So, it was settled: they would go to the amusement park for Children's Day. They planned to leave that very afternoon.
The peaches on the tree in the yard had already grown to the size of a small child's fist. Some were even beginning to blush red, and it looked like they would be ready to eat by the end of the month. The apples were growing at a similar rate, though for some reason—perhaps the local climate—they grew slower than the peaches. Even though the apple blossoms had appeared first, the fruit ripened later.
Back home, Zhang Yuxi found some gentle makeup remover for the children. In the blink of an eye, they were transformed back into clean, adorable little kids.
After lunch, they played for a while. Soon, Sanbao was so exhausted that she fell asleep right on the sofa. Lin Feng gently carried his daughter to her room to rest. After settling Sanbao in her bed, he went back downstairs where the three huskies were still playing energetically.
Lin Feng checked the time. "You can play for five more minutes, then it's time for a nap!"
The children had no objections. Five minutes later, Lin Feng told them to head upstairs to bed. He gave Erbao a special reminder, "Your sister is already asleep, so be quiet and don't wake her up."
「Summer had arrived.」
The weather was warm enough that the children could sleep in their clothes with just a light quilt over them.
Zhang Yuxi was tidying up the children's toys when Lin Feng came over. "Honey, you should get some rest too."
"What about you?" she asked.
"I'll be up in a minute."
"Okay, I'll wait for you."
Once everything was put away, the couple went to check on the children. They found them all sleeping soundly. Zhang Yuxi yawned, taking Lin Feng's hand as they headed upstairs. In the living room, Da Bai and Fei Fei were already fast asleep on the sofa.
There's an old saying about spring sleepiness, autumn fatigue, and summer naps, and it was certainly a drowsy time of year. The afternoon was exceptionally peaceful. A gust of wind rustled the leaves outside while everyone inside slept soundly.
When the children woke up from their nap, Lin Feng packed a backpack, grabbed the pre-paid VIP card for the amusement park, and they all set off!
Keeping up with kids is exhausting. It might look like parents are just following them around, but it takes a lot of energy. Modern businesses were clever, though, and had placed massage chairs throughout the amusement park. This allowed parents to watch their children and get a moment to relax at the same time. The amusement park was a true children's paradise. No matter how often they came, they never seemed to tire of it.
"Honey, why don't you go sit in one of the massage chairs and rest for a bit?" Lin Feng suggested.
Zhang Yuxi pulled him along. "Come on, let's go together."
From the massage chairs, they had a perfect view of their children playing in the ball pit. But Lin Feng was still worried. "You go ahead. I need to give the kids some water soon and wipe their sweat. I'll need to put towels down their backs."
"Alright, I'll go sit for a bit then," she said.
A while later, when the kids looked like they were winding down, Lin Feng waved them over. "Kids, come here!" He felt their backs and, sure enough, their shirts were soaked with sweat. He quickly tucked small sweat towels into the backs of their shirts and offered them water. "Here, have a drink!"
Dabao gulped his down. "Dad, where's Mom?"
Erbao pointed toward the massage chairs, where Zhang Yuxi was waving at them. "Mom's over there!"
Lin Feng used a towel to wipe the sweat from their foreheads. "Mom's a little tired, so she's resting over there for a bit."
After their water break, the kids were recharged and ran off to play again. They could have played in that ball pit all afternoon. Since it was Children's Day, the park was packed with kids. Bumps and tumbles were inevitable, and sometimes fights broke out over toys. Lin Feng believed that as long as the problems were minor, it was best to let the children learn to resolve them on their own.
Just then, as Sibao stood up from the little rocking horse he was riding, another boy snatched it right out of his hands. The boy was about five or six years old, sturdy, and stood around 1.2 meters tall. While grabbing the toy, he gave Sibao a push, sending him sitting on the soft floor mat. Sibao was easygoing; he just frowned for a moment and didn't make a fuss.
But Erbao saw the whole thing and marched over angrily. "Hey! You need to apologize to my little brother! You snatched his pony and pushed him!"
The boy completely ignored her.
Fuming, Erbao blocked his path. "You have to apologize to my brother and give him back his pony!"
The boy just chuckled. "Nope!"
Erbao yelled at the top of her lungs, "Dabao! Sanbao!"
Hearing her call, Dabao and Sanbao scampered over from the slide. Dabao, with his sturdy build and a height of nearly 1.1 meters, was an intimidating sight. And while Sanbao was a girl, she certainly added to their numbers. The physical differences between boys and girls become more apparent as they grow. Although Erbao was ranked second, she was shorter than both of her brothers, Dabao and Sibao. With her two great protectors flanking her, she put her hands on her hips and pointed at the little boy.
"He snatched Sibao's pony and pushed him down!"
When Dabao and Sanbao arrived, Dabao asked, "Sibao, is that true?"
Sibao nodded. He might have let it go on his own, but with his siblings there to back him up, he wasn't going to stand down.
Sanbao, who was the prettiest and the most doted upon, chimed in, "You're so mean! Apologize to my little brother right now!"
The little boy was stunned. He probably hadn't expected his target to have three siblings. The Lin family boys were all quite tall for their age. Dabao, who had a healthy appetite, was big, and even Sanbao, who loved to sleep in, was already a meter tall. The boy started to back down, but he remained defiant. He shoved the pony to the ground. "Fine, you can have it! I don't want to play with it anymore anyway."
Sibao said coolly, "I don't want it now that you've used it."
Sanbao quickly added, "That's right! And you still haven't apologized!"
The boy stuck his chin out stubbornly. "I'm not gonna apologize!"
Dabao took a step forward. "Are you going to apologize or not?"
Erbao repeated, "Are you going to apologize?"
Sanbao chimed in too, "Are you going to apologize!"
Faced with the united front, the boy's face turned pale with fright. "WAAAH!" he wailed. "Daddy! Daddy, they're bullying me!"
The boy's father, who had been absorbed in his phone, hurried over at the sound of his son's cries. "What's going on?"
The boy pointed at the quadruplets, playing the victim. "Daddy, they're bullying me!"
Hearing this, the father's face darkened, and he glared at the four siblings. "What's this? Ganging up on my son because there are more of you?"
Erbao was the quickest to respond. "We didn't bully him! He stole my little brother's pony and pushed him down! We just asked him to apologize, but he refused and then said we were bullying him. We weren't!"
Sanbao added, "That's right, we didn't bully him!"
The little boy stubbornly insisted he was the victim, making the quadruplets tremble with frustration.
Since an adult had gotten involved, Lin Feng knew he couldn't let the children handle it on their own anymore. He walked over. "What's going on?"
Feeling wronged and angry, Erbao recounted the entire incident.
Lin Feng turned to the other boy. "Uncle is asking you a question. Did you snatch the pony? And did you push this little boy?"
The child was clearly frightened by Lin Feng's direct questioning, but he had his father there for backup. He dove into his father's arms and cried, "I didn't! They tried to take my pony!"
Lin Feng's eyebrow twitched. Damn it, I've run into a spoiled brat today!
The boy's father, without bothering to find out what really happened, immediately declared, "Did you hear that? You were the ones bullying my son! You should be the ones to apologize!"
At this, both Erbao and Sanbao were so upset they burst into tears.
Sibao was furious. "He's lying!"
Dabao added angrily, "Yeah, he's a liar!"
Every parent is inclined to believe their own child, but this father did at least ask, "Did you lie to Daddy?"
The boy, having already committed to the lie, couldn't possibly admit the truth now. "No! I'm not lying!"
Lin Feng said calmly, "Young man, if you tell the truth right now, Uncle will still forgive you."
