Except for two warriors on duty at the lookout post in the fortress, Fatty was surrounded by the remaining six warriors and a medical soldier on this high ground.
On the virtual screen, two warriors were sitting breathlessly beside Fatty's stretcher, their heads close together, shielding the wind with their hands as they lit cigarettes. The sergeant was pointing at Fatty while speaking to another warrior, who kept nodding at Fatty. Meanwhile, the medical soldier had already prepared the medical kit and was signaling two other soldiers to help carry Fatty in.
Nia could barely stand watching any longer. She stood up, her whole body ablaze with anxiety. If she could, she would have pulled Fatty out of the virtual screen! Things seemed to have reached a dead end; she couldn't imagine how Fatty would manage to bluff his way through.
Nia paced around the Command Room, glancing at Bonnie, who remained calm and composed. She stomped her foot and turned her head back to the screen. All her thoughts were focused on that man. Despite her fear, she couldn't keep her eyes off that nerve-wracking figure for long.
Just as Nia looked at the screen, a burst of exclamation erupted from the entire cockpit of the Command Mecha.
On the virtual screen, Fatty, who had been lying silently on the stretcher, suddenly leaped up! Contrary to Nia's imagination, Fatty never intended to bluff his way through from the start! Sometimes, solving complex problems requires nothing but simple violence!
The two soldiers who were about to support Fatty were seized by Fatty's large hands at their necks. With two crisp snaps, their heads drooped limply, and their bodies fell straight down. As they collapsed, the medical soldier, who was preparing surgery tools, had his throat pierced by the surgical knife he had just taken from the medical kit!
The sergeant and the warrior talking to him realized what was happening first. They simultaneously reached for their guns, but their movements seemed ten times slower in front of Fatty. As two phantoms flashed by, surgical knives were plunged into both their throats!
The medical soldier's kit had become an accomplice in solving Fatty's problem! The moment the medical soldier opened the kit, the outcome was sealed. The sergeant and the warrior beside him made gurgling sounds from their throats, fell to their knees, and collapsed to the ground. Their eyes bulged like dead fish. To their dying breaths, they could not understand how Fatty's movements could be so fast and accurate with his knives!
The two soldiers who had just lit their cigarettes raised their heads with still confused faces. A huge shadow filled their entire vision. With no time to react, the first soldier took a direct punch to the face from Fatty. The terrifying impact snapped the soldier's head backward, and his entire face, along with the cigarette in his mouth, was smashed into the back of his skull like a deflated balloon.
The soldier fell silently to the ground. His mouth and nose had caved in, his whole face looking as if it had been hit by a train, utterly gruesome!
The other soldier was somewhat luckier, receiving a kick to his stomach that sent him flying over ten meters. By the time he hit the ground, he was motionless, with blood frothing from his mouth and staining the dirt black and red.
Everything happened in the blink of an eye. The exclamations in front of the SkyNet screen hadn't fully died down before Fatty's slaughter ended! In front of the SkyNet screen, the sound of gasping filled the air.
The last two soldiers, completely unaware of what had happened outside, were easily dealt with by Fatty. His footsteps were as light and silent as a feline. One soldier had his neck twisted from behind, while the other tried to resist but was knocked out and had a broken branch shoved through his lung.
Afterward, Fatty carried the last soldier down the slope on the north side of the high ground. Though no one understood what he intended to do, everyone watching this scene on SkyNet looked a bit numb. Fatty's shocks were countless; now, whatever he did and however he did it, he must have his reasons, rendering any surprise unnecessary.
On the No.6 Resource Highway, the heavy transport vehicles continued in an endless stream. Every few hundred meters, there was an armored personnel carrier or Mecha patrolling. As a Mecha approached, Fatty dashed out, screaming his lungs out.
The Mecha halted in front of Fatty, and a Captain jumped out, frowning, "What's the matter?"
On the SkyNet's close-up, Fatty, trembling all over, clung tightly to the soldier he had just harmed. Looking up, his face already tear-streaked: "Sir, please save Jack..." He wiped his tears with the back of his hand, but more tears fell: "Damn... he just twisted his ankle and accidentally fell down the slope. If we don't get to a field hospital, he'll die!"
The Captain glanced at the broken branch behind "Jack" and immediately said, "Get him on board, I'll take you there!"
Fatty lifted "Jack" and jogged behind the Captain. He pressed his face against "Jack's," sobbing, "Brother, you have to hold on; your fiancée is still waiting at home! You promised me we'd go back alive together; I won't let you die!"
Fatty was deeply engrossed in his act but suddenly, "Jack" opened his eyes. Startled, Fatty glanced at the Captain walking ahead while clumsily trying to cover the soldier's eyes.
The Captain turned to help, but "Jack" could only let out a few strangled sounds, blood spurting from his mouth, and the pain in his lungs preventing him from speaking. After a few incomprehensible syllables, the wretched soldier passed out again.
"I don't know if we'll make it," the Captain said worriedly.
The Mecha started, crossing the No.6 Resource Highway and heading toward the 311th Division Second Group Base in the northeast. However, only a few minutes later, the Mecha suddenly stopped.
Everyone in front of SkyNet fell silent, waiting. The Mecha had already moved out of the roadside defensive lines at this point. If Fatty seized the Mecha and headed north, no one would be surprised.
The Mecha's door opened. Fatty stepped out, carrying "Jack," his eyes dull, tears falling in big drops onto "Jack's" body. "Jack's" hand had dropped, and his pale, lifeless face still held a trace of unwillingness.
Fatty walked slowly. Behind him, the Captain watched Fatty's resolute and desolate figure. After a long moment, he pounded the Mecha with a heavy punch, his expression dejected and sorrowful.
"Liar!" everyone in front of SkyNet shouted in unison.
Despite the madness and the frenzy, when the Mecha rejoined the convoy on the No.6 Resource Highway, it was clear to all. Fatty, in an almost impossible situation, had not wasted a second and crossed the extremely tight defensive lines in a nearly insane manner!
This infiltration was evident to everyone watching, and it had brought a shock that surpassed all imagination.
No one had ever believed that a single person could run, deceive, infiltrate, and kill so effectively behind enemy lines! Fatty moved unhindered, tricking and ambushing, toying with squad after squad of superior enemies, bypassing one stringent defensive line after another as if they were unguarded! Each of his details in stealth, sniping, planning, marching, and combat was enough to write a training manual for Special Soldiers!
Could Fatty really complete the seemingly impossible mission of assassinating Stephen? Some Combat Staff started to believe in it.
