"Eternal Council!"
Tang Qi's eyebrows twitched; another name to join the "Big Names Behind the Historical Fog" list of mysterious organizations.
He didn't show any surprise but he couldn't help recalling the speculations written by the last "Great Polymath," predecessor David Finch, in that controversial book:
"The Civil War that once swept across the Federation was actually instigated by a group of conspirators aiming to seize the Fruit, all of whom were from an organization called 'Eternal Council'...They were indeed heavily injured by the Twelve Saints, but they also successfully seized the Fruit."
"David Finch speculated that the members of the Eternal Council went underground, their tentacles reaching into the upper echelons of the Federation, acquiring a large portion of power, making them almost impossible to eradicate, merging with the Federation itself."
"The predecessor's speculation was naturally denounced as a conspiracy theory, but now, it seems to be correct."
Tang Qi held this view, naturally, because His Lordship Barton Bird had chosen him as an opponent.
Although a newcomer to the "Holy Eagle Nest Society," the clear purpose of this mysterious organization was to maintain the Federation's interests.
Anyone or any organization trying to damage these interests was an enemy of the Eagle's Nest Association.
As an "Undying Pioneer," Barton Bird, instead of chasing after Biters, Morphological Shows, and members of the Doomsday Sect, those Evil God believers, was entangling with him, which was enough to suggest that the "Eternal Council" was listed as the top threat by the Eagle's Nest, indirectly validating David Finch's conjecture.
"The Holy Eagle Nest Society and the Eternal Council are probably deadly enemy organizations."
When this thought flashed through Tang Qi's mind, he turned to look at the other two Undying Pioneers.
Out of the corner of his eye, he also saw several other members of the Eagle's Nest who were still wailing; their bodies exhibiting extremely nauseating mutations, with the female Transcendent closest to Tang Qi, releasing a 'body odor'-like stench in her painful, hunched body that drifted about wildly.
And behind her, at the back of her head, "meat tumors" bulged, squirting white pus, making her look as if she had just finished some evil "milk bath."
Then her abdomen began to visibly swell, in a blink resembling pregnancy.
No, she was indeed pregnant.
In Tang Qi's ears, he could hear the muffled 'thump thump thump' of a baby's heartbeat.
With a moment's thought, Tang Qi realized the source of the pollution.
It was precisely from Barton Bird and that "Immortal" releasing the negative effects of witchcraft, curses, and various Secret Medicines.
Most of them came from unfathomable Secret Medicines.
"A Professional Level Transcendent glimpsing the combat between two Legendary Level Secret Medicine Masters, this is the consequence."
Muttering to himself, Tang Qi noticed that despite her continuous wailing, the female member still insisted on being a spectator.
Only when her belly started hearing evil, shrill howls did she finally lower her head, eyes streaming with blood tears, quickly taking out Secret Medicines to mitigate the contamination she suffered.
"Going to such extremes?"
Tang Qi then looked at the other members, including the two High-level Deacons.
The latter two were far above "Professional Level."
But to glimpse a Legendary Level battle still subjected both to tremendous pressure; meaty pinkish buds spread on their exposed palms skin, turned black, festered, and fell off, leaving behind disgusting scars... Blood tears fell from the edges of their masks.
Despite this, everyone insisted on watching the spectacle.
As if they had all become fanatical "gossipers," not wanting to miss any excitement.
At this moment, Tang Qi faintly recalled.
"The chances of a Professional Level advancing to Legendary Level are much lower than an ordinary Transcendent reaching Professional Level, and observing a Legendary Level fight has a certain chance of gaining insights, even though they're very faint, any Transcendent with aspirations wouldn't miss it."
"Hmm, except for me."
Tang Qi immediately found himself once again an "outlier" among the onlookers.
In fact, the others had noticed as well.
Most of the audience paid a price to watch the battle. Even those who were exempted through the use of high-level wonders weren't having it easy. At least, they couldn't be as indifferent to pollution like Tang Qi, who even had the leisure to put on an annoying, provocative demeanor.
However, everyone else was too preoccupied to pay him any mind, merely silently raising the threat level of that "yellow squirrel."
Many began to wonder: Could this squirrel be of "Legendary Level"?
Of course, Tang Qi hadn't reached Legendary Level, but due to his connections to the "Dream Kingdom," he had effectively stepped out of the rank system of the Mysterious Side.
His situation was more like the deeds of the Age of Ignorance recorded in ancient books.
People of ignorance obtained the "Divine Source," and through groping, fighting, gradually became true Divines.
This process, naturally, could no longer be applied using the Transcendent system.
One of the associated benefits:
Gazing at Legendary, or even Demigod Level fights, could not cause pollution to Tang Qi.
Realising this, Tang Qi still had no intention of correcting his behavior, continuing to shake his short legs while looking at the other two Undying Pioneers: Edward Aldrich and Joseph Lynch.
To Tang Qi's slight surprise, it was the Legendary Level Berserker "Joseph Lynch".
He chose as his opponent a member from the Horror Biter Organization, a Transformed Beast plus Bandaged Man, whose body was mountainous, composed of tentacles, flesh, and carapace; just by drifting, it made some spectators scream continuously.
But in the next moment, it met with inhuman treatment.
Joseph Lynch!
He pulled an axe from within his torso and brought his arm to his mouth, blood splattering as it bit down with a "crack".
Boom!
The searing, steaming blood erupted like a volcano, instantly sweeping through the area. Within the crimson flood, a frenzied figure swung the axe, destroying everything in its path like a flood bursting its banks. Any entity that stood in his way was smashed to pieces.
It was as if the transformed beast, akin to a wandering "Extraordinary Creature," suddenly understood what it felt to be dismembered.
...
"The last pair!"
On the black reef, Tang Qi struggled to turn his head, his gaze reaching the area near the summit. In the forefront of the storm, where dozens of "Legendary Level" strong were locked in combat, two bizarre silhouettes were entangled with each other.
As Tang Qi's eyes swept over, his current state also revealed itself.
Still clutching a pipe and shaking his leg, it was visible to anyone.
This "Great Detective Squirrel" had a cute face, marred with dark circles, unable to hide his fatigue.
Clearly, his scrutiny of the battlefield was not without consequences. After too much observation, he ended up looking this way, and if someone with impure thoughts saw him, they might think the squirrel had done too many pleasurable activities.
In his monocle lens, the reflected image showed a man dressed in dark blue uniform and overcoat, wearing a "Crystal Mask" on his face, engaged in combat with a faceless woman dressed in a white lab coat holding a surgical knife.
Their fighting styles were both incredibly bizarre.
It seemed both could unleash some kind of "Mirror Space" and move through it, striking each other from impossible angles.
But every time they clashed, the mirrors would both shatter simultaneously.
Without "True Gaze," the spectators would see a constant fracturing and reassembling of the space in that region, accompanied occasionally by the sound of breaking glass.
But peering into it had severe consequences.
At a distance, a "Transcendent" from the official side did so, and almost immediately...
"Ah!"
A bone-chillingly pitiful scream echoed down to the base of the mountain.
This was a big man whose body seemed to have struck a "Mirror Space." Gleaming white slices of light flickered as dozens of cuts across his head dismembered him, and as half his skull slid off, a "crack" was heard, and he exploded into countless shards of glass, scattering in all directions.
Simultaneously, in Tang Qi's eyes,
At the forefront of the storm, the two collided once again.
"Boom—crack!"
With the sound, two pieces of "Information Fragments" emerged in Tang Qi's mind.
"Extraordinary Creature: Crystal Agent, Legendary Transcendent, fused with the high-level wonder 'Crystal Mask'... He comes from the 'Ancient Mystical Vault,' a Mysterious Organization."
"Extraordinary Creature: Faceless Woman, Legendary Dissection Demon, with unimaginable killing power... She comes from the 'Mam Sanatorium,' a Mysterious Organization."
When Tang Qi ascertained which organizations they belonged to, as the space shattered, the two figures immediately parted upon touching and flew past "Ludwig," who was climbing up the side, towards the very top of the Black Mountain where the "Black Giant Chair," fit only for giants, was situated.
Their target had shifted from Ludwig.
They both coveted the "Thorny Suit" placed upon the giant chair.
This scene, clearly beyond the other legends' expectations, also astonished the spectators.
But Tang Qi saw that the "Second Rotten Head" on Ludwig's shoulder was once again showing a mocking expression.
"These two are in for a disaster."
This thought unconsciously emerged in his mind right as an upheaval happened.
Just as they passed Ludwig and stepped onto the next "Black Stone Step,"
Before them, on the originally smooth black stone, suddenly emerged an imposing and righteous apparition.
He stepped out from within the stone, dressed in clothes of an old era, with pale skin and unkempt facial hair, but with a face so dignified and persuasive. In his hand, he gripped an old axe, and as he looked towards the two "Legends," he swung it down.
Unfortunately for the "Crystal Agent" and the "Faceless Woman," who should have attacked the apparition or rushed past it, they immediately turned to flee upon recognizing their opponent.
But it was a little too late.
"Justice never fails to appear."
As this voice, filled with infinite dignity, resounded, an endless axe shadow slashed down.
The shadow appeared and vanished instantly, as if an illusion.
A crack!
And a snap!
Similar sounds erupted from both of their bodies.
Under everyone's gaze, they exploded mid-air like shattered glass, turning into countless crystals and fragments, tumbling downwards.
Boom!
The minds of everyone present were struck with terror, the scene before them overturning their understanding as a wild guess spread like toxic ivy at the bottom of their hearts.
