Red Snake emerged from the water to seek help on the mountain and made his way to the cave entrance of Shi Sheng and Lin Han, just to witness Lin Han flying down from the mountain with a small Ding in his hand. Red Snake hurried to convey his intention to seek help from the King, but Lin Han swept past him. "Master knows that Brother Shen has been affected by evil poison, and has sent me to save him."
Sword light shot straight down to the seabed, bursting with numerous bubbles as it exploded outward, revealing Lin Han who was holding the Yu Ding in his left hand and forming a gesture with his right. He pointed, and the Ding Cover flew off, releasing a burst of Five-Colored Radiant Light. It enveloped the Divine Shen and pulled him into the Ding, after which Lin Han swiftly turned the sword light around and flew back up the mountain to report back to Shi Feiyang.
Taking over the Yu Ding, Shi Feiyang lifted the lid and inquired, "Demon, your death is imminent and yet you won't come out? Can you reside in his body forever?"
The Primordial Spirit of the Cold Centipede had gained control over some of Divine Shen's body, causing his face to twist hideously and his eyes to flash with a green light as he looked up to respond, "Who are you? What place is this?"
Shi Feiyang said, "Why don't you try flying out and taking a look for yourself?"
The Cold Centipede, cunning and deeply treacherous, replied, "Wait until I devour this fellow's Primordial Spirit and fully occupy this body, then I will fly out together with the physical form to investigate. Humph, what can you do to me?"
Shi Feiyang gave a faint smile and took out the Heavenly Heart Ring he had just perfected the day before, casting it down from midair.
This Heavenly Treasure was originally composed of a Yin Ring and a Yang Ring; the Yin Ring had been brought to the Lower Realm by the son of the Green Emperor when he was exiled, and the other, the Yang Ring, had been brought down earlier by another Fallen Immortal. It was later obtained by Ai Zhenzi and sealed inside the Shaqing Immortal Mansion in Golden Stone Gorge.
The treasure mirror, shaped like a chicken heart and neither gold nor jade, was merely an inch in size, surrounded by a ring of green light on the outside and white light on the inside. It emitted a warmth unusual for its kind and emanated a Yang harmonizing energy, invigorating anyone it touched.
As the treasure was released from his hand, it transformed into a ring of outer green and inner white light. It moved seemingly slowly yet swift in essence, descending and fitting precisely over Divine Shen's head. After flashing a few times, the Cold Centipede emitted a sharp scream; as the ring flew back up, the inner circle of white light showed the shadow of a green snail, wrapped in a wisp of green air, churning and trying to escape. However, the Heavenly Heart Ring, specialized in restraining Primordial Spirits and Heavenly Demons, ensnared her Primordial Spirit no matter how exquisitely it had evolved, rendering escape from the ring impossible.
Shi Feiyang first secured her Primordial Spirit, then administered Elixirs to Divine Shen. Not only to him, but to Red Snake, Xuan Turtle, and others who had all been infected with the Cold Centipede's Dan poison. Presently lacking a remedy to fully counteract the poison, he could only temporarily suppress it, allowing them time to slowly recuperate.
He instructed Lin Han to call them all in, distributing Elixirs to each and teaching them a specific method to nourish the body and protect the heart, refining away the Dan poison, instructing them to gradually eradicate the poison.
Meanwhile, the Myriad Cold Centipede, having differentiated and refined eight Primordial Spirits—making a total of nine including her original—each cultivated their own incarnations. Initially, she had sent one to capture Divine Shen. Everything was going smoothly until Divine Shen was taken into the Yu Ding, cutting off her connection with that incarnation. The last thing she saw was a boy barely over ten, his face stern, holding a small Ding in his left hand while forming gestures with his right hand, before his body ascended and plunged into the darkness within the Ding.
Her nine Primordial Spirits, each powerful enough to defeat formidable Demons like Long Meng—who had cultivated Dao for eight or nine thousand years and were invincible in the Outer Heaven Divine Mountain—were faced with an unparalleled situation today.
The demon raised many soft legs, shaking her Yuanbao-shaped head, continuously casting spells attempting to recall her Primordial Spirit, but there was no response at all.
Caught in a mix of urgency and anger, her eyes' peripheral vision suddenly caught Wu Longzi and Long Meng looking somewhat gleeful. Irritated, she opened all six mouths and exhaled green smoke, once again enveloping the Dharma Platform. Spreading her soft legs, she drew the two Demons in front of her and resumed mingling with them.
The two Demons dared not resist, nor relax even slightly, as losing their Dao-spirit would mean losing their very foundation in life. They quickly rallied their spirits to revel with the Cold Centipede.
They battled fiercely for six days and nights, during which the Cold Centipede absorbed a considerable amount of Essence Energy from the two Demons. Although she hadn't yet gathered their most essential Yuan Yang, she was somewhat satisfied and soon remembered that many days had passed without eating. Raising her four heads, she looked in all directions and let out several sharp shrieks.
Within moments, dozens from the surrounding mountain peaks, both Humans practicing Sword Control and Demons riding the wind, hurriedly descended. They had all been poisoned by the Cold Centipede's Dan, their eyes bulging with redness. Hearing her call, they dropped whatever they were doing and flew to the Dharma Platform, kneeling in front of the broad Jade Couch.
Ravenous, the Cold Centipede randomly selected two robust Taoist Humans and four aquatic specters, drawing them all into the green mist while she continued her relentless battle with Wu Longzi and Long Meng. Simultaneously reveling with these six, the meal took but a moment, during which the six individuals were drained of their Yuan Yang and Essence Energy, rendered limp and listless, their eyes vacant as they lapsed into near-death amid extreme pleasure.
She pushed Wu Longzi and Long Meng aside, straightening her six Ruyi-shaped heads and opening her large jaws to clamp onto each piece of nearly breathless flesh, sucking the warm blood.
Soon, she devoured the two men and four Demons, deeply satisfied, her thoughts blurred as if drunk, slumped into a deep sleep on the Jade Couch.
Those not chosen had long flown away in resentment, and Wu Longzi and Long Meng were nearly exhausted, with even Long Meng's Dragon Scales buckled. They lay at the Jade steps, whispering.
Long Meng said to Wu Longzi, "When will these days end? I almost lost control just now and nearly released my Yuan Yang..."
Wu Longzi, looking southwards, expressed his worries, "She obviously suffered quite a loss at Black Dragon's hand. It seems she couldn't defeat Black Dragon after all."
Long Meng couldn't believe it, "Is that Black Dragon fiercer than us? Was it able to make her flee in utter defeat?"
Wu Longzi was intricately and precisely cleaning his damp and sticky tentacles. Startled by this remark, he nearly bit his tentacle off, "She has always been here, clearly only sending an avatar there. There might indeed be a possibility of intense battle there but if that is the case, and her avatar couldn't withstand the Black Dragon, she would surely send more avatars. But she hasn't, something must have happened."
Long Meng was puzzled, "The Black Dragon only has formidable inner cores, what else could have defeated her?"
"I can't figure it out either," Wu Longzi said while shaking his tentacles, swaying left and right. Suddenly, he felt the Myriad Cold Centipede awaken and he immediately stood up in alarm.
The Cold Centipede, still bleary-eyed and sounding intoxicated asked, "What are you two discussing?"
Wu Longzi answered, "We were talking about the Black Dragon."
Upon hearing the words "Black Dragon," the Cold Centipede perked up, "I just went there, and didn't see any Black Dragon! There was only a Red Snake, a Xuan Turtle, and three Green Flood Dragons. In the end, a human cub holding a ding came, but no dragon!"
She then picked up the Heavenly Treasure Mirror again to peer through it. The entrances of the three mountains were still blocked by purple mist, making it impossible to see inside. Even her sprayed Dan Qi was ineffective. After scouring the lakebed and still not finding the Black Dragon, she harshly questioned Wu Longzi, "Do you think these caves might be hiding a giant Black Dragon?"
Wu Longzi quickly explained, "It's something I heard from Brother Long Meng, and I too heard the initial dragon's roar. You must have also heard it here, right? If you didn't, then it must have been Brother Long Meng's hallucination."
Indeed, the Cold Centipede had heard the dragon roar, "But where did that Black Dragon go now?"
The three demons looked at each other, none able to explain.
The Cold Centipede angrily demanded, "You two, go and gather information for me, figure out where that Black Dragon is exactly. Hearing you two talk about him, I can't wait to battle him for days and nights. Yet I can't find him."
Long Meng stuttered, "That Black Dragon is too powerful, we won't be a match for him."
The Cold Centipede opened all six of her gaping maws to speak, "So you two are a match for me? If it weren't for you still being useful, I would've already chewed you up alive! Hmph, I'm not asking you to fight him to the death, you just need to find a way to get into his cave. My Heavenly Treasure Mirror should be able to locate him then. It's mainly that purple mist that's troublesome."
Wu Longzi speculated, "Could it be the Black Dragon's Dan Qi?"
"Absolutely not!" The Cold Centipede fiercely said, "In this world, no one's Dan Qi would be stronger than mine."
Long Meng also said, "The Black Dragon's inner cores are one water and one fire, indeed not this purple. In fact, they are somewhat like mine."
The Cold Centipede scoffed, "Your Dan Qi can't even block my twelve eyes, yet you dream of blocking my treasure? Either go and find a way to let me see the Black Dragon, or offer up your Primordial Pearls and Yuan Yang as a delicacy for me now."
Having lost his Dragon Ball, and along with a definitely weaker Wu Longzi facing Cold Centipede, and since they were already poisoned by her during the scuffle, if they resisted, the Cold Centipede could cast a spell on them, causing their bodies to begin rotting immediately and their Primordial Spirits to be forcibly extracted.
Left with no choice, the two demons reluctantly agreed and departed to the bay where Shi Feiyang was located to search for information.
As they approached the bay, still over a hundred miles away, they dared not advance further and hid under a huge rock to discuss their plan.
"Now in this situation, I have a plan," Wu Longzi said, "Let's just join the Black Dragon and together, confront the Cold Centipede."
Long Meng was shocked, "How is that possible? He has taken my Dragon Ball..."
Wu Longzi flicked his tentacles back, glaring at him, "Wasn't it you who willingly sought trouble? He just called out and didn't summon you. This Outer Heaven Divine Mountain has so many formidable beings, none of them stepped forward, yet you did..."
Regretful, Long Meng wished he could turn back time to the moment he had heard the dragon's roar while he was still refining treasures under the sea. He then began to blame Wu Longzi again, "Your strategies are like sea shells trampled by smelly turtles, totally useless and disgusting! You promised to incite the Cold Centipede to battle the Black Dragon fiercely, but it ended up with us having to charge in. We even lost much Essence Energy to Cold Centipede, and now, poisoned by her Dan Qi, we can't even run away. Otherwise, I would have escaped along the Earth Axis to the outside world..."
