North America Gunman Detective

Chapter 537: Resolution

Harlington already knew Jimmy's identity. An FBI senior agent is quite different compared to the private detective he had previously hired, and Jimmy is also Kevin's son-in-law, a member of his own family's younger generation.

Since Jimmy said to wait in the bedroom, then just wait. He's one of us, no need to worry about what he might do.

Jimmy walked around the room once, then opened the door and went outside. The light at the door didn't matter to Jimmy; he had already determined the general location, and now he needed to figure out what was specifically causing it.

The sound in Jimmy's ear wasn't loud; for him, it was essentially like a little more static when watching TV. Although it affected his hearing, it didn't have much impact on his mind.

The key was that Jimmy found that the more he concentrated, the lower the volume of the sound in his ear, almost to the point of being inaudible. This phenomenon seemed related to a person's mental will. Among Harlington's family, his son was the most affected, while the servants, bodyguards, and even himself as a lawyer and businessman were not as impacted.

Jimmy went outside, using Heart Eye Observation on the walls. He finally found the thickest mist on the villa's outer wall, though still faint, just a bit thicker in comparison.

The distance was a bit high, estimated at around 3-4 meters. Because he was using Heart Eye, he couldn't see clearly, only seeing a small recessed hole in the wall.

Jimmy looked up again at the sky and the surrounding open space, his mind highly focused, not finding any other issues. Therefore, the culprit should be this small hole in the wall.

Jimmy returned to the room and found Harlington: "Uncle Harlington, do you have a ladder at home?"

Harlington: "You need to ask Selena about that."

Jimmy nodded and went back to the third-floor servant's room, knocking on the door. Selena, already dressed, was waiting in the room and came over to open the door upon hearing the knock.

Jimmy: "Selena, do you have a ladder here? I need one that's over 3 meters."

Selena thought for a moment, shook her head: "Sorry, there's only one ladder in the house, but it's about 1.5 meters high, which I usually use for cleaning the room."

This is troublesome. With a 1.5-meter ladder, the position Jimmy was looking at was likely 3-4 meters high, and he still couldn't see it.

Jimmy: "I need a long ladder. Where can I get one?"

Selena: "I can bring one back, but it will have to be during the day, not now."

Jimmy nodded, "Then please do it as soon as possible."

Selena: "Okay."

Jimmy returned to Harlington's bedroom, "Uncle Harlington, you should rest first."

Harlington: "Did you find it?"

Jimmy: "No, I just want to experience it and see when the sound disappears. You shouldn't keep staying up for this."

Harlington: "Okay, you should rest early too."

Jimmy returned to the living room, sitting on the sofa until the sound disappeared after nearly an hour. This sound was very strange; it didn't harm people, only seriously affecting children. It seemed somewhat too weak.

During the day, Selena drove away directly, returning after a while, and took down the ladder that was tied to the pickup.

Jimmy took the ladder to the wall, extended it to its limit, and then climbed up to observe. There was indeed a small hole in the wall, very narrow, only about one centimeter in diameter, with a white object stuck inside, about five centimeters from the wall surface, not very deep.

Jimmy got down from the ladder and asked Selena to find a pair of tweezers and a small knife, then climbed up again, inserting the flat tweezers to gently pry. When that didn't work, he scraped the brick with the knife.

The wall of this villa was made of red brick, not as hard as stone. Using the knife, he slowly expanded the perimeter of the small hole, finally using the tweezers to extract the white object inside.

He wrapped it in disposable gloves and got down from the ladder.

Very strange, it seemed like this white object was some kind of bone, but very small. He compared it to his own finger, and it was about the size of a single knuckle.

Not being someone from the Church who likes collecting all sorts of supernatural items, Jimmy simply thought for a moment about the bone and decided to destroy it.

After telling Harlington, Jimmy went to the villa's tool shed to find some steel plates, took the white bone fragment to the woods nearby, found a clean spot on the ground, clamped the steel plates to the ground, placed the bone in the space enclosed by the steel plates, and directly used the 1875 revolver from a distance to shoot the bone.

Jimmy originally thought one shot would be enough. However, after hitting it, he suddenly found that the bone wasn't shattered by the bullet, not even broken; it just bounced between the steel plates a few times before stopping on the ground.

Jimmy picked it up and gave it a look. The spot where the bone was hit had a shallow indentation, with some small cracks around it, but not deep. After searching on the steel plates and the ground, he found the bullet fragments he fired.

Whoa, this thing is that hard? At this point, he was completely certain that its hardness was unusual. In the supernatural incidents he had encountered before, nothing had ever been as hard as this.

If the owner of this bone appeared in front of him now, he might not even be able to deal with them, getting taken down instead. With such tough bones, how strong must its physical body be?

Are there really such monsters? Why haven't I heard any news about them?

Jimmy placed the bone on the ground, stepped back, and fired, one shot after another. After using up the 6-round cylinder, he loaded the 6 spare rounds from his holster and shot again. It took 8 shots to break the bone and 12 shots to shatter it into small fragments.
