Chapter 159 Battle of Ten Thousand Demon Rock (Part 2) (4700-word special chapter please subscribe!)_3

The remaining two thousand troops established the final camp, awaiting the arrival of the last moment. No knight chose to surrender, no knight chose to fall. Even though the God of Darkness whispered in their ears, they remained steadfast in their belief in the Lady of the Lake.

Marquis Angxi's lips turned purple, and his face was pale. He picked up the Magic Communication Device in vain, only to put it down immediately.

He no longer had any gemstones. Just yesterday, during a call, his tent was raided by beastmen, resulting in heavy losses. The shield emblem given to him by the king and his family heirloom shield were even taken by the beastmen. He himself barely escaped the encirclement under the desperate protection of his personal guard.

"Nothing is left, nothing is gained," Marquis Angxi murmured. He gazed at the camp of the Knightly Army. Now, the entire army had less than two thousand people, and at the end of his sight, the beastmen launched a new round of offensive. The knights, who had been starving for days, gradually collapsed, but they still persisted.

Surrender was not an option; this was everyone's consensus.

"Ha, we might not hold out for three more days," Marquis Angxi mocked himself. He gave the Right Army a deadline of three days for reinforcements, regardless of whether they would come. On just the first day, the Knightly Army had already been reduced from ten thousand to two thousand—how could they endure three days?

"Pierre, do you think we can last three days?" The young face of Marquis Angxi was full of despair, as if he was asking his deputy, Baron Pierre, yet also talking to himself.

"I am prepared to fight to the death." Baron Pierre, like the marquis, had sunken eyes. He was eating his rationed food—a nearly transparent slice of bread and some fried peas. The food of the Knightly Army was already exhausted, and even as the deputy general, he could only get these.

"Pierre, tell me, were we brought to such a condition because of my command?" Marquis Angxi pushed away the food brought by the Knight's Squire and continued, "Tell me the truth."

"...I don't know, my marquis. Adelaide's complete annihilation is his responsibility. I just think there was one mistake on your part: when we failed to take Yulsen Castle on the first day, we should have immediately retreated or sought to join forces with the Right Army," Baron Pierre hesitated for a while but finally told the truth. "My marquis, perhaps you overestimated our offensive capabilities and underestimated the combat strength of the beastmen."

"Yes, it's my fault, all my fault," Marquis Angxi yelled angrily. "Blame me; you all blame me. You look down on me as a first-time commander; you look down on my identity as His Majesty Richard's nephew's grandson. Did I err in my command? If not for Adelaide's foolishness, would the Knightly Army have become like this? Was my decision on reinforcements wrong? Was my decision to besiege wrong? If we had decided to retreat, do you know what I would face upon returning to Kulona? Cowardice and fleeing? Abandoning allied troops?"

Baron Pierre remained silent.

"Enough, I've had enough; let it end, end it all. I will use everything I have to atone to the Lady and hope to gain her forgiveness." Marquis Angxi finally made his decision. He commanded the remaining knights to mount their horses, ready for the final charge.

"We are the Lady's knights. Even if we die, we must die on the path of the charge." The Knightly Army had more than two hundred knights left, with half being Kingdom Knights and the other half Ranger Knights. Facing the marquis's order, although they had grievances, they still responded to the commander's call, mounting their warhorses and raising their cavalry lances.

In front of them was an army of nearly seven thousand beastmen, all of which were elite war beasts.

Every knight knew what awaited them, but they were uncomplaining and undaunted.

"For the Lady and the King! For Brittania!"

"Advance! Knights! Advance!"

The tragic sound of the horn resonated for the last time among the Knightly Army.

"Humans... regroup... awaiting... death," Beast King "Blood Horn" Maras growled.

"The end... of all things... approaches, the extinction... of humanity... inevitable," Screaming Great Shaman "Heart-Eater" Groz answered.

"Forward! Attack!" The beastmen gathered together.

Thirty minutes later, the Knightly Army was completely annihilated, with all knights from Marquis Angxi downward perishing in battle, leaving no survivors.

Yet, just as the beastmen were about to celebrate victory, an excruciating pain and extreme spiritual anguish suddenly swept through the minds of the Beast King and Great Shaman.

"No... no!"

"Sete... is dead! Ten Thousand Demon Rock... has been destroyed!"
