In the books that record and describe the many mysterious organizations and events of the Dark Era, the words "Rotten Head" often appear and are mostly associated with horror and disaster.
Even among scholars of the Mysterious Side, a consensus has formed:
"No one knows exactly how many rotten heads there are among the Rotten Head, but whenever any 'rotten head' makes an appearance, no matter its number, it will cause a disaster that results in the death of at least tens of thousands, if not millions of people... The creator of the Blood Mud War, 'the Ninth Rotten Head', was like this, and the creator of the Black Death Plague, 'the Third Rotten Head', was no different."
Previously, Tang Qi along with many other organizations witnessed the appearance of "the Second Rotten Head", whose entrance was crawling out from the shoulder of Ludwig, the confessor's indirect disciple, atop a small hill made up of Rotten Head and Morphological Show member corpses.
While it wasn't exactly terrifying, it was certainly shocking.
It was originally thought that this Second Rotten Head would be even more destructive than the Ninth or the Third.
But now, Tang Qi feels that is worth doubting, for the moment.
"Putting aside whether it has disaster-level destructive power, this group's mocking skills are top-tier within the Evil God Organization."
Similar thoughts were shared by other "audience members" watching the battle.
Contrarily, the victims, being Legendary strong individuals, did not emit any unusual fluctuations, as if they did not take the mockery to heart, or simply considered the "Second Rotten Head" a noisy duck.
This was quite normal, as none who had become legendary were simple beings.
In terms of spirit and will, they were surely tenacious enough, otherwise, they would never be able to complete the legendary trials within the "Mystery".
Even the constantly chattering Second Rotten Head received several disdainful glances, mostly from Extraordinary Monsters within its own camp.
For instance, at this moment, a terrifying "Transformed Beast" engaged in combat with an ancient Heavy Armor Soldier holding a Holy Sword, had the Bandaged Man atop its head intentionally separate a piece of flesh from the mass underneath its feet to approach Ludwig within a "force field".
The piece of flesh transformed into an eyeball mid-air, vividly expressing one message: deep disdain.
Despite exploding in the very next second, the message had been clearly conveyed. This was enough to infuriate the "Second Rotten Head", causing it to launch a Concentrated Fire attack on the "Horror Devourer," unleashing a torrent of foul language as it wantonly insulted the Biter Evil God, the subject of the Bandaged Man's faith.
Meanwhile, rare secrets occasionally slipped out, tantalizing the audience at the foot of the mountain.
And at this time, under the overwhelming and powerful "Pla Field," a dense, viscous darkness swept out silently, devouring the light and everything else, until the scene was completely enveloped in blackness. Everyone saw at the same moment.
The source was an aged, hunched Human Figure.
He wore a top hat and leaned on a walking stick, covered head to toe in black, with only the edges of his pitch-black eye sockets, nostrils and mouth revealing a hint of ashen color.
This "old man" inched toward Ludwig, with the darkness resisting the force field.
As he approached, terrible mutations occurred to Ludwig.
Dark, swelling "Black Spots" spread across Ludwig's body, and even the "Second Rotten Head" couldn't escape unscathed.
The Black Spots continuously collided and merged, as though any second now, Ludwig would become a dry corpse sculpture cast from Black Stone.
"A believer of the Dark God?"
The thought surfaced in everyone's mind.
Within Tang Qi's mind, however, a cluster of vague Information Fragments exploded.
"Extraordinary Creatures: Dark Priest, Legendary Transcendent, can harness the projection power of the Dark God..."
"At last, they couldn't hold back any longer."
This thought flickered in Tang Qi's heart, while a sympathetic gaze also fell upon the old man.
The Second Rotten Head reacted similarly.
At this moment, darkness enveloped everything, two Human Figures, one in front of the other.
Ludwig led the way, seemingly immersed in a focused State, completely ignoring all external disturbances, fiercely Climbing a mountain made from giant stones, even as his Life Flame could extinguish at any moment.
On his shoulder, the Second Rotten Head looked ahead at the darkness, cackling coldly.
That severely rotten head could even use a pair of cloudy eyes, to express a mix of pity and schadenfreude.
It opened its withered mouth, slurring towards what was ahead:
"The rats who like to hide in darkness have finally worked up the courage to come to the table, but have you hidden in the dark for so long that you've failed to see the situation clearly? Can a mere 'Dark Domain' snatch my and foolish Ludwig from these hyenas?"
The Dark Priest, in the guise of an old man, obviously would not change just because of the Second Rotten Head's mockery.
He had already passed by the other Legends, quickly closing in on Ludwig.
Dark claws emerged from beneath his robe, reaching for the corpse-like disciple of Sims. His palm seemed like the entrance to another world, one touch would be enough to suck Ludwig into another dimension, a Dark Dimension.
The Second Rotten Head just watched and sneered, with no desire to intervene.
The next second, something unexpected happened.
The darkness, met with a "Concentrated Fire" attack.
The legendary beings who had been entangling with each other, at this moment, displayed an astonishing level of tacit understanding. They simultaneously unleashed their power against the darkness.
Various unimaginable powers, along with divine auras, erupted under the "Pla Field."
To the group of spectators at the foot of the mountain, it appeared as thick "oil paints" that instantly tore through the curtain of darkness, easily ripping it into countless fragments. And in that moment, the old man's emaciated palm touched Ludwig's body.
Contrary to his expectations, the expected scene did not occur.
Ludwig merely shook, as if slapped by the old man.
But he was not sucked into the "Dark Dimension." Upon touching Ludwig's body, a pure force, similar yet essentially different from the Holy Light, surged forth, and the entrance in his palm was forcibly closed.
The old man's sinister face instantly froze.
Before his body was torn to shreds by the legendary beings of organizations like the Church, Rotten Head, Horror Devourer, he also saw a decayed skull inching closer, its yellow teeth clashing against each other with a piercing sound.
"Surprised? Unexpected?"
"Next time, think before you act. The foolish Ludwig, having been chosen by Martin Sims as his successor, how could he be easily schemed against? Even I can't kill him. In this era where all gods are asleep, old man Martin Sims is one of the pinnacle powers."
"Ah, I forgot, there's no next time for you."
The old man heard the last sentence, and immediately his body, like a "black tattered cloth," was hit by concentrated fire from dozens of powers at his same level. He couldn't even struggle, was torn into numerous pieces, and the power of darkness that burst forth did not stir much ripples, dissipating silently.
A Legendary Transcendent, had he just fallen like this?
The spectators were all stunned.
It was only at this moment that everyone seemed to react.
What they were watching was a Legendary Battlefield.
It meant that every casualty was a legend who myriad Transcendents in the Extraordinary World looked up to.
With the darkness unveiled, Ludwig continued to move forward.
From beginning to end, he never looked back.
He was like a true "Ascetic," devoutly climbing the Thorny Holy Mountain, not eating or drinking, only igniting his own Life Flame, resembling a mummy – not turning back, not lingering.
Even if by his ear, there was a rotten head constantly mocking him, belittling him, provoking him.
Because of the lesson from the "Dark Priest," no second "outstanding bird" appeared behind Ludwig among the legendary beings.
They started to trip each other up, entangling and fighting amongst themselves, but all remained vigilant. Anyone who tried to surge ahead, trying to snatch away Ludwig, would encounter the concentrated fire of other legends.
Thus, at this moment, a "Storm" brewed up behind Ludwig.
Within, were the figures of the legendary beings, the powers they released were like thick oil paints and twisted light, tightly following Ludwig, and constantly closing in.
No one could predict what would happen once all the legends caught up to Ludwig.
The spectators watched the scene intently.
Although most of them possessed some strength and could resist the "Pla Field," climbing at least halfway up the mountain without issue.
But with an understanding, no one acted, including Tang Qi.
Everyone knew one fact: to step into it meant to intervene in a Legendary Battlefield.
Tang Qi maintained his "Squirrel Body," holding a pipe in his mouth, shaking his small, plump legs, and quickly selected his target for observation.
Within that unbelievable "Storm," there were about a dozen battles.
Watching all at once was not realistic.
The first Tang Qi chose was Barton Bird, a Legendary Wizard among the three "Undying Pioneers."
His opponent was also a "gentleman," and an extremely handsome one at that.
He was dressed in a well-tailored tailcoat, holding a walking stick, wearing a tall black hat, each whisker meticulously trimmed with perfect curvature, and his lips seemed to eternally bear a smile, with a pair of light green, gem-like eyes.
The combat between the two was like a duel between gentlemen with great refinement and spectatorship.
They even greeted each other with a bow, then their auras, one black, one white, leaped and collided on the Black Stone, mutually influencing and polluting each other.
Groans and screams immediately came from beside Tang Qi.
Several Members from the Holy Eagle Nest Society made the same choice as Tang Qi, but their rash attempt to get a clear insight into the details of the combat of Legendary Transcendents brought about the risk of losing control and the pain of mental feedback to the body.
In other areas, there were also spectators howling.
"Watching the fight also isn't necessarily safe."
Tang Qi silently muttered this to himself when a burst of Information Fragments exploded in his mind, from that handsome middle-aged man.
"Extraordinary Creature: Immortal, Legendary Transcendent, who has imbibed the Eternal Youth Spring, because he possesses the power of being Undying, Immortal, and Undecaying... He comes from the Mysterious Organization 'Eternal Council.'"
