Mage Manual

Chapter 755: Sword Maiden's Game (Part 3)

"I've never competed with another woman for a man."

Sonia's hand holding the bottle paused slightly, and she drank a quarter of it expressionlessly.

But the next second, everyone, including her, turned to look at Adelle, who was also drinking.

"Adelle, don't you have a childhood fiancé?" Ingrid asked.

"Yeah, that's right." Adelle spread her hands, "But that was when we were kids—I moved once in elementary school, so we didn't see each other for several years until we met again in middle school."

"And then what happened next... was pretty much like the plot of 'True Love.'"

Sonia immediately said, "The one where the male lead and the heroine played by Dedarose secretly like each other but have to pretend to be a couple with the second female lead?"

Adelle licked the mouth of the bottle and nodded, "That's right."

"So are you the first female lead?" Lois curiously asked, "Secretly in love and then mutually longing for each other?"

"No, I'm the third female lead—the one who transferred schools and kept on making advances." Adelle shrugged, "The only difference is, in the show, the third female lead lost, but I won."

Ingrid: "So how did you deal with the first and second female leads?"

"All I'll say is, a teenage boy, aside from doing homework, is basically a beast following his instincts." Adelle shook her finger, "There's no way he could stick to feelings over etiquette like in the show, so... the pure first female lead and tsundere second female lead could never defeat someone like me who's watched countless dramas and is a cute and proactive romantic faction legendary third female lead!"

"Compared to you, my holding the position of student council president in middle school seems like an insignificant ordinary daily life." Lois said.

"That's great." Sonia swayed the bottle gently and said softly, "My impression of school is only from dramas."

Unlike university, all middle and elementary schools in Dazzling Star are private institutions. The length of elementary and middle school differs by region, and you could even say they're just daycare + social venues. Sonia naturally didn't have schools in her hometown; she completed all her courses by watching online videos. Education in Dazzling Star is 'voluntary,' after all, the resources are there if you want to learn.

"I don't know if this will make you feel better, but I only went to middle school for thirteen days." Ingrid said, "In those thirteen days, there were several mass fights, the most severe one even shattered the principal's office window."

Adelle clicked her tongue, "Is the folkway in your hometown so unpretentious? Then what happened, did the school suspend classes?"

"Yes, classes were suspended." Ingrid shrugged, "But only for me, and all thirteen surrounding middle schools rejected my application."

So you're the ringleader behind the mass fights!

"You guys don't need to worry about me," Sonia showed a subtle smile, "If it were the past, hearing you talk about your school life, I'd definitely be jealous enough to curse you, but it's different now."

"Have you come to terms with it now?" Lois asked.

"How could that be, I'd still be jealous enough to curse you." Sonia swayed the bottle, "But the jealousy ends in a few seconds, and the curse stays in my head, never turning into action."

"Wait," Adelle keenly spotted something odd, "Sonia, did you ever put it into action before?"

The Village Girl blinked and naturally changed the subject, "So, who's next—"

"But Sonia, you just drank too." Ingrid asked, "Who did you compete with for a man?"

"Ah, I forgot, I should drink too." Lois tilted her head back for a sip and said, "Ingrid, have you forgotten? Sonia and I had a period of rivalry over someone called, called... what was his name again?"

Sonia also vaguely remembered that about half a year ago, she seemed to deliberately seduce Lois's admirer to annoy her and test her own charm, making Lois rage. It's only been half a year, but she can't recall the details anymore, like a child forgetting their childish past.

It's not just Sonia; everyone else also had a sense of déjà vu. Half a year ago, who would've thought Sonia would advance to the Holy Domain, Ingrid and Lois would become mages in their second year, and Adelle would really break the record for most course failures in the history of Sword Flower University?

Who would've thought that this dorm room, where no one spoke much during the entire first year, would have moments where everyone gathers to drink and chat?

Adelle couldn't help but giggle, "To get your attention is probably the greatest achievement of that guy whose name you can't even remember in his life."

"There were plenty who got our attention back in freshman year." Lois rolled her eyes, "Anyway, whatever I did, Sonia, you would definitely follow suit, like a little tail."

"After all, I was still learning how to be a qualified pretty girl at that time." Sonia said frankly, "I wasn't yet familiar with other classmates, so the only role models I had were you, Adelle, Ingrid, so..."

Adelle: "Then you could've learned from me!"

Lois thought about it and also nodded, "Indeed, you could only refer to me."

Adelle: "Hey, why are you ignoring me!"

Ingrid patted Adelle, comforting her: "They don't mean any harm. To put it in novel terms, although you and Lois are both beauties, Lois is like a high-purity original work, while you are like a whimsical and humorous fanfic by a fan author, not exactly the best reference for studies."

"I don't know if they mean any harm, but I feel like you're being quite malicious." Adelle said with a face full of black lines, "Ingrid, this comparison of yours is great; don't do it next time."

Sonia secretly sighed in relief, luckily there were past incidents to cover it up, otherwise, she wouldn't know how to explain stealing men from others.

However, the Village Girl didn't notice, Lois, Adelle, and Ingrid exchanged subtle glances, trying their best to suppress their inner shock.

"It's my turn!" Adelle raised a bottle of wine, cleared her throat, and said: "I've never had a kiss that tasted like love!"

"You have to drink for saying something so obvious!" Lois immediately said.

"I'm not lying!" Adelle shouted loudly: "Do I look like someone who's loose, not at all reserved, and would easily give away her first kiss!?"

Sonia and Ingrid, who were drinking, both stared at Adelle with eyes full of killing intent.

"But didn't you say you took the initiative in middle school to win over your fiancé?" Lois asked: "How could it be that you've never kissed?"

"We only held hands, what are you thinking!" Adelle had a face of 'how can you be so dirty,'" Or... Okay, I've kissed, but I only kissed his face, that doesn't count as a kiss!"

"And with just that your fiancé was taken? Too simple!"

"Even if you're Lois, I'd get mad if you keep underestimating me." Adelle grinned: "It's not him being simple, it's that I'm too charming. I just need to touch his hair, and he can't stand up straight in front of me."

"I'll assume what you're saying is true." Lois turned her head to the other two, "I didn't expect both of you to... Huh? Ingrid, you?"

"Ingrid, you quietly have a boyfriend now!? And you've progressed so fast!" Adelle was also shocked: "You have the right to remain silent now, but if you don't say his name, you'll be tickled as punishment later!"

"There's nothing." Ingrid said calmly: "That kiss happened before university."

"Wow, was it a young boy-girl's first kiss?" Adelle got even more excited: "Is it childhood sweethearts? I knew it, ultimately, it's the world of childhood sweethearts, and everyone else is heresy!"

"You could say it's childhood sweethearts."

"What's your relationship like now? Planning to get married in the future? You didn't find a boyfriend at university, is it because of him?"

"I forgot to ask just now." Ingrid suddenly said: "This love-tasting kiss doesn't have to be limited by gender, right?"

Lois and Adelle were dumbfounded for several seconds, then they silently turned to Sonia, gesturing with a microphone: "Now let's have Professor Sevi share his advanced dating experiences."

"Even though you say that, I haven't kissed many people either." Sonia was a bit shy but her voice softened unconsciously, "I've only kissed twice."

"The first time was a first kiss, right!" Adelle gripped her wine bottle: "Was the scene romantic; did it taste sweet?"

Sonia smiled and shook her head, "No, it was not romantic at all, and there was no taste. It was in complete darkness when I wanted to secretly kiss him, but accidentally touched his lips, that was my first kiss."

"Aw~~~"

"But after the second kiss, he told me that he actually wanted to steal a kiss from me at that time too." Sonia's face revealed a blush, her eyes filled with charm, "Though it wasn't romantic and I couldn't see anything or taste anything, I still love my first kiss the most."

"Ah!!!" Adelle listened while biting her finger, "I feel like I'm a dog that suddenly got kicked - I'm so jealous!"

"You have a fiancé, isn't it easy for you to create a more romantic scene?"

"No way! Intentional romance can never compare to a moment of genuine heart-driven excitement!"

"Alright, alright... Now it's Ingrid's turn."

"I've never..." Ingrid paused for a long time, not very good at thinking along these lines, "...bathed with a roommate."

She blurted this out and was already prepared to drink. However, as soon as she said this, Lois and Adelle's expressions changed immediately, hastily explaining: "That night the water was going to be cut off, we had no choice!"

Sonia and Ingrid both looked at them in shock, while Lois and Adelle gulped down the remaining wine, signaling them not to ask any more questions.
