Steve, Tyler, Talia and Kurt walked into the warehouse that Layla had set the gate up in the night before. He had met the staff earlier with Carl before, so they knew who could do what.
In view of the gate, the two men gasped.
"It's much smaller than I expected," said Talia. "And you seem to have a goblin problem Kurt."
"No, that's just Joshua," said Kurt.
"So you two," said Kurt pointing at Steve and Tyler. Will have to do a secrecy oath, and we have a place we can set up for you. Joshua will explain everything."
"What do you mean he'll explain?" Said Talia.
"Don't worry Countess Talia," said Layla, "it's nothing bad, a few moments and we can translate the language for everyone."
Joshua preferred the spelled exactly as Kurt had always seen it, a kiss was blown, smoke puffed from the bag and, "is that better everyone?" and a mumbling of yes, and amazement.
"Lady Talia, you can come this way, you're not getting paid by us for this, and this is a clan negotiation, so secrecy wouldn't be expected," said Layla. After the translation spell there was the sworn to secrecy ritual, he told Hank, Tom and Joe to show them to a few rooms they could pick out for now, and had a payment.
Talia was still close to Kurt with the goblins around, and the sights to see. "You never said anything about an army of goblins Kurt."
"Never came up." She looked at him with a confused stare.
"But wow, you have a whole little settlement, where is the water coming from? It's like a story book." she said gazing at the pillar they were entering.
"My place has the best view right at top," said Kurt.
They had made their way to the throne room but Layla had decided to not take the throne and stay with Kurt and Talia, "This should be fine, are you ready?"
"Yes, I guess," said Talia. And Layla snapped her fingers and a taller looking man appeared, floating, guess they make male Fae as well.
"Justin, how?"
"I'm sort of asking myself that question as well, where are we, yet I somehow feel I'm free to return, very strange," said the male Fae, Justin.
"But," Talia turned towards Layla, "I a…"
"Is this a Fae well, no that's not possible, this structure it's so…fascinating." Finally turning towards Layla, "and you are?"
"I'm Princess Layla of the Fae."
"Princess of the Fae? The fae have no royalty, but…" he looked around, "if there was anyone, I'd imagine their well might indeed look something like this. Is there a reason I'm here? Your majesty."
"To bear witness."
"Witness to what?
"The Valentine Clan."
"And what crimes are my clan accused of?" said Justin.
"Hmm, none exactly, have you heard of the Fire clan?" said Layla.
"Yes, their methods are, if the rumors are true, quite criminal, so what does that have to do with me? I am not part of the Fire clan."
"Simple, a few questions, first has the Valentine Clan ever forced a Fae to plant there well against their will?"
"No," Justin made an immediate angry stare, "I wouldn't allow that, it would be a terrible thing to do, we have a young Fae actually,," and Justin 's face relaxed, with a warm smile, "she will grow normally as far as I can tell, but she seems restless and about to leave, she might stay close you never know with these things."
"Really, and you don't think they will force her to their will."
"No."
"And you choose the humans as your champions of your own free will?"
"Yes, I imagine for the same reason you chose yours, because of their potent effects on their species, in other words they make some of the strongest guardians, why wouldn't I want that? No, it's simpler isn't it, you just don't trust the humans. Hmmm,," Justin paused and put his hand to his chin, " I can't say I exactly blame you for that. But I would say the Valentine Clan is free of any crimes against our kind if that's what you are implying, that would be my witness."
"Unexpected, I guess that means we could be allies," Layla turned to Talia.
"See I told you we weren't like them," said Talia.
"Now, stop," said Justin, "having heard what she has said I can't say I wouldn't have done much differently. I would want to hear it out of the Fae's mouth myself as well. And bringing me here, as I do feel I can leave at any time. And it's not like the other clans are free of any of their crimes in my mind, I would see our clan as an enemy from the outside."
"Well, thank you," said Layla, "and I'm sorry for interrupting your day, you can of course stay for a while if you wish."
"So there is a fourth gate," said Justin, "one we didn't know of before? I can't even see them, so I don't know much about the subject but their effects are clear."
"Not only that, I met Layla on our side, Justin." said Talia.
"What? That's impossible—how?"
"She apparently made her gate, I can tell you it also moves."
"I'm not following," said Justin.
"I'm fairly convinced it's true," Talia said, " I walked right through it, no way it was always where it was, it's also tiny compared to what we have. and you know, snapped her fingers and here you are."
"Well, if you're done being so fascinated," said Layla. "I assure you what she says is true. I do not know how your gate was made though."
"Well, it was the True Sorcerer," said Justin.
"The True Sorcerer?"
"That's what he called himself the first time, never saw him again really, can't be much help if you're looking for him, but it was definitely some kind of human. His aura was strange though, not like yours, but still very strange. I haven't seen anything like it still to this day, not that I've seen anything like this well before. You must have a knack for space abilities to get me here. I've heard of that before, unfortunately our side doesn't have any that can do it. I assumed he just left the way he came, I had no idea the gate was still there until later."
"And you believe the Valentine clan and the fae can live in harmony?" Said Layla.
"We already are as far as I'm concerned, we have our struggles but nothing that any intelligent beings deal with. So this is a diplomatic mission. Talia?"
"Yes, I would say that," said Talia.
"And are you satisfied with my answers?" Justin said, turning towards Layla.
"I am."
"Then I assure you, your majesty, that Lady Talia, and Lord Fredrick who isn't here I see—," said Fredrick, looking at Talia.
"He's fine, nothing to worry about, I'm the guest of Lord Kurt," said Talia, moving her hand towards Kurt.
"I see, very good, then, as I was saying, I assure you Princess Layla, that they can speak for the humans as well as the fae of the clan. We are not being mistreated, and we do appreciate the concern. But I do prefer my life in my well, so is there anything further, or am I to witness something else today?"
"No, you may leave, if that is your desire, you always could have."
"Then farewell, if you need my advice again your majesty, don't hesitate to ask," and Justin bowed . "I think I can give a signal back maybe, so it's not so sudden, if there is a next time. I was in the middle of talking to someone, I'm sure they were very confused, I would like to avoid that in the future."
Layla smiled, "like this?"
Justin tilted his head, "yes I think something lik that would work" bowing again, "your majesty."And Justin slipped back into his well.
