Apocalyptic Wasteland Simulator

Chapter 167: Conflict! One Problem After Another

The other man was tall and skinny, his yellow trench coat flapping in the wind. Compared to his rugged companion, he looked far more sleazy. With a gaunt face and a pair of sinister, beady eyes, you could tell at a glance that he was up to no good.

The sleazy-faced man was toying with a delicate dagger. It flashed coldly in the sun as he occasionally twirled it with a flourish. His gaze was vacant as he chatted idly with his companion, but his mouth spouted nothing but filth.

"Erzhuang, you have no idea. That woman yesterday was something else. Her skin was incredibly soft, almost like silk. I heard she used to be a teacher."

As he spoke, a vile smile spread across his face, a look that would turn anyone's stomach.

The man called Erzhuang heard this and scoffed, his lip curling in disdain. "No way. How could there still be teachers in the Outer City District? Remember all those other women claiming to be teachers and nurses? The boss saw right through them. Every single one was a fake. He got so pissed he fed all that 'premium resource' to Black Demon."

Erzhuang's skepticism clearly annoyed the sleazy-faced man, who was just getting into his story. He craned his neck and retorted, "Why not? I'm telling you, she was a teacher at a school in the Inner City District. But she was book-smart and world-stupid, and on a whim, she ran off to the Outer City District to teach."

He paused, a lewd glint in his eyes, before continuing, "You know how those brats in the Outer City District are—no real skills, but they're masters of deception. They all act so pitiful and studious just to trick that broad into getting money from her family to improve their meals."

"Even if that's true, Black Demon has been around for over a year. How could a fool like that survive for so long?" Erzhuang frowned, clearly unconvinced.

"Hahaha, that's where you're wrong. This 'saint' thought the living conditions for the brats in the Outer City District were too poor, so she used her own money to build a school about ten kilometers outside the district. She even installed some water purification device and stockpiled a ton of long-lasting supplies. Relying on those supplies, they actually survived for a whole year. If their energy system hadn't failed, forcing them to go out searching for energy crystals, they would have just kept on living peacefully in this brutal apocalypse. Isn't that hilarious?"

He laughed triumphantly, as if showing off how well-informed he was. "Hahaha, the boss must have had a blast with her. Whether we'll get a turn is another story." The sleazy-faced man smacked his lips, his face a mask of regret.

"Remember that drifter couple from six months ago? Tsk, tsk…" he said, suddenly changing the subject with a disgusting look on his face.

"Don't even get me started on that. That idiot Mad Dog had his fun with the young wife until she died. Damn it! We didn't even get a turn before he had his fill," he snarled through gritted teeth.

"Hey, hey, hey, watch your mouth. If Brother Gou hears you say that, you'll be in deep shit." Erzhuang's expression changed, a flash of panic in his eyes as he quickly tried to shut him up.

"He's not here, is he? Wait, brother, you wouldn't sell me out, would you?" Sleazy Face asked, looking nervously at Erzhuang.

"How could I? We've been brothers for years. If I did something like that, would I even be human?" Erzhuang declared, pounding his chest in reassurance.

As the two continued their meaningless banter, a silver bolt of lightning suddenly appeared on the edge of their vision. The flash of light moved with astonishing speed. One moment, it was a tiny white dot on the horizon; the next, the gleaming metallic war machine's silhouette was already becoming visible.

"Erzhuang, Erzhuang! We've got action! This is a big one! Quick, signal Brother Gou behind us!" the sleazy-faced man shouted, slapping Erzhuang's shoulder repeatedly. His urgent, excited expression was that of a starving wolf that had just spotted a fat sheep.

Erzhuang's brow furrowed. He wasn't some clueless, small-time thug like Sleazy Face, who couldn't read the situation. Gripping his weapon tightly, his eyes were fixed like torches on the rapidly approaching war machine. From its unique design and lightning speed alone, he could tell this was something no ordinary faction could possess.

As for manufacturing it, a metallic behemoth of this caliber was beyond the capabilities of any nearby faction. Even if they could build one, they would treasure it, protecting it with a massive convoy. There's no way they'd let a single war machine like this tear down the highway all by itself.

By now, Chen Pingchuan had already spotted the two cars parked side-by-side, forming an unsightly barricade in the middle of the road. In his past life, he had despised this kind of selfish, inconsiderate road-blocking. Petty people would fly into a road rage over the smallest things, throwing their car across the road without a care for anyone else's hurry, dragging innocent people into their mess.

Thinking about this made Chen Pingchuan's blood boil. He had encountered this exact scenario several times during his commute in his previous life.

I already humbled myself and started taking the bus, and you still have to give me trouble? Is there no humanity left?

He had no choice back then, but now, he only wanted to…

Chen Pingchuan had no intention of slowing down.

Admittedly, there was another, more awkward reason: he couldn't find the brake pedal.

And so, the war machine charged straight toward the two blocking cars like a beast unchained.

A few seconds later, there was a deafening BANG!

The two cars blocking the road were sent flying by the tremendous impact, as if they'd been hit by a cannonball. Massive, shocking dents appeared in their doors as dust and debris exploded into the air.

"Cough, cough, cough…"

The sleazy-faced man coughed violently, choked by the swirling dust. He roared through his coughing fit, "Fuck! Don't you know how to drive? Do you have any damn decency?"

His curses sounded particularly harsh in the billowing dust.

As he watched the war machine vanish like a phantom gust of wind, the sleazy-faced man stomped his foot in fury, the ground seeming to tremble beneath him. He whipped his head toward Erzhuang, his eyes glinting sinisterly as he ground out, "Did you signal Brother Gou?"

"Yeah!" Erzhuang replied curtly.

"Hahaha, good! Let's go after them! That bastard wrecked my Raptor, and that truck cost me a fortune! When we catch that son of a bitch, I'll rip his arms off and show him what happens when you piss me off!" Sleazy Face roared viciously, stalking toward his wrecked vehicle as he spoke.
