North America Gunman Detective

Chapter 398: 323 Voodoo_2

Jimmy also specifically requested the range to prepare some .44 revolvers so that he could test several of them and see if he could decide on a new gun.

The next day, Jimmy got the test report from the detection center. The grass doll was newly made, as was the wooden box. Moreover, it had been buried underground for no more than 15 days. An X-ray examination revealed that there was a cross-shaped frame serving as the core skeleton of the grass doll since they couldn't take it apart. Therefore, they hadn't determined the material of the core frame.

Carrying the test report and the wooden box of the grass doll, Jimmy went to the NYPD and found Chris's contact, Detective Chuck. Well, judging by the looks of Chris, one could guess his contact was probably an old man too. Chuck was a bald male with a hint of a mustache above his mouth, which, of course, could be due to forgetting to shave when leaving home, greyish-white, looking quite old in age, but the bald head made him look younger.

Jimmy stepped forward and reached out to shake hands with Chuck, "Detective Chuck, good morning. I'm FBI Agent Jimmy Yang."

Chuck shook Jimmy's hand vigorously, boy, that was a strong grip. "Welcome to the NYPD, kid. Chris said you found the clue?" Chuck's voice didn't quite resemble an old New Yorker. Instead, it carried a redneck twang, which Jimmy was very familiar with.

Jimmy responded with a smile, "It was just luck, luck. This is the box we dug out from the ground, here are the test report and the photographs of the excavation site, please check them."

Chuck took the report and the bag and turned to call out, "Nia, come over here."

"Wow, are all NYPD detectives this high-caliber?!" Jimmy exclaimed, jokingly before the beauty arrived, and Chuck turned his head and winked at Jimmy. He casually passed the bag and the file to the white female police officer who had approached. Yes, not a detective, since she was in uniform, but she already had two bars, likely preparing to take the detective exam.

A pretty uniformed girl, with delicate features, big eyes, and around 170 cm tall, not short at all, with a nice figure that showed she worked out regularly. Short blond hair suggested she was growing it out from a previous short haircut, just missing the shoulders, currently tied into a loose ponytail, which meant she probably didn't need to patrol outside, otherwise such a hairstyle would definitely cause problems, especially during weighted running on the streets of New York.

Once the girl had taken the materials, Jimmy asked Chuck, "Chuck, any leads on this case?"

Chuck shook his head and then walked to his own desk; yes, detectives worked in a large office, similar to a typical office space, with individual desks for each person, just with wider aisles in between.

Chuck, "I was actually planning to put this case on hold. We have investigated most of the missing person cases reported in the last two weeks, none matched, and dental records matching also failed. It seems she rarely visited the dentist."

Jimmy, "No clues matching at all?"

Chuck, "Right, there's no surveillance in that park, and it gets a lot of foot traffic, nobody can remember what happened a week ago, too many people. We'll follow up on this box and grass doll. If there's still no lead, we'll have to pause it for a while, there are many other cases."

Jimmy, "OK, I got it, then I'll head back now. Goodbye." Jimmy reached out to shake hands, preparing to say farewell, "By the way, what's her name?"

Chuck chuckled, "Nia Miller. I think that should be enough for your investigation. Go ahead."

Jimmy smiled back at Chuck and turned to leave the precinct.

Jimmy went straight back to the Federal Square office, but this time not to slack at his own desk but to visit Peter's office.

He was certain the grass doll was a very important clue; others might see it as just an ordinary piece of evidence, but Jimmy knew that the color difference on the side was caused by this thing.

Theoretically, it was definitely some kind of prop for special use, not ruling out the possibility of a religious artifact, one that could cause a change in the Heart Eye Observation environment. At least, it was definitely not a fake. However, it looked too new, probably just made, which meant that near Brooklyn there was someone capable of crafting special props. Judging by the nearby body, this person was definitely not of good nature.

He had come to Peter, mainly because Peter and his team were more familiar with art-related stuff. Given that art is closely related to religion, even if it had to do with a cult, Peter's knowledge in various art categories could still offer some advice.

Jimmy made his way to Peter's office, greeting Jones and his team on the way, although it seemed like their group had some new faces.

After knocking on the door, Jimmy shouted exaggeratedly, "Peter! I need help! I've come to you for assistance."

Peter looked up at Jimmy and said, "Who did you pick up these bad habits from? That voice makes me think something bad is going to happen."

Jimmy, with a mischievous grin, came to the opposite side of Peter's desk and pulled out a few photos from his pocket. He had kept a copy after developing them and placed them on Peter's desk. "Haven't gone bad, just been watching too much TV, learned to be a bit over-the-top from the people in there. You know, not too many good people in TV dramas nowadays. Oh, right, I did come for help, take a look at these photos, can you recognize this grass doll?"

Peter picked up the photos and said as he looked at them, "If you really want to learn, you could go to Broadway, they have more actors there."
