Rayven's breath caught as the figure descended through the smoke-filled sky…
Her robes were still fluttering, perhaps due to her own mana…
She had a faint glowing aura around her and it wasn't just for show… It was a protective field, layered with amplification spells and others.
After seeing her closer, Rayven did not doubt her identity.
Ardania.
A Tier 5 Mage. An Archmage.
There hadn't been a single Archmage stationed in Hesa City. She had certainly come from the capital.
Rayven recognized her immediately. Months ago, he and his team had rescued her from the ruins in the forest where she had been wounded during her battle with Vairen, the rogue spellcaster who had stolen the Primordial Core.
That matter had nearly killed them all, since a stray spell from a Mage at their level would be fatal. However, they had succeeded. Ardania had survived, and they earned a favor.
After her recovery, she had gifted Rayven access to the Teal Arcane Academy's restricted library, a privilege normally reserved for senior scholars. Although he hadn't visited the place yet. It was there that Rayven could begin a more solid study of the foundations of higher-tier spells and other advanced knowledge.
But now, Ardania was here.
Hovering above the battlefield.
She hadn't noticed Rayven yet. Her gaze was fixed on the breach, where the Silver Golems were advancing through the shattered wall.
The defenders were falling back, unable to stop the constructs. Tier 1 and Tier 2 spells were useless. Even the knights couldn't hold the line.
Ardania raised her hand.
"Field Crush!"
A pulse of compressed gravity or pressure surged downward, striking the lead Silver Golem. The construct staggered as its limbs buckled under the pressure.
Its protective field or mana veil that stops weaker spells from hurting them shuddered, then collapsed entirely.
Rayven's eyes widened.
That was fast! Of course, Ardania continued!
A Tier 5 compression field slammed once again into the lead Silver Golem, distorting the space around its body…
Rayven's eyes widened.
"So strong… Silver Golems looked nothing in front of Archmages." Rayven was shocked.
Then, another Silver Golem turned toward her, raising its arm to strike. Ardania responded with a flick of her wrist.
"Soul Collapse."
The word was barely audible, but the effect was immediate. Another invisible attack hit the golem… Something happened within its body, and most of the mages felt a chill…
There was a crushing force that targeted the insides of the golem!
In just a moment, its legs buckled, and its core was destroyed…
However, Ardania's spells had cooldowns, and she couldn't use the same spells again and again. Next, she just used Telekinesis to control a broken silver golem and crush the one nearby.
Just like that, the Golem's core was exposed!
An archer on the wall saw the opening and fired.
Whom~
The Archer wasn't a simple figure, but a Gold Rank Adventurer!
Thud!
The archer didn't miss, and the golem's core shattered.
Ardania didn't stop.
She descended lower with her boots hovering just above the ground.
She was actually multicasting all this time with her flight still active…
Soon, her robes glowed with layered enchantments… It had mana efficiency, rapid casting, elemental shielding. She was built for battlefield control.
Another Silver Golem charged toward her.
She didn't move.
Instead, she raised both hands and spoke a single word.
"Earth Fracture."
The ground beneath the golem split open, forming a crevice lined with arcane spikes. The construct fell in, its limbs impaled by the sudden eruption.
Crank!
It tried to climb out, but Ardania followed up with a burst of Mana Bullets that crushed its torso against the stone.
Rayven watched in awe.
She wasn't just powerful, she was efficient. Her casting time was shorter than any mage he had ever seen. No long incantations. No elaborate gestures. Just pure, refined control.
The defenders began to rally.
Seeing an Archmage on the field changed everything. The mages who had hesitated now stepped forward, casting support spells and reinforcing the front line. The knights regrouped, pushing back the remaining Iron Golems. Even the adventurers found new courage.
Ardania turned toward the remaining Silver Golems.
There were still five left.
She raised her staff and pointed it toward the center of the formation.
"Greater Dispel."
Soon, a wave of anti-magic surged forward, striking the Silver Golems directly.
Their nullification or protective fields wobbled for a moment, then collapsed entirely.
"Tier 1 and Tier 2 Spells will work now! Crush them!" Ardania shouted…
Hearing this, the Mages celebrated as their Tier 2 spells began to land.
Rayven felt the shift immediately. Although he knew it wasn't needed, he also used his spell to see how much damage he could do against a Silver Golem…
He raised his hand and cast a fireball toward the nearest Silver Golem. It struck the construct's shoulder, leaving a visible scorch mark.
"Hmm? That's it?" Rayven wryly smiled after seeing that even with the protection, his Tier 2 Spells were still incapable of dealing damage to Silver Golems.
Nonetheless, the battle wasn't over.
But the tide had turned.
Ardania floated above the battlefield as she scanned the remaining threats.
She hadn't noticed Rayven yet, but he didn't mind. Just seeing her here, fighting for Hesa City, was enough.
"Kill the mall!" Mark shouted as he looked at Ardania gratefully…
Now that the Silver Golems could be damaged, it was time to fight back.
***
The final Silver Golem collapsed under a coordinated barrage of spells and blades.
Its core was shattered by a hammer strike from one of the city's elite knights. The impact was heard across the battlefield! Finally, the defenders of Hesa City exhaled.
It was over.
The golems, both Iron and Silver, lay scattered across the field, their cores destroyed or rendered useless. Smoke drifted from the breached wall, and the ground was littered with fragments of enchanted metal and golem stones.
Rayven glanced toward Ardania, who now hovered calmly above the battlefield... At this time, her aura had already dimmed slightly as her protective Spells deactivated one by one…
