Chapter 160 The End of Summer The End of the Knightly War

PS. This is a 4500-word chapter. Hope everyone enjoys it.

The Beastman Army began to spiral into madness. Chaos first erupted among them, leading to a loss of control. They slaughtered the captured humans and horses, then collectively launched their final assault on the human camp.

After the destruction of Ten Thousand Demon Rock, the allegiance oath of all the Beastman leaders to the Beast King became invalid with its fall. They temporarily had a common enemy, which allowed them to exercise restraint.

Without Ten Thousand Demon Rock, the Beastmen lost their totem and core of faith, causing them to lose a significant source of Divine Grace income in a short time. Deprived of the blessings of the God of Chaos, they also lost the ability to mutate and evolve, making it impossible for the Beastman Tribe to produce high-level creatures like Doomsday Bulls, Great Horned Beast Battle Groups, and Cyclops. Even maintaining the existing army became a heavy burden.

In simpler terms, the Beastman base got downgraded from three-tech to one-tech.

With the destruction of Ten Thousand Demon Rock, the Beastmen also faced the wrath of the God of Chaos.

They needed a blood sacrifice, a blood sacrifice involving thousands of the Knightly Army.

After the blood sacrifice, the God of Darkness remained unsatisfied. The Beastmen started slaughtering one another. Countless defiant Beastman leaders attacked each other, all to satisfy the endless bloodthirst of the God of Darkness.

Beastman Warband followers of different Evil Gods slaughtered one another.

Beastman Warband followers of the same Evil God slaughtered one another.

The chaotic Beastman Army began a mad feast, with even the Beast King challenged by many Doomsday Bulls.

"Fight! Fight! Fight!"

"Maras... lost... Ten Thousand Demon Rock, he's not fit... to be King!"

"Kill him! Kill him!"

In the endless chaos, the Beastman Army collapsed on its own.

Until a new Ten Thousand Demon Rock is rebuilt, they will remain in this state, until a new Beast King is chosen, or the current Beast King crushes all the Beastman Tribes through bloody conquest.

This is destined to be a lengthy process, and the reconstruction of Ten Thousand Demon Rock is even longer. Two hundred years of accumulation cannot be achieved overnight, even with such a massive blood sacrifice by the Beastmen.

......

Laine and his allies anticipated that destroying Ten Thousand Demon Rock would lead the Beastmen into infighting, allowing the Alliance Army to withdraw calmly.

After just one day, Forest Lord Delina led her troops to bid farewell: "A splendid battle, Holy Grail Knight, but we must retreat now."

In merely two days, the steadfast Brittania Knights and the brave Wood Elf Alliance proved themselves a wise choice. Despite most knights still being reluctant to trust their backs to these notorious aliens, their impression of the Wood Elves improved after fighting alongside them.

"It's an honor to have your support. It's our fortune. Perhaps you could accompany us to Crona to report our success. His Majesty the King will surely reward you, and humans will understand the crucial role you played in the war," Laine extended his invitation.

"The destruction of Ten Thousand Demon Rock is reward enough for us. We don't want too many people to know of our existence," Forest Lord graciously declined Laine's invitation: "You have already received our support, and some of my kin have paid the price with their lives. Isn't this enough, Lord Laine?"

"...I am deeply grateful for your help. I will forever remember your kindness. We have a chance to meet again, don't we? In my territory," Laine realized the Wood Elves had made up their minds, so he ceased his efforts to keep them.

"Indeed. I hope Lord Laine will remember our agreement. The Wood Elves will soon visit your territory. By then, I hope we can discuss setting up observation and trade stations," Delina said before turning to leave.

The Wood Elf army vanished into the forest, leaving behind a human army returning triumphantly.

This army still had over 4,600 troops.

Or rather, this was the last count of the Knightly Army.

From an initial force of about four thousand troops, only Laine's Right Army survived. Meanwhile, over 34,000 troops from the other two columns of the Knightly Army had forever been laid to rest in these woods.

This was equivalent to one-eighth of the entire Brittania's military strength.

Yet, they still achieved victory. Ten Thousand Demon Rock was destroyed. Laine's triumph made the Beastmen's victory against the Knightly Army meaningless. For several years, the Beastmen would never again form a substantial beast tide.

Thinking of this, Laine felt somewhat relieved. After a long campaign, the Genetic Primarch could finally relax a little.

Unknowingly, the time had come to early September. They would head north out of Arden Forest, towards capital Crona of the Knight Kingdom to report the mission success, before returning to their territories… well, not quite each, considering that only the armies from two duchies out of ten remained.

The peasant soldiers began discussing their possible rewards, while many young Ranger Knights wondered whether they could get promoted. The whole army gained substantial loot, as the Beastman's collection contained plenty of gold and silver. In fact, nearly all races in the world adore gold and silver.
