Recap: In "Red Flames Battlefield", during the shootout in the hotel's basement kitchen where the Vice President was being kidnapped, because Victoria was shot, Jimmy worried about her being captured, compromising his own safety, and killed Victoria amidst the chaos.

While Jimmy was waiting in the hotel for the Special Service Bureau to pursue, he heard a phone call from CIA Agent William Cooper and followed him to an abandoned power plant. Arriving from behind the factory, Jimmy approached Frank and his group, and due to the lack of Victoria, there was a delay when they killed the men Alexander brought, causing the machine gunner in the vehicle to shoot and kill Sara.

While they were gathered around Sara, Jimmy ambushed and killed three old men from the shadows, while William Cooper managed to avoid being hit, he killed the Vice President, and then Jimmy killed William Cooper.

-----------------

Everything went as Jimmy had anticipated, the scene was too chaotic, and after an initial cleanup, Jimmy, as the only living person at the scene, was taken directly back to the Chicago office by the Special Service Bureau, where his weapons were confiscated and he was temporarily detained, pending further review.

Meanwhile, the Special Service Bureau also notified the FBI headquarters and the Manhattan office, and Hughes arrived directly at the Chicago office that afternoon.

This incident was of huge magnitude, the news had been temporarily blocked, and although Jimmy had given a statement, he still could not leave. After Hughes's arrival, accompanied by a Special Service Bureau agent, he had a discussion with Jimmy, who repeated the statement he had made, after which Hughes left the detention room.

Jimmy wasn't too worried, as he had gone through the entire scenario many times in his head. His biggest problems were two things, one being that he had not notified the Special Service Bureau in time, and the second was the killing of the last three people, resulting in no witnesses to link all the groups involved at the scene.

Frank and Marvin, former CIA agents, Ivan, a former KGB, now an officer at the Russian Embassy, Cynthia and William Cooper, current CIA Director and senior agent, Alexander Dunning, an arms dealer and war broker, and a woman Sara, a retired administrative bureau operator.

The Special Service Bureau was probably cursing by now, wondering how they were linked to the Vice President. Moreover, with such tangled identities, it was a problem to connect them all together. The biggest trouble actually lay with Ivan, as an embassy officer and diplomat involved in the kidnapping and assassination of the Vice President, handling him was never going to be perfectly resolved, and it didn't exclude the possibility that the embassy might think they were intentionally framing and trapping him, leading to diplomatic disputes.

The matters were not over yet, soon Jimmy was arranged to be taken by car to the airport, via a charter to DC, and got confined in a safe house by the Special Service Bureau with no means to communicate outside, not even thinking about telephones; Jimmy could only watch TV or pass the time on the gym equipment at the safe house. Hughes knew about Jimmy's impending soft detention but could say nothing except to caution Jimmy to stay safe before he returned to New York.

The President authorized the establishment of a special investigative committee to probe the assassination of the Vice President. The committee was chaired by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, the main members being representatives of both parties from the Senate, the House of Representatives, the FBI Director, the National Security Bureau Director, and the Special Service Bureau Director. The investigation targeted Jimmy and all individuals present at the scene.

The inquiries for Jimmy were basically conducted every few days; each time, he was escorted by the Special Service Bureau to different locations, and the places where he was kept were kept confidential to prevent other issues.

The investigations were not only targeted at Jimmy; others present at the scene were also under scrutiny. Through investigating the backgrounds of several individuals and the recent fire incident at the Langley headquarters, the FBI and their conflict around Dunning's villa, they reorganized the complete process, and the clues ultimately led back to Dunning and Vice President Stanton.

Three weeks later, the FBI finally completed the preliminary investigation and review of the case, and submitted it to the presidential committee. After receiving the investigation report, the committee held four rounds of closed hearings, with various departments providing material testimonies, combing through the starting and ending processes of the case. Two months after the incident occurred, the presidential committee submitted the investigation report concerning the kidnapping and assassination of Vice President Stanton to the President.

The main storyline of the case had been investigated very clearly, based on information provided by Jimmy, Cooper's last phone call notifying Cynthia of the location and bringing the girl, they investigated Cooper and Cynthia's phone records, which connected them to Alexander Dunning.

Through the investigation of the current CIA Director Cynthia and senior agent William Cooper, they found files on Guatemala in their office, as well as records of Sara being interrogated by the CIA previously. They also re-verified the identity of Joe Matthewson, who died at the Dunning villa, and based on the findings at the scene including Frank and Marvin's deaths, they ascertained the initial cause, course, and final outcome of the incident.

Alexander Dunning and Vice President Stanton, during the preparation for the election, contacted one another to clear their dark history due to an investigation by a New York Times journalist, to avoid being exposed. Therefore, they contacted CIA Director Cynthia, who arranged a CIA independent assassination squad to execute those involved in the Guatemala case within the United States, ultimately leading Frank and his team to trace it back to Dunning and Stanton.
