Speed Villian: Fugitive from the stars

Chapter 29 – Tactical Kael-X

The entire arena rattled under the colossal titan's presence. Its molten cracks glowed like rivers of lava, heatwaves rolling off its metallic frame.

Spectators leaned forward, eyes wide. Some whispered in fear, others cheered with excitement. This wasn't just a rookie match anymore—it looked like a battle between monsters.

Kael stood there with his usual lazy posture, one hand raised, yellow lightning crackling faintly in his palm. Beneath the hood, his lips curled into a smirk.

The titan roared, its voice a metallic screech that shook the stands. Both of its massive blades lifted high, glowing red-hot from Adel's burning Qi.

"Alright…" Kael muttered, energy dancing along his arm. "Let's end this with one snap."

Snap!

A thick bolt of yellow lightning burst from his fingers, striking the titan's chest with a blinding flash. The crowd gasped as the stage exploded with smoke and sparks.

For a heartbeat, Kael thought it was over.

Then the smoke cleared.

The titan's cracks blazed brighter—its entire body now coursing with stolen lightning. The molten lines surged, spreading faster, its blades glowing an even deadlier shade of red.

It had absorbed his lightning.

Kael blinked, then chuckled. "…Wait. Did I just… charge it up?"

[You really did, genius.] Augustus' voice rang in his head, dripping with sarcasm.

[Who in their right mind feeds a metal construct electricity? Did you forget how conductivity works?]

Kael smacked his forehead. "Oh, wow. Science betrayed me."

[Science didn't betray you. You're just an idiot. ]

The crowd roared as the titan stomped forward, faster than before. Each step cracked the arena floor, molten sparks spitting from its body. Its dual blades slashed down, forcing Kael to leap back with a crackle of lightning under his feet.

"Kael is dodging?! He's actually retreating!" the announcer shouted, almost falling out of his seat. "This is the first time we've seen him pressured!"

"HA! Finally!" Adel's voice echoed from behind the titan, his face twisted with exhaustion but also wild joy. His arms trembled from overuse, but his spirit burned bright. "You're not untouchable! My steel… will carve through your arrogance!"

The titan swung again, the blades slicing the air like guillotines. Kael darted sideways, his cloak whipping as the ground split where he stood a moment before. Sparks flew, smoke billowed—he was moving fast, but not at his full speed.

From above, Samantha clenched the railing, her green eyes darting with every swing. "Kael, what are you doing?! You're stronger than this!"

But down in the ring, Kael was grinning ear to ear, dodging and weaving through the titan's fury.

"This is… actually fun," he muttered, sidestepping another slash, the air pressure rattling his ears.

[Fun? FUN?! You just turned a mid-level construct into a walking thunder-bomb! One wrong move and you're barbecue.]

Kael laughed, lightning flickering around his body as he narrowly avoided a sweeping slash. "Don't worry, Augustus. I'll just… not get hit."

[Oh yeah, brilliant strategy. 'Step one: don't die.' Truly tactical genius.]

The titan slammed its blades into the ground, sending a shockwave across the stage. Kael hopped onto the flat side of one blade, balancing casually as the construct tried to lift it. He crouched, tapping his chin with mock thought.

"So, what's the plan now, big guy? Gonna—"

The titan suddenly jerked, sending an electric pulse through its charged body. The lightning traveled up Kael's boots, zapping his legs.

"Arghh—OW! What the hell!" Kael leapt back, smoke curling off his boots as the crowd exploded in laughter and cheers.

"He just electrocuted himself!!"

"Did Kael mess up?! This is insane!"

"Even rookies know not to use lightning on metal!"

Kael landed, shaking his foot like he'd stepped on a live wire, his face half-annoyed, half-amused.

"You've gotta be kidding me," he muttered. "First time in centuries I've been shocked by my own damn lightning."

[Honestly, I don't even need to insult you anymore. You're doing it yourself.] Augustus' smug tone made Kael grit his teeth.

"Shut up."

The titan lunged forward again, faster than before, its molten body practically thrumming with Kael's energy. Adel's voice rang out again, ragged but triumphant:

"NOW, KAEL-X! Can you handle this?!"

Kael smirked, rolling his shoulders as yellow sparks once again danced across his body. His eyes gleamed under the shadow of his hair.

"Alright then. Let's see if I can fix this mess I made."

He zipped forward, his lightning aura colliding with the titan's blazing steel. Sparks and flames exploded in every direction as the crowd screamed, unable to tell who had the upper hand.

The battle had only just begun.

The battlefield crackled with a strange rhythm—Kael-X's own lightning still dancing along the stone body of the colossal golem. Its cracks glowed brighter, runes pulsing like veins coursing with stolen power. Each step it took now sent shockwaves that rattled the ground, amplifying its strength tenfold.

Kael tilted his head, eyes narrowing beneath the shadow of his bangs. A small smirk tugged at his lips as he admitted, almost to himself,

"Well… that was dumb."

The audience roared with laughter, some in mockery, some in disbelief.

From the balcony above, Bruno who is awake leaned forward, lips curling into a grin.

"So the great Kael-X isn't flawless after all. You've just made your enemy stronger. How poetic."

The golem raised its arm, now coated in arcs of raw energy stolen from Kael's strike, and slammed down with a thunderous crash. Kael barely slipped to the side, the ground erupting into jagged shards.

Instead of panic, Kael chuckled. His voice carried across the arena, dripping with amusement.

"Interesting… I make one mistake, and suddenly everyone thinks the fight has turned. No, Augustus—this is where it begins."

---

The golem's movements grew faster, fueled by the very lightning Kael had unleashed. It hurled a massive punch, but Kael vanished in a streak of speed, reappearing at its back. He slammed a fist into its spine, sending a ripple through the stone, yet the beast refused to falter. Instead, its core pulsed brighter, roaring with borrowed power.

Kael's smirk widened.

"So you like my lightning that much? Fine… choke on it."

He spread his arms, sparks erupting wildly as Compound-X coursed through his veins. The air bent, the pressure spiking. With a snap of his fingers, chains of crackling electricity shot out, wrapping around the golem's limbs like bindings.

The monster strained, each rune glowing violently, threatening to burst free.

Kael whispered, his voice low but sharp,

"You can't hold my power forever."

---

The arena vibrated as the golem broke one of the bindings, hurling a lightning-amped punch straight at Kael. For a split second, the crowd gasped—Kael stood still, unmoving, as though he'd frozen in place.

At the last possible heartbeat, Kael's figure blurred. He slipped past the punch, his hand glowing with concentrated energy. In a fluid motion, he slammed his palm against the creature's chest, right where its rune-core pulsed brightest.

"Discharge."

A violent surge of electricity erupted point-blank, but this time Kael wasn't feeding it power—he was ripping it away. The rune's glow sputtered, flickered, and then cracked like shattered glass. The golem let out a deep, hollow roar, stumbling backward as its stolen lightning was yanked back into Kael's veins.

Kael inhaled sharply, feeling the rush, before grinning with savage delight.

"There it is… my power belongs to me."

---

The golem staggered, weakened, but Kael wasn't done. His form blurred again, darting around the beast at blinding speed, each movement followed by vicious strikes. Fists, kicks, and arcs of lightning landed in rapid succession—each blow deliberately timed to fracture the stone body piece by piece.

Finally, Kael skidded to a halt in front of the collapsing giant, his bangs hiding his eyes, his voice calm yet cutting through the silence.

"I gave you a chance to entertain me. You failed."

With a final snap of his fingers, lightning exploded outward in a sphere of destruction. The golem's body convulsed, light bursting from the cracks in its form before it crumbled entirely into smoking rubble.

---

The arena fell silent, dust rising into the air.

Kael straightened, brushing his coat with casual disinterest. Then, turning slightly toward Bruno, he let out a mocking laugh.

"Thanks for the reminder. Even I can make mistakes. But unlike the rest of you…" He tilted his head, the faint glow of lightning still dancing around his frame.

"…I correct them in style."

The crowd erupted in a mix of awe, fear, and excitement—Kael-X had once again proven why he was unlike any other.
