honestly, I would like to order the extermination of every single one of these golems, but the problem is that they are far more dangerous that we initially thought… We even had some loses on our side as well because of that."

"There is also way too many questions going on and the fact that this place is gold mine."

"So yea…. Right now, we play it safe until we get a reinforcement."

"But there is something also worrying about this."

"In the reports I've had gotten from the ex-lord office it stated how the past incident with golems unfolded."

"These golems went on the total rampage, killing every single thing they found within the forest, be it a person, animal or monster."

"A dungeon break." – said cat.

"Yea…. But this one is weird." – said wolf.

"According to the reports, the golems in fact DID attacked the Rabbit town."

"They operated outside the forest."

"But now? They are not doing that."

*sigh*

"I'm just getting more and more annoying fucking questions and no bloody answers... Just great."

Golem dungeon that was thought to be exterminated had been revealed that it was NOT destroyed and instead it entered something like dormant state.

However now?

The dungeon has been reawaken, causing a flood of golem monsters to leave the dungeon and occupy the forest.

Exactly the same way it did in the past during the previous dungeon break incident that involved the golem dungeon.

However, this time the threat level was considered much higher.

The golems that had escaped from the dungeon were straight up not even remotely close to the ones that went on the rampage before.

Not only their appearance, but their strength was nothing alike.

Soldiers of the Garmfon kingdom who tried initially investigate the forest were not only repelled, but they also sustained some loses, resulting in the situation being consider as higher level threat.

However, there was a problem and a quiet major one at that.

Drops.

Every single one of the golem parts possess some value.

Especially forged weapons that each and every golem out that had in their possession.

Like the wolf captain said – Gold mine.

The value of that place cannot be easily measured.

Not only that, there was quiet few unanswered questions as well, making things even more problematic and complicated for the Garmfon kingdom.

That place was both a threat AND it could be a source of fortune.

And as the day would pass by, somebody had received a reports about the situation.

"Iron… Forged weapons…. And on top of it all, mana crystals?" – asked the man holding the documents.

"Is everything said on these documents true, soldier?"

"Yes." – replied beast-human.

"A request for the reinforcements has been sent as well to either sent soldiers or request adventurer guild help."

"What shall we reply with?"

"…"

"Heh….. Soldiers." – said the man holding the documents.

"And you know what? I'm going there myself."

"?"

"You sure about this general?" – asked beast-human.

"Of fucking course I'm." – said the man with documents.

"I'm nearby anyway, so I may as well take a look at the situation and see if this is what I think it is."
