Final Life Online

Chapter 184: Third Class

Rhys held Severance Tide in both hands.

The sword's glow dimmed slightly, as if waiting… expectant.

A notification blinked in front of him.

[A Mythic-Class Weapon has acknowledged you.]

[You are eligible to inherit its Ancient Class.]

Rhys inhaled.

Aria leaned forward. "Do it! Do it!"

Sophia nodded calmly. "This is the sword's will."

Caria smirked. "If you don't accept it, I'll slap you."

Puddle hopped in place. "Become shiny knight!"

Lyra simply lowered her eyes. "It suits you."

Rhys nodded… and accepted.

[Class Acquired — Moonborne Knight]

Blue light burst around him—gentle, not blinding.

Severance Tide resonated softly, like a melody underwater.

Rhys felt mana settle into his body like a second pulse, aligning perfectly with the blade.

A new interface opened.

★ Awakening Requirement ★

This class grows stronger by fighting elite monsters, ancient creatures, and tide-type bosses.

It is designed to synchronize with Severance Tide's growth.

Aria stared at the interface and almost fell backward.

Aria stared at the interface and almost fell backward.

"BRO. That's… actually really strong."

Caria grabbed her hair. "You're basically one step below a raid mini-boss now!"

Sophia raised an eyebrow, impressed. "…This is still far above any normal class. Even for Mythical-tier."

Puddle sparkled. "Master is Moon Splash Knight!"

Rhys looked at his hands.

He felt… different.

His mana flowed smoother.

His movements felt lighter.

Almost like water moving through him.

Lyra watched with a faint smile.

"That class belonged to a very old order," she said quietly. "Warriors who mastered tides and moonlight. It has been silent for centuries."

Rhys looked at her.

"Then why wasn't it in any book? Any archive?"

Lyra's eyes drifted to the reforged blade.

"Because the records were destroyed," she said softly. "History was rewritten by those who won. The Moonborne Knights were… erased."

Aria blinked. "Erased? Like someone didn't want people to remember them?"

Caria crossed her arms. "Whatever the reason… the class suits you."

Sophia nodded. "And we'll support you, as always."

Rhys sheathed Severance Tide quietly.

The sword gave a soft, low hum in response — like a calm wave rolling onto a shore.

"Alright," he said.

"I'm the Moonborne Knight now."

Outside, the midnight wind was cool and quiet.

Too quiet.

The final calm before everything changed.

Because tomorrow morning, when Rhys stepped outside Pearl Island's gates…

Slasher and his team — gripping their precious Rank 3 Aqua Fang Serpent summon scroll —

would be waiting for him.

****

The sun rose slowly over Pearl Island, painting the rooftops with soft gold.

A calm breeze drifted through the harbor. Boats creaked gently. Vendors opened their stalls.

Everything looked peaceful.

Too peaceful.

Rhys stepped out of the workshop after a final check with the old craftsman.

"The reforging is complete," the old man said with a tired smile. "The sword is yours now. Just… be careful out there."

Rhys nodded. "I will."

The others gathered around him outside.

Aria stretched. "Alright! Breakfast, then adventure, then beating up idiots!"

Caria scanned the street. "They're not here. They're waiting outside the walls."

Sophia tightened her gauntlets. "Which means we'll be attacked the moment we step out."

Puddle floated circles around Rhys. "Master strong now! We beat snake monster!"

Lyra suddenly turned her head toward the far side of the island.

Her eyes narrowed… sensing something distant.

"They're there," she said softly. "Far from the gates. Hiding their mana… but poorly."

Rhys exhaled. "So they really came."

Aria cracked her knuckles. "Bring it."

Caria nodded. "Let's end them quickly."

Sophia glanced at Rhys. "You will be their main target now."

Rhys placed a hand on Severance Tide's hilt.

"I'm ready."

The party began walking toward the city exit.

Guards nodded at them respectfully as they passed.

People glanced at the sword on Rhys's back, but no one knew its true value.

Only one group did.

And they were waiting.

◆ ◆ ◆

Outside Pearl Island — Forest Path

Slasher crouched behind a group of rocks.

His teammates were scattered in hiding positions — behind trees, behind ruined pillars, inside bushes. Everyone was tense and sweating.

"Slasher," one of his rogues whispered, "are we… really doing this?"

Slasher grinned wide, his fingers twitching with excitement.

"When he steps into this forest, we use it."

He held up the glowing blue Rank 3 Summoning Scroll — Aqua Fang Serpent.

A terrifying water serpent. Strong. Fast. Deadly.

They were sure they could win with it.

"Once the serpent kills Rhys and his team," Slasher said, voice shaking with greed,

"we grab the sword, grab everything they drop… and disappear."

His teammates nodded nervously.

"…Do you think he got stronger?" one whispered.

Slasher scoffed. "He can't get THAT strong in two days. Relax."

None of them had any idea.

They had no clue what class Rhys had just awakened.

No clue how Severance Tide had transformed.

No clue their "easy ambush" was about to turn into a nightmare.

Slasher peeked down the path.

Shadows moved.

Footsteps approached.

He smirked.

"There they are."
