My College Teacher is My Children's Mom

Chapter 352 Children's Day Performance

Before bed, Lin Feng brought a basin of warm water for Er Bao to wash Zhang Yuxi's feet.

Lin Feng, holding his phone, sent Zhou Cuilan a message with a transfer of 52,000 yuan. He added a note: "Mom, happy Mother's Day!"

At that hour, Zhou Cuilan was still awake and replied quickly.

"Thank you, son!"

Seeing how filial her children were, Zhang Yuxi thought of Zhao Lizhen and gave her a call.

"Mom!"

Zhao Lizhen asked with a smile, "What's up?"

They shared a tacit understanding, but Zhao Lizhen preferred not to state the obvious.

Zhang Yuxi smiled and said, "Today is Mother's Day. Happy Mother's Day!"

"You too! And what about the kids? Did they do anything for you?"

"Yes, Si Bao bought me a cake, Er Bao washed my feet, San Bao sang me 'There's No One as Good as Mom,' and Dabao is going to lull me to sleep later!"

Zhao Lizhen felt a pang of envy. "Alright, then. Having a lot of children really is a blessing!"

After hanging up, Lin Feng asked, "Should we transfer some money to your mom, too?"

Zhang Yuxi asked, "How much?"

"I sent my mom 52,000."

"Then I'll send 52,000 as well."

After washing her feet, Er Bao dried them off. "All done, Mom!"

"You're such a good girl!"

That night, Dabao kept his promise and lulled Zhang Yuxi to sleep. Zhang Yuxi had only been pretending to be sleepy, but under Dabao's gentle coaxing, she actually drifted off without realizing it. Lin Feng took the other children to bed.

When he lay down himself, a groggy Zhang Yuxi mumbled, "Honey, did I just fall asleep?"

"Mhm."

When Zhang Yuxi didn't respond, Lin Feng looked closer and saw that she was fast asleep.

Time slipped quietly and unhurriedly through their fingers. The fruits on the peach and apple trees in the yard grew larger and larger. In just a few more months, they would be able to eat the fruit they had planted themselves.

One day, after dropping the children off at school, the old gentleman came over to spray the fruit trees with pesticides. The smell was quite strong.

"The smell will be gone in a little while," the old gentleman said. "The children won't notice it when they get back."

After spraying the trees, he inspected his work and left without even stopping for a drink of water. Lin Feng was at a loss for how to properly thank him. The yield from these fruit trees was going to be substantial. The apples, for instance, were already growing in dense clusters, to say nothing of the peaches. The entire family eagerly awaited the day the fruit would ripen.

「Before they knew it, the end of May was near.」

The school was already preparing for the June 1st Children's Day celebration. Each class was to put on two performances: one group performance and one special performance. The teacher sent a message in the group chat, asking parents to send in their children's clothing sizes. Of the thirty students in the class, twelve were selected for the special performance. San Bao and Si Bao were chosen, which meant they would get special costumes.

After registering, the parents transferred money for the costume fees. Due to rehearsals, the children would be dismissed from school a little later than usual. Three days later, the costumes were handed out to the kids.

The teacher announced in the group chat, "If any costume doesn't fit, please bring it to school tomorrow morning to be exchanged."

Lin Feng checked each of the quadruplets' costumes, and they all fit perfectly. The quadruplets' heights made them some of the tallest in their class, so their sizes were a size or two larger than most of their classmates'. Lin Feng washed the new performance costumes, looking forward to his children's first Children's Day at school.

「On the last day of May.」

The teacher messaged the parents, instructing them to bring their children to the classroom at 7:30 a.m., already dressed in their performance costumes, for makeup. This was the children's first Children's Day at school, and Zhang Yuxi was determined to be there, even if she had to take a day off work.

In the morning, they dressed the children in their costumes and arrived at the classroom on time. Last time, it had been blue eyeshadow; this time, it was green. Vibrant green eyeshadow, bright red lips, and pink, rosy cheeks… it was undeniably festive, no matter how you looked at it.

I have to take a picture for the family group chat! Zhang Yuxi thought.

"Come on, kids, give me a smile!"

CLICK. The photo was sent to the family group.

Soon after, Du Yan, Wang Lu, and Sun Rou all sent pictures of their own children. Except for the different eyeshadow colors, the makeup was identical. The group chat immediately lit up with comments.

"If I remember correctly, I had the same kind of makeup when I was little."

"That red lipstick… I think it was called 'Mod-er Red'!"

"It's been decades. Why haven't they changed this makeup style?"

"Uh, maybe it wouldn't be as festive if they did!"

The elders in the group, however, were unanimous: the children looked wonderful.

It was just like the sports meet. After the children had their makeup done, the parents carried their little stools and sat down in the previously designated area. At 8:30 a.m., after a speech from the school administrators, the Children's Day celebration officially began. The hosts, two young and beautiful teachers, started announcing the acts.

The performance order for the classes had been randomized. The first to perform was the Junior Second Class with their Sunflower Dance. The group of little ones was irresistibly cute, their dancing absolutely adorable. The second act was by the Senior Third Class. As expected of the older children, they were much more mature and composed compared to the younger class.

The Junior First Class was scheduled for the middle of the program. They were already getting ready backstage while the previous class performed. For their group dance, the girls wore fluffy yellow skirts with little yellow flowers in their hair and matching yellow shoes. The boys wore yellow short-sleeved shirts, white shorts, and black shoes. The song was "Darling Baby," and to their surprise, the lead singers were San Bao and another little boy.

It wasn't that Lin Feng and Zhang Yuxi were biased, but San Bao was truly, exceptionally beautiful. In this regard, even Er Bao paled in comparison, though Er Bao's looks were also quite striking. Mr. Li danced along at the side of the stage, a guide in case any of the children forgot their moves.

Lin Feng and his wife noticed that the quadruplets didn't make a single mistake, nor did they show any hesitation. They weren't like the other children who would dance a few steps and then look around to see if they were doing it right, or who would stare constantly at the teacher. San Bao wasn't like that at all. The children's performance was both wonderful and adorable.

Their other small group performance was scheduled for the next round. Mr. Li explained that one class would be randomly selected from each of the junior, middle, and senior grades for a second performance. This time, the Junior First Class was chosen.

After their dance, the teachers helped the children change clothes. The kids who didn't get a second chance to perform could go back to watch the rest of the show with their parents. Zhang Yuxi's heart ached seeing the children sweating profusely after their dance. Lin Feng's backpack was always prepared with water bottles, sweat towels, and snacks.

"Come, drink some water and wipe off your sweat!"

The other two, Dabao and Erbao, sat on Lin Feng and Zhang Yuxi's laps.

Goodness, the babies' makeup is just too hilarious! I could die laughing!

Soon, it was time for the Junior First Class's special performance of "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star." This time, the girls wore red dresses adorned with sequins and had sequined flowers in their hair. The boys' outfits were unchanged, except for sequined bands on their wrists. The sun hit them at the perfect angle, making the sequins glitter brightly, which fit the occasion perfectly.

Their version of "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" wasn't the familiar tune. It was an adapted nursery rhyme that was catchy and had simple dance moves.

After the performance, San Bao and Si Bao came down from the stage. San Bao plopped into Lin Feng's arms, too tired to even speak. Lin Feng gave her a drink of water and fed her a snack. This was a level of pampering that, at the moment, only San Bao enjoyed.

In contrast, Si Bao was still full of energy. She guzzled water from her cup while munching on a small bread roll.

Liu Qing was sitting nearby with Tian Tian in her lap. Tian Tian called out to Si Bao.

"Si Bao?"

Though she didn't say more, her eyes were filled with longing. Si Bao understood and handed a small bread roll to Tian Tian.

"Thank you!" Tian Tian said sweetly.

Actually, Liu Qing had brought plenty of her own—Wahaha drinks and enough bread for everyone. Perhaps she just thought that snacks from other people always tasted better.

After the last performance, the principal gave a closing speech, and the Children's Day celebration came to an end. The parents and children filed back to their classrooms in an orderly fashion. Once everyone was seated, the teacher announced that there would be no classes in the afternoon. The following day would be a holiday, with classes resuming as normal the day after.

The children cheered at the news of no classes.

After giving some final instructions to the parents and children, the teacher clapped her hands. "The teachers wish you a happy Children's Day! School is dismissed!"

Liu Qing asked, "Where are you taking the kids to play?"

Lin Feng shook his head. "We haven't decided yet. What about you? You have to work, right? What about your child?"

Liu Qing smiled. "Her dad is coming back this afternoon to spend Children's Day with Tian Tian."

Lin Feng nodded.

After they parted ways, Zhang Yuxi asked the children, "It's Children's Day! Where do you want to go and play?"

Si Bao was the first to shout, "I want to go to the amusement park!"

Dabao and Erbao had no objections. The three of them were the most active and loved to play.

San Bao, for her part, said anywhere was fine.
