North America Gunman Detective

Chapter 381: 315 I Want to Kidnap the Vice President_2

Jimmy drove all the way back to Washington, D.C., returned the car, withdrew some cash from the bank, changed into a new set of clothes in a secluded area, and then confidently emerged onto the streets. He strolled around, bought two burner phones, and rented another car from a different dealership, preparing to head to Annapolis to meet up with Frank and the others.

At that moment, Jimmy's phone rang, and he realized it was Tom on the other end. He told Tom to hold on for a moment and called him back on one of the burner phones.

Jimmy: "What do you want?"

Tom: "Why were you near Langley?"

Jimmy frowned, "How did you know I was here?"

Tom: "I tracked your Little Rock cell phone number. It wasn't exactly at Langley, but only about ten kilometers away. Why did you go there?"

Jimmy pursed his lips; Tom really was suspicious. It seemed he had tracked his cellphone when he was at the villa, and later, when he went to Langley, he hadn't taken that phone. "I've been resting recently and got in touch with Frank to hang out together."

Tom raised his voice slightly, "Fool, if he wants to look for trouble, that's his business. What does it have to do with you? He's already retired. Even if he dies there, it doesn't matter. Do you really want to die with him?"

Tom took a deep breath, and a muffled breathing sound could be heard from the receiver, "I know you think you're good at protecting yourself, but the security force at CIA headquarters is very strong. Don't underestimate the CIA. Leave Frank immediately, go anywhere, just don't get involved in his business."

Jimmy was silent for a while, "I want to understand more. I don't want to be left in the dark, not knowing anything when someone's sent to clean up after me. I need to understand how the CIA operates. I can't intervene in your thing, but Frank's place is the only way I can get close to the CIA. I know you're worried about me, but I don't want to be clueless about future threats."

Tom fell silent, and so did Jimmy. After a while, Tom spoke, "I understand, I won't stop you, but I hope you realize how dangerous your actions are. Take care of yourself, and be ready to abandon everything and leave at a moment's notice. We'll talk more when you get back."

After Tom finished, he hung up the phone. Jimmy could tell by his voice that Tom had been in a bad mood lately, sounding much lower than usual.

Jimmy was not unaware of the dangers of his actions, but as he had mentioned earlier, the threat to future safety was too significant. He had to learn about the CIA in advance. He couldn't afford to face an assassination blindly when the cleanup process started. Even if he was to be eliminated, he needed to have means to resist, and to know who his adversaries were.

It was simply because he had no other contacts who could introduce him to CIA matters, and since their days in the county police, Tom had always kept him away from danger and was even less likely to involve him directly with CIA affairs.

Jimmy knew Tom had his reasons, but he was not Tom's puppet. He had his own life hacks, a different life, a new life to live. What's important was, he had his own will. Although his days were mundane, he was free. He joined the FBI on his own will, working hard on cases. He didn't want to be a mere puppet.

Jimmy put away his phone and continued driving to Chesapeake.

The journey was not easy, as to avoid surveillance, Marvin had to stay clear of traffic cameras, consuming more time. Fortunately, once they reached the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, they were safe.

Being able to avoid surveillance in Washington, D.C. meant they could maintain safety for a long time because the transport network there was highly efficient and nobody knew where they would go next. By the time their trails were discovered, it could be several days later.

Jimmy used one of the burner phones to call Frank and confirm their location, then headed there. They arrived at a white two-story villa where Jimmy and Frank disembarked. Frank entered the villa alone while Joe and Sara followed but stayed outside. Marvin caught Jimmy's interest; he disguised himself, holding a gun, and hid by a window, watching Frank and an elderly woman inside the room through the glass.

Jimmy had already scoped the place with "Heart Eye"; the villa housed only one person, but it wasn't simple—so many hidden compartments. Good Lord, if all the weapons stashed inside were taken out, it could equip an entire assault squad.

Jimmy stayed to one side, keeping his eyes on the two inside; the tall one was Frank, and the short one, the elderly woman, who constantly had one hand on the table as if something was placed on it, but Jimmy couldn't tell what it was.

Soon, the front door opened and Joe and Sara entered the villa, and Jimmy and Marvin too left the window and walked in.

The elderly woman with white hair was leading Frank upstairs when they turned to see the newcomers at the doorway. "Who are they?"

Frank: "They're with me, Sara, Jimmy."

Joe walked over and planted a kiss on the woman, "Wei, as sexy as ever."

The woman playfully slapped Joe: "You charming old smooth-talker."

Well, although Jimmy had been in the United States for three years, he still couldn't get used to their greeting rituals. A hug was the farthest he could go; normally, he would just shake hands when greeting someone.
