Please be something good. Meera prayed before she looked at the skills she had stolen. It felt like it had been
*ding!*
[Class Ability Activated. You have stolen the skill Bonecrusher Bite – Level 125. Bonecrusher Bite – Type: Active. Affinity: Power Affinity. You can bite your enemies with devastating force, ignoring most armor and defenses, dealing massive bleed and crushing their bones to dust. Would you like to acquire this skill?]
*ding!*
[Class Ability Activated. You have stolen the skill Pack's Wrath – Level 225. Pack's Wrath – Type: Passive. Affinity: Sound Affinity. You can unleash a chittering sound that coordinates your pack, and together you descend on your target, circling it and leaving it nowhere to escape, as you all enter a blood-fueled state. Would you like to acquire this skill?]
If you spot this story on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
She felt like she had seen the first one before. Maybe from one of the Kyldars. She could be wrong, but she had no intention of going around biting people. And since she didn't have a pack, the second one was useless. She moved on to the second set of skills.
*ding!*
[Class Ability Activated. You have stolen the skill Zhythar's Mark – Level 125. Zhythar's Mark – Type: Passive. Affinity: Sight Affinity. You can mark a prey with a pale mark that only other members of your pack can see. It helps you track a prey that tries to escape. Would you like to acquire this skill?]
*ding!*
[Class Ability Activated. You have stolen the skill Nocturnal Gaze – Level 217. Nocturnal Gaze – Type: Passive. Affinity: Dark Affinity. Your eyes adapt to darkness, allowing you to see clearly even in the faintest light and locate hidden or camouflaged prey. Would you like to acquire this skill?]
The first one was completely useless, but the second one gave her pause. She could use it, but she already had a skill that let her see in the dark and gave her a three-sixty degree vision. So, she passed up on both of them, though if she had the Failed Crystal of Darthin, she could've fused this skill with her Mirrorbound Sight.
I hope you're working quickly, Professor.
*ding!*
[Class Ability Activated. You have stolen the skill Silent Fang – Level 255. Silent Fang – Type: Active. Affinity: Sight Affinity. You can strike your prey with a predator's grace, striking without a sound and sinking your teeth into their vital spots. This skill does critical damage if used from stealth, finishing off your prey with a single strike. Would you like to acquire this skill?]
*ding!*
[Class Ability Activated. You have stolen the skill Ironhide – Level 217. Ironhide – Type: Passive. Affinity: Primal Affinity. You can harden your hide like armor, deflecting blows that would tear lesser creatures apart. Would you like to acquire this skill?]
As much as she wanted to take Ironhide, she didn't have a hide to harden. Though this made her wonder if this would work on her skin. Regardless, she let it go, choosing to rely on her armor instead.
*ding!*
[Class Ability Activated. You have stolen the skill Rending Slash – Level 217. Rending Slash – Type: Active. Affinity: Primal Affinity. You can unleash a flurry of brutal slashes, empowered by your pack. The greater your pack, the harder this skill will hit and strip the flesh off your enemy's bones. Would you like to acquire this skill?]
The second skill was Zhythar's Mark again. She ignored these two, as they had nothing to do with her skills, nor did she have a pack to carry the momentum for these skills. She was somewhat sad that nowadays, it was tough to find something whose skills matched her other skills.
The last set of skills was nothing special either.
*ding!*
[Class Ability Activated. You have stolen the skill Power Affinity – Level 197. Power Affinity will provide a boost of 4% for every level henceforth for all your Power Affinity skills. Would you like to acquire this skill?]
The second skill was Silent Fang again. She didn't think about it and took Power Affinity, because why not. It would boost her Druvis Might skill even if it did nothing else. After all, Veridiana had taught her that if she had the Affinity for a particular skill, that skill would level up faster.
*ding!*
[You have acquired the skill Power Affinity (II) – Level 78]
With that, Meera was ready to walk on and continue her adventures to kill more druvis and gain more experience, and hopefully some levels as well. She had taken not less than a dozen steps when she found her next marks, or more like they found her.
It was a pair of Kyldars. How had they come upon her so silently? Meera didn't know, but it was as if they had flown to her, without making a single sound. But as soon as they saw her, they roared a deafening roar. It was enough to make her clamp a hand down on her ears.
[Kyldar – Level 512]
[Kyldar – level 507]
Meera grinned. So, the prince was right. You do get stronger in the night.
However, the phenomenon that caused this was beyond her. Perhaps it was the jungle itself that made its creatures stronger, or maybe the stronger ones emerged at night to play. In the end, it was good for her.
She pulled off two chakrams, activated Shadow Coating, and applied a layer of shadows to them. The chakrams twinkled under the shadows, making it look like she was holding two chakrams made of stars.
She hurled one chakram to the nearest Kyldar, who deftly dodged to the side, making Meera frown. The agility with which it dodged gave Meera pause. A creature almost fifty feet tall simply jumped aside like it was nothing, and best of all, it hardly made the earth rumble.
While she was perplexed with the first druvis, the second one came for her with the same speed. Thanks to her chakrams, she was saved. She launched it at the Kyldar and propelled it with Mirror Bolt. Her chakram was nothing but a streak that whizzed so fast that it left a streak behind as it rocketed through the air towards its target.
To Meera's disappointment, it didn't cut off the druvis's head. It got wedged in its neck. It was deep, but not enough to make any real significant difference to the monster.
It flinched and recovered quickly, then charged once more, as did its partner. Meera littered the area with mirror shards from her armor and teleported away. She recalled both her chakrams and the one stuck in the Kyldar's neck opened a bloody wound as it flew out of there. Dark blood gushed out of there, and the Druvis wailed. It was clear that it wouldn't last long.
She decided to end its suffering first. She jumped into the air and stayed there. She shot the dying Kyldar with a Mirror Shard Fury. It tried to dodge to the side, but Meera changed the direction of her hand and hit the monster directly in the face. It rocked to one side and then into the other. Then Meera attacked for real.
She activated Mirror's Wrath and focused only on the shards embedded in the Kyldar's body, and blew them apart. The Kyldars didn't even get the time to scream as her skill blew them apart, leaving giant holes in their bodies. Their organs falling out of them, and washing the ground with pools of their blood as they dropped dead. It was now that they shook the earth.
She didn't look at the poor creatures for long and moved on. She didn't want to stay there, and think on the fact that if she hadn't come here, they could've still been alive. If she stopped to think that, she would never be able to do what she wanted to do, and that was to get stronger.
She walked deeper into the jungle. This time, she purposely took a different path than last time, hoping to run into something else or another stronger version of the monster that they had already fought.
Her prayers were answered when she came face-to-face with an Exarion. The druvis with the axe-like tail. She grinned when she saw its level.
Ah, finally something that can almost match me.
[Exarion – Level 589]
The creature gave her one look and charged. It stopped mid-charge and swung its whole body around to cut her in the middle with its tail. But Meera had been preparing herself by littering the area with mirror shards and teleported to safety before its tail slammed into her. Even Greater Vitalize couldn't have saved her from that. However, one part of her wanted to try, as the skill could regrow limbs and organs.
The Druvis looked around, trying to find Meera, and she wondered if he had bad vision in the dark. So, decided to make its problem even greater by going invisible with Shroud of Shadows. As long as she was in the shade of the trees, hidden from Mirithia's light, she was safe.
The creature almost thought that she was gone, and that was when she struck. First, she applied a Death Mark on it. Given how strong the last two were, it would stand to reason that this one's hide was even stronger. Then she did the same thing, coating one of her chakrams with shadows and hurling it at her target.
The creature moved at the last possible second and saved its life, as it moved its head out of the way. But her chakram still sheared the top of its spikes, leaving behind blunt, broken things on her back.
The Exarion didn't like that at all. It trembled with rage and roared as it bent forwards. Its shell was facing Meera, and the broken spikes launched her way.
Meera tilted her and teleported behind the Exarion and punched the air with a Quaking Fist. The air reverberated, and the world rocked as the Exarion fell and rolled a few times to end up on its back. It struggled to get back on its legs, but it could do nothing, save for cry out pathetically.
Now, Meera hurled her chakram at his underbelly and ripped it open from tail to throat. Its fidgeting came to an abrupt stop as the creature's blood spilled out of it.
She recalled her chakram, a little disappointed at how easy it had become to kill these things. She was a little too overpowered now. Not that she was complaining, but she remembered not too long ago, in every fight, she was hair's breadth away from dying. At least, she could rest easy that she wouldn't have to face that again, any time soon.
Then, just as she put her chakram on her back, she heard singing. It was very faint, but it was there in the air. Someone was humming a tune that made her a little sad.
Who is crazy enough to be out here this late?
She, of course, didn't count herself as crazy, as she could take on these creatures. She rose into the air, above the treeline, and the song became clearer.
Well, whoever you are, I hope you are friendly.
Meera picked up speed as she flew towards the source of the humming.
