"Yes, much better," Tian Xiwei said.
"Then can you let go of your hands?" Sun Dasheng asked.
Only then did she realize that her hands were clasped tightly around his waist.
"Oh? I'm sorry, was I like this all night? Did I disrupt your sleep?" As she spoke, she pretended to casually withdraw her hands.
"It's fine. I slept very deeply and didn't feel a thing."
"That's good, haha..."
Tian Xiwei laughed awkwardly as she tried to slip out of the bed. But just as she pushed the covers away, she scrambled back under them. She'd just realized an embarrassing problem: her underwear was gone.
This bad habit of sleeping naked was a critical problem for her right now.
"What's wrong?" Sun Dasheng asked, clearly feigning ignorance.
"Uh..." Tian Xiwei didn't know how to respond.
She remembered her underwear was probably in the next room.
"Brother Sun, could you help me get my clothes?" With no other choice, she forced herself to ask, though it was embarrassing.
"Sure, just a moment."
Tian Xiwei wasn't the only one with a habit of sleeping in the nude. Sun Dasheng did as well, though he at least had his underwear on. He got out of bed, stood up, and began to get dressed with the clothes from the nightstand.
Tian Xiwei's eyes were glued to him.
Watching him, she took in his eight-pack abs, his large pectoral muscles, and his broad, expansive shoulders, and she could feel herself starting to drool.
"Brother Sun, you have such a great body!" she couldn't help but exclaim.
"It's alright, I guess," Sun Dasheng replied modestly.
After getting dressed, he left the room and came back a moment later. He tossed a pile of clothes onto the bed. "Here. See if these are what you were looking for."
"Yes, they are. Thank you, Brother Sun."
"Alright. You get changed, I'm going to go wash up."
Sun Dasheng gave her some privacy.
By the time he had finished washing up, Tian Xiwei happened to be walking out of the room. It had been too dark last night for him to see her clearly, but now he could. She was dressed in a low-cut black silk evening gown that was both sexy and elegant, perfectly accentuating her superstar aura.
"Absolutely beautiful!" Sun Dasheng marveled sincerely.
"Thank you!" Tian Xiwei said with a graceful smile. "I'm going to go put on some makeup."
A star, naturally, has to look stunning at all times. Otherwise, if someone snapped an unedited photo of her without makeup, she'd lose fans.
Once she finished her makeup, it was as if her beauty had risen to another level.
Beauty truly knows no limits. Even among top-tier beauties, some always stand out more than others. Don't be fooled by photoshopped pictures online, where all the beautiful women look about the same and some online influencers even seem prettier than stars. Once you compare them offline, their true forms are revealed. Everything comes down to comparison. One look is all it takes to see who the real beauties are and who are the fakes.
And the Tian Xiwei standing before Sun Dasheng was, without a doubt, a genuine, top-class beauty.
"No wonder you're a big star. You really are a one-in-a-million beauty," Sun Dasheng said with a smile.
Tian Xiwei covered her mouth. "Brother Sun, you're such a smooth talker. It's not as exaggerated as you say."
Sun Dasheng waved his hand. "It's not an exaggeration at all."
"Well then, Brother Sun, you're a one-in-a-million handsome man, too," Tian Xiwei retorted, throwing his own words back at him.
Sun Dasheng didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
After breakfast, Tian Xiwei announced that she needed to return to Shanghai City. As it happened, there wasn't much left to do here anyway, and he was also planning to head home.
"Let me give you a ride, then. I'm heading back too."
"Alright! Thank you," she said.
「Shanghai City.」
In a certain inconspicuous restaurant known for its privacy, the three of them finished their meal. Ding Muchen spent some time consoling her good friend. Then she asked, "What are your plans for the future?"
"I don't know. I guess I'll just take it one day at a time. I still have three years left on my contract with the company. Even though I've made quite a bit of money over the past few years, you know our expenses as celebrities are huge. Plus, I bought a house for my parents, so I don't have much left. It's definitely not enough to pay the penalty for breaching the contract."
"Then…" She trailed off, unsure of how to comfort her friend. "Well, just be careful from now on. Don't give them another chance."
Tian Xiwei held Ding Muchen's hand. "Don't worry about that. It's not like one person calls all the shots at the company. The vice president who plotted against me has rivals, too. When the time comes, I'll just side with them. We'll see what he can do to me then."
Seeing that her friend was thinking clearly, Ding Muchen felt relieved.
A celebrity's schedule is always packed. Tian Xiwei got a call and had to leave for work. After saying goodbye to Sun Dasheng and Ding Muchen, she got into an MPV that had come to pick her up and departed.
Once the third wheel was gone, Ding Muchen leaned against his shoulder. "Thank you so much for last night. I don't even want to think about what might have happened otherwise."
She felt a wave of residual fear. Her heart had been in her throat the whole time she was listening to Tian Xiwei recount the incident.
Sun Dasheng patted her on the back. "It's alright. It's all in the past now."
"Isn't it a busy day at school? How did you have time to come out?"
"The busy season at the beginning of the year is over, so things have eased up a lot. I asked the principal for a day off."
"Oh? So that means you're free for the whole day?"
"Yep!"
"Alright! We've never really gone out to have fun together. Let's have a blast today."
With that, he stood up, took her hand, and led her out of the restaurant.
"Where are we going?" Ding Muchen asked from the passenger seat of the car.
"Is there anywhere you'd like to go?" Sun Dasheng asked.
Ding Muchen thought for a moment, then shook her head. There wasn't anywhere she particularly wanted to visit.
"In that case, I'll take you somewhere."
「Jinjiang Amusement Park.」
This had once been Shanghai City's first major modern amusement park, but it was later overshadowed by Disney. Still, many long-time Shanghai residents enjoyed coming here.
The two of them spent the entire day there, having the time of their lives on all the different rides.
As dusk fell, they sat nestled together on the Ferris wheel, gazing out at the sea of city lights below.
Feeling a surge of emotion, Sun Dasheng leaned over and whispered something in Ding Muchen's ear.
Her ears instantly turned red. "We're in public! Are you crazy? I am *not* doing that with you here!"
