Kurt needed basically everything he had, to be three times its size. There were a lot of places, but Kurt knew what he needed, so it was obvious which stores wouldn't fulfill his needs. The main thing is he needed glassware, and several stills, or one big one. And several large mixing bowls. Motar and Pestal. There was a lot. The more they kept thinking the bigger the list would get. And he hadn't even actually started on the final container to sell in.
Kurt was excited about the process, and having everything new and working. He was never used to being the person that had everything, made a part here and something really old. But of course now he could afford any and everything, and he had no rent. And income coming in more by the day really. Traveling wasn't all that bad really when you have a home you can portal right back to.
He had money, and not just money, a credit from Carl, get receipts and it would be the investment from him. Carl was actually making out a lot, the warehouse structure he was filling up and taking down, it had to have saved so much man power on so many levels.
But for this he could credit it something, and get back the money as long as it was produced. Carl had tested it and apparently everyone told him, they need more of it, that the testing seemed immoral because it worked so well to not make use. If you see a serious wound heal in front of you, and the placebo does nothing…you can't keep testing.
Medicine could actually change really. But Kurt needed just more of everything he was using. It was great because it was common for things to be delivered by cart to the hotels, so Kurt didn't have to carry much, there was a fee he could easily afford.
Fabulous wealth planning is going strong. He found most of the mixing bowls and small ware, and a glass workshop he felt had some quality for a big order. There was more to get though.
Having felt good for the day Kurt had come back to the hotel, he found it the first time this time, and didn't have anyone try to rob him. He had to get Layla, and Sara for dinner.
Kurt was looking forward to it, he knew the next year Carl wouldn't be there so he wouldn't make the show, and knew Carl loved the food anyway, and what the point of being rich if not with good people?
Things seemed to be working out. Which continued to worry Kurt. Things never lasted like that. Layla was right, things are just easy now. While the secret is small, the only person that can really keep a secret is a dead man. Especially if he was going to be selling this. But enjoy it while you can right? Nothing really bad has happened yet really, after a couple of wild animals things were going as smoothly as anyone could hope for.
He had made a few trips back to his workshop at home, there was a lot coming in. There were some goblins he grabbed, some of the shamans that he'd been working with. They had demands too, mostly alcohol, and some metals and fabrics. They seemed to like rum a lot, but any alcohol was good alcohol they would all say. He had gotten some wine for Susan and Sara as well, Kurt was more of a beer person, if he drank which wasn't very often.
There was actually so much to buy, as he had stuff for the blacksmith goblin, which was now two of them from the brood, that needed a big hammer and another anvil. And various other tools. He had a whole workshop to set up and get ready.
He had thought it would be easy, but he had a bigger list for the next day. And that was probably going to be on him, because most of them were gathering and helping do the whole thing. Stupid, capitalism.
But he couldn't really do anything about that tonight. He had to get ready for the dinner with Carl, he knew he had to be nice in the city, the place was going to Fancy, with a capital F. High class, on a tower. But Carl did like to surprise them sometimes, he knew a hole in the wall in one town, that made the best burgers, that was just old town heaven.
He had taken a bath, gotten into his cloak, but in a nice suit, one he hadn't worn before, Black, with gold trim and a red sash. A little over done. He liked that the cloak would cover his whole body, which highlighted it when he wanted to show off, and turned it off if he wanted to go in the background.
Sara had taken to a little black dress, her hair brown little, always a classic in Kurt's mind, and Layla's red hair still long and fiery but had her Ornate dress, that didn't clash, with too much fluff in Kurt's opinion, it did look a little more formal and royal.
Carl had come with a carriage to take them.
"This will be a meal you never forget," Carl told them.
"I hope so, never ate the same as the king before," said Kurt.
"Well it got to be good," said Carl, "the inner city is where all the best people want to work, high class stuff, you know, people like you."
Kurt was amused by the comment, I guess so now. A man really could get used to nice dinners, beautiful people and making a lot of money.
They slowly took the ride to the inner part of the Keep, to where the best places would be. It made them seem above everyone, maybe they were now. Kurt stared out the window of the carriage, and thought I could be just one of them.
