The next day came about very quickly for Tyler. As usual, he woke up early in the morning and started with his workout routine. When he was done, he reported to the Monaco Performance Center. Adi Hutter called a team recovery session, and after that Tyler planned to do some individual work.
While he was walking, he saw quite a few cars belonging to his teammates pass him by. Normally, he wouldn't have cared, but for some reason seeing his teammates arriving for training in style while he had to work in the scorching hot sun made him feel sour.
'Man, I can't wait until I turn eighteen so I can get my drivers license'. Tyler thought as he presented his identification to the security at the gate and was granted access into the training session.
As soon as he entered the locker room, he saw everyone changing into their training shorts. Tyler did the same, and a few minutes later, they were lead by a club staff into an unfamiliar room in the training center.
It was as large as a stadium, with different standard sized swimming pool placed side by side to each other. The players were arranged in random groups and asked to report to the swimming pool that they were assigned to.
Luckily for Tyler, he was placed in the same group as George so he wouldn't be bored during whatever was about to happen.
"What's going on?" Tyler whispered to George as they sat down at the edge of the pool and stuck their legs into it.
"Hydrotherapy". George said as he got into a relaxed position. "Helps the muscle recover faster".
They remained in the room for the next thirty minutes, before going into another room that Tyler hadn't been in before for a fitness checking session. After the fitness checking session, the players received their training reports and then they left the training session.
Tyler on the other hand, stayed behind and went to talk to one of the assistant coaches.
"Coach Adrien". Tyler said as he approached the coach, with Tiago and George flanking him. He told them of his intention to do extra training and they decided to let themselves be influenced by him.
Adrien turned around and stared at the trio that were in front of him. He was tall, even when compared to some of the footballers in the squad. He raised his eyebrows, as if asking the three youngsters in front of him what they wanted.
"We were wondering if you could help us with a bit of extra training". Tyler said.
Adrien chuckled. "Extra work? You three are already tired. Recovery days are for recovery. It's in the name".
"I know". Tyler replied quickly. "But I feel like I still have a lot of work to do if I want to catch up with the older players in the team".
Adrian opened his mouth like he was going to say something, then he sighed. "And you managed to drag these two as well?"
"He begged me not to leave him alone". George said, which was followed by a low smacking sound caused by Tiago hitting him on the head.
"I wasn't going to let him get ahead of me. If he's doing extra work, I'll be there too".
Adrian sighed again, then led the trio out to one of the side pitches that was empty at that time of the day. The sun was shining at the peak of its prowess, illuminating the grass, and the four figures under it.
"Alright", Adrien said. "We'll keep this simple and focused. Dribbling, manipulating the ball in tight spaces, and then finishing. If you want to get ahead, you need to actually work on focused areas instead of running around like a headless chicken until you collapse".
The beginning of the warm-up drills were quite simple. Adrien placed training cones across the pitch and the trio moved through them with the ball in their feet, with Adrian yelling at them to increase their pace when they reached specific points. After the first few repetitions, Tyler felt like his legs were on fire. He managed to push through it though, what he was currently feeling was nothing compared to what he had to endure when he started the system's daily routine.
"I am finished!" George shouted as he collapsed on the floor, breathing heavily.
"Oi! Cunt! Up!" Adrien shouted as he walked over aggressively to where George was and dragged him up.
"You took out of the time I was supposed to have to myself to drag me out here and you want to rest?!" Adrien shouted into George's ear.
At that moment, George was beginning to regret giving into peer pressure and wished that he was at home with his mom and dad.
After they finished with the dribbling drills, they practiced moving the ball in tight spaces. Adrien moved a bunch of training dummies to form an enclosement and had them move the ball around the dummies without the ball touching it. Every single time the ball touched it, Adrien had whoever was responsible drop and do ten pushups on the spot.
When they finished with that drill, they started their finishing drills. Adrian recreated various match scenarios with them and had them put the ball into the back of the net.
While Tyler was practicing his finishing, he also focused on some other things, like his body angle while receiving the ball, and also his shooting technique. He didn't want to just hit the ball and pray it landed where he targeted, he wanted to have a technique or a shooting style that made his shots lethal and deadly accurate.
Thirty minutes later, the three teenagers lay on the grass, sweating and exhausted while Adrien stared at them with a smile on his face. A few seconds later, he walked away leaving just the three boys and their heavy breathing out on the pitch.
