Jimmy: "Early this morning, someone broke into my apartment."
Charon frowned, the wrinkles on his forehead scrunched up, "And then?"
Jimmy: "He opened the door to my apartment and entered the living room. On his way to the bedroom, I discovered him, but we didn't meet; he turned around and fled immediately."
Charon: "So do you know who it was?"
Jimmy: "There's only one suspect for now, Ms. Perkins."
Charon: "Are you certain?"
Jimmy: "No clues were left behind, but recently, the only person capable of doing such a thing would be her."
Charon thought for a moment, then slightly bowed: "Sorry, Mr. Yang, I need to step out for a moment."
Jimmy waved him off, and Charon stood up, buttoned his suit, and left the meeting room.
Jimmy sat there idly, drinking whiskey while waiting. After a while, Charon returned to the meeting room, "Sorry to keep you waiting, Mr. Yang."
Jimmy: "Do you have any news?"
Charon: "Mr. Yang, there's currently no confirmed information. Moreover, our hotel is a neutral place; no one can act here. So if you feel it's necessary, I can arrange a room for you."
Jimmy took a deep breath, raised his glass to Charon, and then downed the drink: "Thank you, if I need it. I have to get back to work now, goodbye, Charon."
Charon: "Goodbye, Mr. Yang."
Charon escorted Jimmy out of the hotel. As they reached the entrance, Charon stopped Jimmy, shook his hand to say goodbye, and whispered: "Goodbye, Mr. Yang, stay safe. (And) watch out for the rose."
Jimmy smiled and nodded, leaving the hotel and heading toward the FBI office.
Charon didn't say much, but he said everything. The person who entered Jimmy's house in the morning was almost certainly Perkins.
Charon had even hinted at Perkins' abilities. His suggestion for Jimmy to stay at the hotel indicated that Perkins was indeed a formidable opponent, and Charon worried Jimmy might fall into a trap.
As for the warning to be careful of the rose, that was more cryptic.
Jimmy pondered as he walked, which organization used the rose as a symbol?
At least among the cases he had handled and the forces he had encountered, none seemed to use such an emblem. Bars, clubs, and restaurants with "rose" in their names didn't count, as the name itself was quite commonly used.
If Charon mentioned the rose, that organization must be a powerful one. Perhaps not a large gang, but at least a team with multiple thugs or assassins.
Of course, there's also the possibility that Perkins' organization's emblem or personal nickname is the rose?
Obviously, based on the hotel's neutrality, Charon couldn't provide Jimmy with any information. However, based on personal relations or Winston's connections, Charon was willing to remind Jimmy to a certain extent, which was quite commendable.
Jimmy walked two or three blocks and suddenly noticed a familiar car approaching. Though he had been deep in thought, thanks to his formidable spiritual powers, he hadn't completely ignored his surroundings. This car had appeared in his line of sight several times already, at least three times by now.
The driver was a young woman, and as she passed Jimmy, he suddenly recalled who she was.
Jimmy immediately turned to look at the car, as it turned left at the intersection ahead and drove away. This was the waitress Liliana had placed in the under-construction building of the Poison Snake Gang; Jimmy had identified her from a photo that day. He had followed Liliana to find her hideout building, and during their conversation, Liliana confirmed the woman had ties to Perkins.
Why had this woman appeared in his sight multiple times? What was her purpose? Could she be linked to Perkins? Was she tailing him?
Jimmy thought about the road layout around him, continuing forward while watching the intersection ahead, occasionally glancing back. A few minutes later, that car once again appeared at the intersection behind him, slowly driving past Jimmy.
Due to the busy traffic in Lower District Manhattan, the car couldn't go faster, moving only at about 20-30 speed; even if it wanted to go faster, it could not.
Jimmy noticed the car the moment it appeared at the intersection, silently calculating its position in his mind. He would occasionally turn his head for a glance. As the woman passed by his position, Jimmy suddenly crouched down, hiding by a parked car on the roadside. Immediately following, he heard a "pop pop pop" sound; several gunshots rang out, hitting the car Jimmy had taken cover behind multiple times.
Jimmy's Sixth Sense was still strong, especially since he had been wary of that woman, dodging the initial rounds and promptly drawing his revolver to fire twice through the car window at the woman who was shooting at him.
Jimmy didn't want to kill her directly but aimed to wound her and capture her to see if he could lure Perkins out, thus aiming at her body through the driver's side door.
However, possibly blocked by the glass and door, Jimmy's shots seemed to miss. The woman immediately accelerated, sped down the middle of the road, and fled.
Jimmy didn't wait, instead emptying the remaining four bullets in his gun. He could confirm that he had hit, but another confirmed fact was that he hadn't managed to kill the gunman.
The car in front, after scraping several other cars, escaped. Amidst the chaos caused by the gunshots, Jimmy's path to chase was blocked, forcing him to stop grudgingly and return to the scene of the shooting.
