Wooooooosh!!!
Flap!!!
At this moment, Zheng-Fu activated the moving spell to cross over to the Hell Region. It took slightly longer than usual since he had already used it a few times, but the delay was negligible. Upon arrival, Zheng-Fu wasted no time and headed straight for the Monster Kingdom's capital city.
Huh!?
"Where are all the guards at the entrance?" He noticed that no guards were stationed at the gate, nor was there a single one outside the ancient ruins.
"So strange! Could something have happened? This doesn't look good at all. I need to contact Jin-Tian immediately!" Sensing that something was amiss, Zheng-Fu quickly reached out to Jin-Tian for answers.
"Master…!"
As soon as Zheng-Fu sent a telepathic message to Jin-Tian, a faint and weak response came back. Jin-Tian's tone lacked its usual strength, causing Zheng-Fu's expression to darken.
"What happened? Why does your voice sound so tired?" Zheng-Fu's face changed drastically as alarm filled his thoughts. Something was clearly wrong; Jin-Tian's voice reflected utter exhaustion, as if his energy had been nearly drained.
"Now here…"
Zing!!!
Booooooom!!!
Before Jin-Tian could finish his reply, a spherical black energy wave shot toward Zheng-Fu, forcing him to break off the connection and dodge that thing immediately.
Flap!!!
As he regained his footing, Zheng-Fu's eyes widened in shock and disbelief.
"Demon Emperor!!?"
Ha ha ha!!!
"That's right, it's me, Kid!" A sinister voice confirmed Zheng-Fu's suspicion. As the Demon Emperor's figure appeared, he continued, "Do you want to know how I got here? Naturally, before participating in the test, I was already here. So when I was sent back, I returned to this place!" The Demon Emperor's tone was filled with smug satisfaction as he revealed his presence. It was clear that everything had been meticulously planned.
"So what? Who cares!? If you try to block my way, you already know what's going to happen!" Zheng-Fu's voice was cold and determined. He had no interest in the Demon Emperor's explanation; his priority was reaching the royal palace as quickly as possible. If the Demon Emperor intended to stand in his way, Zheng-Fu would not hesitate to eliminate him as he was not much stronger than him.
"Huh! Do you think it'll be that easy, Kid? I assure you, it won't!" The Demon Emperor was not threatened by Zheng-Fu's words, on the contrary, he smirked, showing a cunning expression as he raised his hand to give a signal.
Flap!!! Flap!!! Flap!!!
In response to his signal, dozens of shadowy figures emerged from the darkness. Zheng-Fu hadn't sensed their presence until they were already in front of him. These shadowy figures were none other than shapeshifters, created by the Primitive Demon shapeshifters, and all bore the likeness of the Demon Emperor.
"Separate figures? No… they're alive and have high energy levels. But why do they all look like the Demon Emperor? Or could they be his clones!?" Zheng-Fu's expression remained composed, though his mind briefly questioned the nature of these beings. He sensed they were different from the real Demon Emperor but couldn't immediately discern what they truly were.
Grazzz!!!
Grazzz!!!
The Demon Emperor's shapeshifters let out shrill screeches in unison before leaping toward Zheng-Fu. Some hurled energy attacks at him, while others wielded swords. However, their attacks were uncoordinated, relying solely on raw energy rather than any skill.
Huh!
"Do you really think these weaklings can stop me? Impossible!" Zheng-Fu sneered disdainfully. With a single sweeping motion of his hand, he obliterated the approaching shapeshifters, barely expending any energy.
Wooooooosh!!!
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The shapeshifters exploded into blood mist, unable to withstand the sheer intensity of Zheng-Fu's energy waves. With thirty-five Heavenly Core Pillars, Zheng-Fu's power was comparable to that of a fourth-level Heavenly Root stage cultivator. The intermediate Divine King stage shapeshifters stood no chance against him.
Tch!!!
The Demon Emperor, well aware of Zheng-Fu's immense strength, continued to send out more Primitive Demon shapeshifters. His plan wasn't to defeat Zheng-Fu but to delay him for as long as possible.
"You won't leave here until I say you can!" the Demon Emperor declared arrogantly, his tone dripping with false confidence, as though he were the strongest being present.
"Huh! Empty boasts. Do you really think you can stop me? If I want to leave, no one—not even ten of you—can stand in my way!" Zheng-Fu shot back, unbothered by the Demon Emperor's taunts. He knew he was far superior and could easily handle him.
"Deal with him!" the Demon Emperor ordered, raising his hand to signal another group of ten demon shapeshifters to attack Zheng-Fu.
"I already told you—it won't work!"
Wooooooosh!!!
Grazzz!!!
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The result was the same: the demon shapeshifters' bodies were obliterated, reduced to blood mist. Yet, more continued to charge at Zheng-Fu, seemingly unafraid of death, leaping at him with relentless determination.
Grazzz!!!
In the Demon Kingdom's capital...
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Boooooooooooom!!!
The battle raged fiercely, spreading destruction across a vast area. By now, numerous highly skilled martial masters had gathered in the capital. More than ten thousand cultivators had perished, not counting the ordinary villagers who couldn't escape the devastating energy waves from the battle.
"How many of these bastard demons are there?"
"I'm so tired I can't keep going. If they keep coming nonstop, I'm done for!"
"Damn them! This is absolutely the worst!"
The martial masters voiced their exhaustion and frustration. They were fighting with every ounce of their strength, yet the number of demon shapeshifters barely seemed to decrease. For low-level cultivators, defeating even one demon shapeshifter consumed immense energy and time. Facing two at once doubled the difficulty, making survival nearly impossible.
Even though Diao and Den joined the fight, two Divine King stage martial masters weren't nearly enough to counter the overwhelming numbers. If this continued, the city would be left without a single surviving cultivator. Even if the Monster Kingdom endured, its eventual collapse seemed inevitable.
Even the former king and queen were visibly fatigued. Yet this battle was only against the demon shapeshifters—the former Demon Emperor hadn't even intervened. If he did, the outcome might be catastrophic due to the disparity in energy levels.
In the skies above, among the endless expanse...
"Master Ming-Ren, you should calm yourself. You know as well as I do that we cannot intervene. If we do, the agreement between the Demon Tribe and us will be broken, leading to a full-scale war between the Sacred Sects, Demon Sects, and Devil Sects!" Elder Ying-Bai warned, placing a firm hand on Elder Ming-Ren's shoulder.
"I know that! But are we supposed to stand by and let the Monster Tribe perish like this?" Elder Ming-Ren understood the terms of the agreement, but the thought of his Monster Tribe facing extinction was unbearable.
"I won't accept it either. But we cannot act prematurely. The agreement forbids us from interfering in wars. However, it doesn't prohibit us from intervening if our tribe faces annihilation. We'll act when the Royal Family has only one member left!"
"That's as good as letting them be wiped out! The Royal Family are our descendants. I can't just sit by and watch until there's only one left. If this war doesn't end soon, I'll wipe out every last one of those damned demons!" Elder Ming-Ren's resolve hardened; he was ready to take action regardless of the consequences.
Huh!
"If you act to save your race, I'll be compelled to save mine!"
Huh?
"Elder Hou-Shen!"
Elder Hou-Shen suddenly appeared out of thin air, his tone sharp and unfriendly, radiating an aura of murderous intent.
"You think I'm afraid of you, Elder Hou-Shen? Even if my energy level is lower than yours, it's not so far apart that I can't fight you!" Elder Ming-Ren retorted, his expression twisting with disdain as he faced the unwelcome presence of Elder Hou-Shen.
Ha ha ha!!!
"If that's the case, go ahead and try to save your tribe! We'll see if you can fight me!" Elder Hou-Shen laughed in satisfaction after hearing what Elder Ming-Ren said, clearly relishing the challenge. His mocking tone dared Elder Ming-Ren to break the agreement, knowing it would allow him to act as well to show who truly was all talk.
Back to the ancient ruins...
Zing!!!
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Boooooooooooom!!!
Grazzz!!!
After a shichen, all the demon shapeshifters had finally been destroyed, leaving only the Demon Emperor standing. In that time, Zheng-Fu had killed over two thousand demon shapeshifters, reducing his energy reserves by three parts. Even with only seven parts of his energy remaining, Zheng-Fu was confident he could defeat the Demon Emperor.
"Now there's only you left, Demon Emperor!" Zheng-Fu flicked his Aqua-Dragon sword, shaking off the bloodstains, before raising it to point directly at his foe.
"Yes, I'm the only one left. But that doesn't mean you can leave here!" Despite being alone, the Demon Emperor showed no fear. His calm demeanor suggested he still had a plan in motion.
"If that's the case, you'll vanish from this world, Demon Emperor! I gave you a chance, but you chose death. Don't blame me for what's about to happen. I'll make merit for you later!" Zheng-Fu didn't understand where the Demon Emperor's confidence came from. But he didn't have the luxury of time to remain stuck here for long. If he didn't hurry to the capital now and something terrible happened there, he would feel immensely guilty. What Zheng-Fu was most worried about, however, was Fu-Er, his wife. For this reason, he had to leave immediately...
The Demon Emperor smirked.
