"Does anyone else have any doubts?" Before Elder Wan-Shi sent everyone back, he allowed them to ask questions in case anyone still had lingering concerns.
"I want to know who will become our master, sir," asked the young man from the Deity Weapon Sect, raising his hand. This was the same question on the minds of many other participants, but they didn't dare to ask for fear of displeasing the six elders.
"You will all find out in the next three days," Elder Wan-Shi did not answer the young man's question directly. He simply said that once everyone gathered again, they would find out on their own...
"Yes, sir, Elder!" The young man refrained from pressing further upon noticing the elder's indirect answer. Although curious, he was wise enough to hold back from questioning further.
"Does anyone else wish to ask something? If not, I'll send you back now. The more you ask, the less time you'll have left!" The old man asked once more if anyone had any questions for him, as the countdown for the three days had already begun...
"…"
"Good! Then I'll send you all back to the places you came from. It won't be the Birdy Holy Fiery Heaven Country but your actual homes. When the time comes, I'll personally retrieve you from where I sent you!" Seeing that no one asked more questions, Elder Wan-Shi waved his hand, sending the participants back to their respective homelands.
Wooooooosh!!!
In an instant, all sixteen people vanished from the testing area. As Elder Wan-Shi had said, each participant was transported back to their kingdom.
At the large martial training courtyard of the Over the World, Beyond Heaven Denomination...
Woooooosh!!!
"Respect, Young Master!" Dong-Kuang's voice rang out the moment Zheng-Fu appeared in the courtyard.
"Respect, Founder!" echoed the greetings of disciples and elders gathered there.
"Congratulations, Little Brother, on passing the test! Ah, it seems you're even stronger than before. Knowing this, I should probably join you next time so I can grow stronger too!" said Hai-Dong, stepping forward and patting Zheng-Fu lightly on the shoulder.
"Haha! It's a pity I didn't take you with me, Big Brother. Otherwise, you'd be much stronger by now. Look, some of those disciples are already nearing your energy level!" Zheng-Fu grinned and teased Hai-Dong in return, knowing his brother wasn't joking.
Ah!!!
Ha ha ha!!!
The courtyard erupted in laughter and joy. Even the eight prime disciples and an elder who had accompanied Zheng-Fu but failed the test were in high spirits. Despite not passing, they had gained significant benefits from the experience. Especially the energy levels of the eight prime disciples that had risen dramatically, with three of them breaking through to the initial Divine King stage. As for the elder, he was nearing the intermediate Divine King stage, with estimates suggesting he could break through within the next month or two.
"Little Brother, since today is such a good day, we should…"
"Let's save the celebrations for later. I know you want to celebrate with me, but I have very little time before I leave. I must go to the Hell Region first. Otherwise, I won't make it in time. Once I return, we can celebrate properly!" Zheng-Fu, knowing exactly what Hai-Dong was about to suggest, interjected because he had limited time to farewell everyone.
"Oh, I see! Then go ahead, Little Brother. When you return, we'll celebrate," Hai-Dong said, noting Zheng-Fu's urgency on his face and refraining from insisting further. He let Zheng-Fu do as he wanted.
"Thank you, Big Brother. Thank you, everyone. I'll take my leave now!" Zheng-Fu said gratefully before heading to his secret room, where the spell for moving to the Monster Kingdom was located.
At the Monster Kingdom capital...
Boooooooom!!!
The battle raged on without respite. By now, many of the Monster Tribe's skilled martial masters had fallen, with the mortality rate reaching one-tenth due to the vast difference in energy levels. Although numerous demon shapeshifters had also been killed, their losses were far fewer than those of the Monster Tribe.
"I never imagined his true trump card would be this army of demon shapeshifters. Compared to them, the previous secret demon army looks utterly insignificant. If the beings they transformed into were anyone else, it wouldn't be this dire. But these are all Demon Emperors!" King Duan-Jian panted, exhausted after battling nonstop against the demon shapeshifters for an entire day.
"Your Majesty, Commander Dan-Ge has died!" A soldier rushed in to deliver the grim news.
"Huh? Died!? How could he have died? Commander Dan-Ge was only injured—how could he die!?" the king momentarily lost focus on the battle after hearing the report from the soldier.
"Commander Dan-Ge was assassinated by the Eighth Princess, sir. However, she was captured by his confidant before she could escape. He… he raped and killed her before taking his own life, sir!"
Argh!!!
The report was too much for the king to bear; blood surged up his throat, and he vomited. The tragedy was unimaginable. Yet, with the demon shapeshifters posing the most immediate threat, King Duan-Jian forced himself to focus.
"Take care of the bodies of the commander, the Eighth Princess, and his confidants. Once the battle is over, I'll personally handle this matter. In the meantime, send soldiers to guard my daughter's palace. Ensure that nothing happens there!"
"Yes, sir, Your Majesty!"
Even if they managed to win this battle, the Monster Kingdom would be left in shambles. Countless cultivators and villagers had perished. If the Demon Kingdom seized the opportunity to launch another invasion, the Monster Kingdom might not survive.
Booooooom!!!
"Damn demons! How dare you invade my kingdom!" A furious voice roared, followed by a powerful surge of energy aimed at a group of demon shapeshifters. The explosion that ensued sent shockwaves reverberating through the battlefield, followed by a relentless barrage of sword energy.
Bang!!! Bang!!! Bang!!!
Grazzz!!!
Grazzz!!!
The roars of demon shapeshifters echoed as their bodies were shredded by the devastating waves of sword energy.
"We apologize for our late return, Your Majesty. But we're back now, along with good news—both of us have passed the test, sir!" Den floated down and stopped in front of King Duan-Jian, along with apologizing for his and his brother's late return, he also shared the good news that both he and his brother had passed the test this time...
"Stand up, you two! There's no need to apologize to me. Hmm! You've done exceptionally well. It wasn't in vain that I sent you both to participate in the test. And judging by your energy levels, it seems you've grown tremendously. Great! Truly great!" The king's voice brimmed with delight as he acknowledged their return and their improved power. What pleased him most was the shockingly high energy levels they now possessed—so high that he wasn't entirely sure if he could face both of them in battle.
"Your Majesty, please rest! We'll take care of things here ourselves, sir!" Diao volunteered, telling the king to rest after noticing the king's exhaustion.
"I can still fight! Now is not the time to rest, as many enemies remain. I'll rest when they're all dead!" The king's voice carried firm resolve. He understood his limits, but this battle was far heavier than any before. He was determined to see it through to the end. If his younger brother, Duan-Hun, hadn't been recovering his body and energy levels, or if General Dan-Ge hadn't been assassinated by the Eighth Princess, the battle might have ended far sooner.
"Yes, sir. Then we'll kill as many of them as we can!" Diao nodded without further argument, understanding that the king's determination was unshakable.
At Fu-Er's Palace...
Grazzz!!!
Slash! Slash!
Thump!!! Thump!!!
In front of Fu-Er's palace lay the corpses of numerous demon shapeshifters, all killed by Jin-Tian, who was in charge of protecting the place. The number of invading demon shapeshifters here was as overwhelming as outside the palace walls, and they seemed to come in an endless wave.
"Jin-Tian, who are they?" Luo-Qing asked from behind the palace door, where she was secretly hiding. She had noticed the sheer number of demons, their strength, and their relentless attacks.
"I don't know either. They all look the same, as if they're shapeshifters of someone else. But after being killed, their faces and appearances keep shifting!" Jin-Tian replied, equally puzzled. He couldn't identify these demons but knew they matched his strength. Fortunately, their attacks lacked strategy, relying instead on brute force. Had they employed skills, he wouldn't have lasted this long against their overwhelming numbers.
"This place is too dangerous. You should go inside and hide with Mistress. Once I've dealt with them, I'll come to you immediately!" Jin-Tian said firmly. No matter what, he wouldn't let the demons get near the palace or allow harm to come to his mistress and wife.
"But… but I'm worried about you! If I stay, at least I can help you," Luo-Qing protested, not wanting to leave Jin-Tian alone in danger. She was worried that something might happen to Jin-Tian after she left. At the very least, if she stayed, she could help buy him some time...
"If you stay here, it'll only make me more worried and unable to focus fully on the fight. Do you want me to fight while constantly worrying about you?" Jin-Tian countered. If she stayed, his concern for her safety would divide his attention, potentially causing him to falter and lose to the demons.
"All right! But you must come back to me. I'll be waiting for you inside with Elder Sister!" Luo-Qing finally relented, moved by Jin-Tian's worried gaze. Despite the heat of battle, he kept glancing at her, a sign of his deep concern.
"I promise—I'll come back to you and Mistress!" Jin-Tian replied with a reassuring smile. As Luo-Qing disappeared into the palace, he turned back to face two demon shapeshifters charging at him simultaneously.
"Today, no demon will get past me as long as I stand here!"
"Die!!!"
