Divination by numbers ultimately leads to only one hexagram layout, and it also requires combining actual information with the patterns of the trigrams to analyze further. Therefore, the more information you know, the clearer the results of the analysis.
Shi Feiyang had a clear understanding of characters and events he already knew about or that were mentioned in the original story, but for those he was completely unfamiliar with, he could only deduce an abstract and vague general idea.
For instance, Jiang Shu, although honored as one of the "Seven True Masters" and the future Sect Leader of the Qingcheng Sect, and later, the nominal Head Instructor of the Nineteen Heroes of Qingcheng, he barely appeared in the original work, only existing in the words of others.
Therefore, Shi Feiyang's divination regarding his affairs was also quite vague and unclear, and he had to ask him for specific details.
Jiang Shu had sealed his own memories due to the flaws in his character, which did not reach perfection, necessitating his reincarnation and re-cultivation. Otherwise, he would have been unable to personally experience the various growths that a human truly goes through from the starting point of life, much like Elder Kuzhu could not, and this would give rise to all sorts of troubles. Not only would it be of no help to his own cultivation, but it would also create many unnecessary karmic ties out of nowhere.
Hence, he now truly possessed the youthful mentality. In his own eyes, he had admired the Immortal Path since childhood, fond of the tranquil and divine life of an Immortal, and possessed a spirit of chivalry and fairness.
Fate really had not been thin with him. He found the cave of an ancient Sword Immortal, acquired Daoist books and a Flying Sword, and refined Daoist Techniques. Just at the peak of his youth, full of ambition and satisfaction.
This time, in trying to save others, although he faced setbacks, he encountered a young Sword Immortal like Shi Feiyang, who was of a similar age and also enjoyed upholding justice by siding with the weak. Furthermore, with powerful mana, he himself was just bewitched by a Magic, fell unconscious for a moment, and upon regaining consciousness, found that the two Demon Path fiends had been eliminated.
In his heart, he viewed Shi Feiyang not only as a benefactor but also really wanted to befriend him, and he already had ideas of going out to slay demons and vanquish evil, standing shoulder to shoulder, sweeping through the world with their swords to purge its malevolent influences.
Thus, Shi Feiyang would say whatever he asked, being completely open about his own past. Even without Shi Feiyang's prompting, he would take the initiative to speak, narrating how he had slain Snake Demons with his sword in the past, how he rescued several children from a mountain flood, and his encounters with Demon Humans from Evil Sects, how he was unable to defeat them but surreptitiously snuck into their cave, and when they were cultivating, he used the Taiyin Divine Thunder to strike them dead.
Shi Feiyang had not expected that this future Sect Leader of the Qingcheng would be such a chatterbox, so lively and full of vigor, reminding him unexpectedly of his own school days.
He had been somewhat reclusive since childhood, preferring tranquility over activity, and spent his free time learning and calculating divinations, with few friends.
After transmigrating to this world and starting his Immortal Cultivation, he delved even further into a life of tranquility and inaction, often secluding himself for many years at a time, his Immortal Energy growing stronger while his Human connections grew weaker.
Now, viewing the energetic Jiang Shu, he suddenly felt a warning: Daoist and Buddhist practices differ; Buddhists seek to achieve a state of non-existence, viewing the body as a mere shell and consciousness as an illusion, aiming to realize the 'no-self', to escape the Six Paths of Reincarnation and to avoid the suffering of life and death completely. From a human perspective, this is equivalent to death, utterly thorough death, never to be reborn in the world again.
In essence, what Daoists cultivate is a breath of life, a force emerging from non-existence, born from the cosmic void, the primal breath of life itself. The Innate Pure Yang Qi is the most fundamental breath of life!
Yet, when people cultivate towards Immortality, they tend to focus on becoming like withered wood or stone, seeking stillness, increasingly lacking vitality, and consequently, the aura of death grows stronger...
The depth of one's virtue should be comparable to that of an innocent child.
The liveliness and vitality of a child are the most abundant.
Cultivation should go against the grain of life, moving back to the beginning, growing more vital with progress, and should not follow life's trajectory towards its end, growing older and closer to death.
Shi Feiyang had previously calculated the trajectory and weaknesses of Elder Kuzhu's Cultivation, and was aware of his flaws, but had not truly deeply comprehended them. Today, after meeting Jiang Shu, reincarnated, and looking back in comparison to Elder Kuzhu, the gap was immediately apparent!
He remembered a scripture called "Ancient Naive Theory" which spoke of indifference and formlessness, where True Qi followed, with few personal desires. It suggested two paths: one leading to the decay and death of withered wood and stone, and the other to the innocence and liveliness of a child.
It seems I must also adjust my own path, add more vitality to myself, so that in the future, I can harness the Innate Qi to refine my spirit and harmonize with the Dao!
Jiang Shu collected his Flying Sword and carefully searched the temple, killing all twelve of Bi Xi's and Feng Wu's disciples in total, then set the entire Daoist Temple ablaze before returning to find Shi Feiyang: "Brother Feiyang, how did you get in here? I wandered around for a long time and couldn't find the exit."
Shi Feiyang smiled and said, "Come, I will take you out!"
He led Jiang Shu through twists and turns, and in a short while, the expanse opened up before their eyes, showing the outside scene of water and locust trees. Looking back, the Daoist Temple, raging with fire, had disappeared.
Jiang Shu marveled, "Such a crafty trick by the Demon Path! But Brother Feiyang, your skill is even greater! To enter and leave so easily, all their elaborate arrangements became mere decorations."
Afterward, he invited Shi Feiyang to visit his cave.
At that moment, Shi Feiyang sensed someone spying on them from the shadows again, this time from the southwest. He frowned and looked into the distance, and the sensation vanished, and he silently deduced in his mind.
Seeing that his serious expression did not accept his invitation, Jiang Shu said regretfully, "Brother Feiyang, do you have urgent matters to attend to? Although my power is lackluster, I could still help if you don't mind. No matter what it is, even through sword mountains or seas of flames, I am willing to go!"
Shi Feiyang explained to him, "I sense someone observing us from afar."
"Oh? And who might that be? Where are they?"
"The person was very cautious. As soon as I detected them, they already left. This person's Dao Level is very high. I had this feeling earlier inside the Shuanghuai Temple. Do you know what this means? They were able to peer through the temple's array from at least a thousand miles away and see what was happening inside!"
Jiang Shu inhaled sharply, "Could it be that Old Demon Yideng you mentioned before?"
"It doesn't seem like it," Shi Feiyang shook his head. "I divined earlier and it appears that the person is closely related to you, likely an elder from your sect. But... forget it, you don't remember anything from your past life."
Shi Feiyang thought carefully – it was normal for a disciple of the Orthodox Sect who had undergone transmigration to have elders secretly protecting them, but everyone from the Tian Dou Ming He had already ascended. He couldn't recall having any other brothers or sisters.
The only possibility was the dwarfish Zhu Mei, but setting aside whether that shorty possessed such formidable effort, even if he did, he would be undergoing transmigration trials and would not be able to secretly protect Jiang Shu.
Unable to figure it out, Shi Feiyang had to let it go, "You mentioned earlier that you wanted to invite me to visit your cave? If you're sincere, then I'll risk the embarrassment and impose on you for a bit."
Jiang Shu was overjoyed to hear this, "That would be great!"
He no longer cared about who was secretly watching. In the Daoist books he obtained from the Divine Sound Cave was a "Breaking Demon Chapter" that began with the words "Treat the supernatural as natural, and the supernatural will defeat itself." If the person had no ill-intentions, they would get bored after watching a few more times. If they did have ill-intentions, the moment they actually came, he would just have to greet them with a Flying Sword and Divine Thunder.
But Shi Feiyang's willingness to visit his cave filled him with immense joy.
When the two arrived at the Divine Sound Cave in Fujian's Jiufeng Mountain, Jiang Shu had cleaned the cave thoroughly – the stone tables and chairs were spotless.
He invited Shi Feiyang to take a seat and went to the back of the cave to fetch a complete set of tea-making equipment. He boiled spring water and brewed tea for Shi Feiyang to drink.
The mountains of Fujian were ideal for growing tea. Jiang Shu loved tea and had collected six kinds of fine teas. He brought them all out like prized treasures, brewing each one and offering them to Shi Feiyang to taste.
Shi Feiyang was not particularly fond of tea and had never specifically collected any, but he had plenty of Spiritual Medicines and Immortal Herbs. He had truly eaten and seen them all. Not to mention Jiang Shu in his transmigrated state, even the past life's Demon Suppression True Master might not match Shi Feiyang's experiences and knowledge.
However, this tea, in addition to its inherent aroma, also had a unique natural essence of the mountains and fields. The ethereal mist of the tea and the rippling liquid danced with lively and joyful vitality.
"Great tea! Truly great tea!" He praised each cup as he tasted it, but it wasn't mere flattery. With each cup, he could point out something distinctive; though he wasn't an expert in tea appraisal, he spoke of the ambiance. He consistently hit the mark with Jiang Shu, resonating with his taste, straight to his heart.
Jiang Shu was thrilled and gave a thumbs-up, "Brother, you truly have a discerning taste!"
Seeing a Sword Immortal from the Emei Sect, so closely linked with the Orthodox Sect, treating him this way, Shi Feiyang felt a fleeting sense of disbelief. He ventured to ask Jiang Shu, "Did you find the Daoist books in this cave when you were a child? May I take a look at them?"
"Right here in this cave! One moment, brother," said Jiang Shu as he quickly headed to the back of the cave and promptly returned with an ancient-looking wooden box. He took out two Daoist books, "Here, brother, please take a look!"
"You trust me so freely with your Daoist books?"
"Ah? Why wouldn't I be at ease?" Jiang Shu was taken aback, but then he laughed, "Your Mana exceeds mine by a hundredfold! Besides, considering your character and conduct, should I fear you secretly learning from them? If you really wanted to learn them, it would be an honor for me. Feel free to look; you have my permission, so it's not considered stealing!"
Shi Feiyang chuckled ruefully as he took the Daoist books to examine, "You haven't managed to practice many of the cultivation methods recorded here, have you?"
"That's right! This first volume talks about Cultivation Techniques, which I should practice in sequence. I've only just reached Core Formation, and my mastery is still immature. I need to repeatedly refine and temper it. This second volume discusses various spells. Most of them come naturally to me as if I was born with them. However, some are too advanced, I can't even understand or practice them. It must be because my power isn't there yet."
Shi Feiyang quickly skimmed through the first volume, gaining an overall understanding of the cultivation progressions as imparted by Tian Dou Ming He, then picked up the second volume to see the various spells.
Taiyin Divine Thunder!
Shi Feiyang had seen Shen Tuhong and Zhuge Jingwo use it before. Although he wasn't skilled in Thunder Skills, he marveled at the power of the Mysterious Sect's Thunder Skill.
In the original work, Zen Master Xiao Yue offered ten years of his life and sacrificed his old body to arrange the Twelve Supreme Heaven Divine Slaughter Formation, only to have it scattered and broken by a single Taiyin Divine Thunder from an Ascetic Monk.
Even the Kongtong Sect, with a group of people, set up the Nine Heavens Seal Formation, which was shattered by Li Jingxu with a single Taiyin Divine Thunder.
This skill was not of low proficiency; once mastered, it was effective for exorcising demons and chastising evil, a bane for all kinds of Evil Techniques. Moreover, as one's effort increased, so too did the power of the cast Divine Thunder, virtually without limit!
Its full name was Qiantian Taiyin Divine Thunder, born from the Qian Trigram, fulfilled through the Zhen Trigram, with simultaneous movement from the Dui Trigram. Qian Metal combined with Dui Metal, merged with the Jia Yi Wood of the Zhen Palace – indeed a top Thunder Skill from Shu Mountain.
