"Don't eat too much, you rascal!!"
The morning the next day, right outside the cottage, Enzo heard his mother bark at his younger ones inside. The night before had been the most fulfilling he had experienced in days.
A good night of sleep had suddenly become something very scarce in Enzo's life. It was always one thing or another these days.
"Hehe." Enzo laughed bitterly as his gaze fell back to the snow, thoughts flashing through his mind as a memory replayed in his head.
That bloody mess he had seen at home—his brothers crying and the open maw of his father as blood seeped through the corner of his mouth.
There was no welcome-back gift worse than this—watching his father's lifeless body sprawled in front of him—and now he was forced to leave his home for these strange lands because he took revenge.
Humiliating. Utterly humiliating.
But it was also an eye-opener. If he truly wanted freedom, he needed an attribute of the free—and that was strength. The strength to not run away, the strength to keep his family safe.
"Are you good, kid?"
Breaking his state of immersion, a man in all white appeared before him with a concerned look on his face. It was extremely difficult to sneak up on a Starweaver like that...
Especially an assassin class like Enzo. Whatever he was thinking about must have been serious.
"Ahhh." Enzo's gaze blurred for a second before the figure of Mr. White diffused from the snow background and appeared clearly in front of him.
"It's nothing." Enzo smiled, then stood up to bow to Mr. White. He had been waiting for him since the sun rose. Mr. White was a busy man; it was best not to delay him.
"Hmmm, if you say so." Mr. White shrugged his shoulders and strutted to the side of the cottage, where he dragged out a motorcycle wrapped in a blanket covered in snow.
He slowly pulled off the blanket, then kicked off some bits of snow, revealing a white motorcycle.
'White… everything's white with this guy.'
Enzo couldn't help but comment in his mind as he strapped the Void Coffin to his back and walked over.
–vroom!!
The motorcycle soon roared in front of the cottage as Enzo and Mr. White zoomed out of the yard and onto the snow road.
The settlement here was called "Twin Crescent." It was the living area for those under or related to those in the Dual Moon Institute. It was a much more vibrant place than Fort Marie despite its considerably smaller population.
They had working water systems, an efficient transport system, and housing that looked warm and cozy in this chilling weather.
As Enzo passed through the streets of the settlement behind Mr. White, he couldn't help but muse.
Such a place…He hadn't known such a place existed on Earth. All he had known his entire life was ruin, poverty, and struggle. It was what created this urge to leave the planet behind.
Maybe if he had grown up somewhere like this, he would have other thoughts… maybe.
"Good morning, Sage White." At the gate, a young soldier with a plasma gun rushed forward to open up the gates at the sight of Mr. White.
"Hmm." Enzo smiled coyly as they were allowed inside, but his mind was fixated on the structure in front of him.
At the very depth of the settlement, three towering spires could be seen, each of them carrying a particular phase of the moon.
Right now, they were in the one right in the middle—the full moon.
"Welcome to the Dual Moon Institute."
A sign read, shining with red neon lights on the side straight into Enzo's eyes.
They were finally here—
In the Dual Moon Institute.
"You can head inside, let me park my bike." At the front of the spire building, Mr. White dropped Enzo off before proceeding to the corner of the building—to what he presumed to be a parking lot.
The institute was cold, but not as much as everywhere else. There seemed to be several heating vents strategically placed all over the place, and a barely visible force field around the spires.
–beep
The door to the ground floor of the building opened up when Enzo approached. He entered and was met with a large, busy lobby.
To his left, a bunch of young ladies in uniform logged several documents across the hall, and to his right, several younger men and women filled out forms.
"Admission in progress."
A sign read on the right, where a bunch of red chairs were placed as a sort of reception.
'Impressive.'
Enzo thought in his mind, feeling out of place. He had never been in such a fancy place before. He looked like a fish out of water, a very awkward fish, in fact.
"Go over there and pick up a form. You'll be processed in no time."
Suddenly, a voice resounded behind him as Mr. White appeared and nudged him toward the young men at the reception.
He currently had on some of Mr. White's old clothes—not so white, of course. It was a winter coat and pants to match. But compared to these silk-wearing young men and women, he was indeed out of place.
However, he steeled himself eventually and picked up an application form before sitting down on one of the sofas.
"What's cooking, good-looking?" Back at the door, right beside Mr. White, a young woman with crooked teeth smiled at him with what could only be viewed as a lecherous smile.
It felt like she wanted to grab him up and eat him whole.
"Don't start with me, Zenon. I'm not particularly in the mood." Mr. White snapped back as he looked to the side at the glass window the lady was behind.
There, he zoned out for a couple of minutes , reading about recent activity in the region. Mr. White had actually been gone for several months. He was really out of touch with the activities happening.
"Hmm, they took back Whuani, huh? They're fast," he commented, looking through an article on the glass monitor. There was so much going on.
But before he could dive deeper, he heard an exclamation that caused him to frown.
"You have a Great Star?!!"
